About us

UMAMI RAMEN & IZAKAYA is the very first fully vegan ramen restaurant in Montreal.

Thanks to the import of a Japanese machine for making noodles, the establishment makes its own homemade noodles from organic wheat, in addition to making its broths, Tsukemono, kombucha and sprouts! The restaurant offers several varieties of ramen and small classics of Japanese Bistronomy in a vegan version. Whether we think of okonomiyaki, gyozas, Agedashi tofu or even tempeh Tonkatsu, Cédric and his team are happy to present to you every day, from starter to dessert, these revisited Japanese classics... just a few exclusives straight out of our kitchens. And who says Izayaka, of course, says refreshing beers, sumptuous wines, intoxicating cocktails, delicate sakes and other fine wine products. At Umami Ramen, we experience cruelty-free gastronomy at its best!

If you want to have a table, you need to reserve on the weekends. The food is pretty good but not the best. The ramen has a bitter after taste but the appetizers & dessert was amazing.

Service impeccable, serveuses professionnelles & sympathiques, belle ambiance. Les entrées d'aubergine & de karaage étaient absolument délicieuses, & les choix de boissons étaient parfaits. Par contre, nous n'avons pas été aussi enthousiasmés par nos choix de ramen (miso épicé & tantanmen), très salés & manquant de subtilité. Le beigne en dessert avait bon goût, mais on l'aurait mangé chaud & moelleux plutôt que température pièce (un tantinet sec). Si nous y retournons, ce sera plutôt pour une formule izakaya (petits plats à partager & boissons, sans les ramen). Une belle découverte quand même, surtout comme option végane!

Je recommande ce restaurant sans la moindre hésitation!
La nourriture & les drinks sont délicieux, les portions sont généreuses & les prix sont plus que raisonnables.
L'endroit est charmant & accueillant alors que le personnel est particulièrement sympathique.
Je recommande le karaage, le ramen mapo tofu épicé & le cocktail au matcha.

Ça ne fait fait pas très japonais. Très épicé pour compenser le manque de saveur, certainement à cause du choix vegan. Ce n est pas mauvais mais ce n est pas non plus bon. Cerise sur le Sunday on te demande 18% pour le service comme premier choix. Il y a mieux ailleurs je n y retournerai pas.

Great food & atmosphere!

That said terminal is pushing you to give 18% tip minimum & that alone is making me hesitant to recommend. Even if the service & food is good, not giving me an option to give 15% except by diving into the menus feels scamy.
