Came out for dinner with my wife. The staff was extremely nice, polite , professional & efficient. The food was unbelievable. I don't usually rave about a place but everything we had was delicious. From the brioche bread. The oysters, tuna crudo & the beet salad as appetizers. Main dish was the duck & the bolognese pasta was incredible. Definitely recommend! My compliments to the chefs & the staff. Keep up the great work !
I went to celebrate my Bday & I was really looking forward to try the duck, but the waiter told me they change menu every other week. I order the chicken which was really good instead. The fried mushrooms were sooooo good but I guess everything that's fry it's better. We were a little bit disappointed of the fish. The taste was not there, the beurre blanc sauce was tasteless not good at all, also we ordered the scallops as an entry & same flavor was tasteless. I guess seafood are not their forte, surprisingly because the sauce of the chicken was amazing. Dessert was ok nothing wow but the espresso martini was really good 😊
My husband & I had an absolutely delicious meal at Tuck Shop. We sat at the Chef's Table, which is always a fun experience for a restaurant to offer (I love an open kitchen). Gabriel, our server, was very attentive - as was the bartender & the rest of the staff. The food was incredible, & all was plated SO beautifully - Michelin star level plating. We started with oysters, & loved their specialty hot sauce that they had on the side. We then split the grilled octopus (which was so tender & not at all chewy like you sometimes get), the pork belly (which came in the most incredible sauce), the Duck Duo (yum!), & the Chocolate Nemesis dessert - which was the only thing I managed to take a picture of. We left with very happy stomachs. Highly recommend!
This is the real deal. Pork belly was wonderful with a Gouda sauce. Duck with foir gras was nuts. Nice scallop crudo. Excellent creme brulee. Wonderful service. Great manager. Worth the trip to that part of town
Great ambience & amazing service! More of a lowkey, casual fine dining place. We got the Focaccia to start & it was honestly the best I ever had. Perfectly salted, super soft on the inside, & add the perfect crisp on the outside. For the mains we split the: - Hanger Steak it was good & the fries were good, but nothing special - Duck magret the duck was cooked soo well & I liked all the complementary components of the dish - Cappelletti my husband loved this dish, but since I'm not a fan of sweeter pasta, I couldn't not taste pumpkin pie. He however, thought it was the best dish out of the 3 we tried
Came here back in November 2023. The food was pretty good. We ordered some oysters, beef tartare, foie torchon, a roasted duck breast, & this godly braised leek with smoked swordfish & caviar dish. I was looking at the recent reviews & it seems they rotated that dish out. Such a shame. Everything was pretty mid, but that one leek dish made this a full-on 5 star experience.
Amazing place to go out for a romantic dinner or just casual dinner out with friends. They alway have a season menu. Eg. in summer they have snow crab which is delicious with some other fish dishes. In winter they have an amazing duck. Totally recommend!
Went there for duck... unfortunately they did not have. Food was fine but no sparks !
We've been to Tuck Shop a handful of times now. I never walk into a restaurant expecting to be disappointed, but the old addage goes "nobody bats a thousand". Tuck Shop. Tuck Shop bats a thousand. This time around we started with the Quebec snow crab legs, followed by the duck breast & the lobster pasta. The crab was sweet, & able to speak for itself. They got out of the way, took the deshelling difficulty with them, & let the flavour shine (with flavoured mayo & cocktail sauce on the side, should one want to dabble). The lobster pasta was perfectly cooked, & not over salted - something I have experienced with so many lobster pasta dishes in the past, that I figured that's just how the world worked. The duck breast dish was the star of the show for me. My amateur words cannot give the flavour its dues. The Dion Waiters award goes to the celery root puree that put up big numbers in a limited game time. Dessert was the olive cake (with rhubarb & vanilla ice cream), & a peach frozen yogurt sandwich. Strong contenders, but still unable to dethrone the homemade apple pie we had on our first visit as my Tuck Shop dessert GOAT. The service was quick, & ever-friendly - a staple of any visit to Tuck Shop. The recommended wine pairings for our mains were right on the money. (Disclaimer: we are far from sommeliers or wine connoisseurs.) We are already looking forward to our next Tuck Shop adventure.
Update April 2024, as good as ever! Wine list, service & food were 5 stars. If you want to splurge on a special occasion this is a top spot in Montreal to do so! Superb service & food. The food speaks for itself. Fresh ingredients, delishious dishes with great flavors. The service is some of the friendliest, most bilingual ive had recently. Could be a little over bearing if you dont want someone checking in on you very often, but for me it added to the night. Duck appetizer, the duck main & the roasted quail.
Prices were high for what the restaurant is. It was too crowded for me, I'd be at peace if it was mentioned in the description that it would be a loud & crowded place... I wasn't expecting such close quarters to other patrons & having to be so close to the servers rear end when they'd serve the table beside us. The starters were good, oysters were absolutely fantastic & the tar tar remarkable, the mains were dull... cappelletti pasta was too thick, undercooked & over salted, & the duck dish's other components which were the sausage & the croquette thing didn't make sense to the orientation of it all. The server that we had looked depressed which really set the tone for the whole meal; however the other servers were actually good, I'd wish they served us instead of the other girl. I brought my aunt for her 42nd birthday here & I wish it would've been better.
We had beef tartare, halibut, duck, & the strawberry smore. Everything was delicious! Great service!
