The food was good, fired mushrooms & fish of the day, but it wasn't'oh my god, there is a festival in my mouth' good. & while I'd be ok with that at a regular-good restaurant ; for a place that claims to offer fine dining experience with the price tag that comes with it, I expected more.
The service was fast & friendly, that's all I can say. It didn't have the attention to detail when the food was presented.
The atmosphere.. it was loud! & that's not a bad thing if that's your vibe. I was sitting at the bar, & chatting up with my neighbors required almost yelling. Those at the table were literally yelling! Again, not a bad thing, it's lively, but not a place for an intimate date night.
The staff are all fantastic,all contributing to a great experience. If I lived in Montreal I would definitely be a regular at this place. Canadians & Australians have so much in common even in French speaking Montreal :)

Everything was good, but oysters were prob the star of the show for me. The oysters tgemselves so fresh & tasty, the vinegar w pepper, the HOUSEMADE HOT SAUCE 🤯best i ever had i cannot believe they dont sell it.
Great service, full restuarant but water was always filled.
The duck was very good & i would recommend it for a main for sure!
Volume is prettyvloud at peak hours but manageable, maybe not the best for a first date spot in that regard.
This was another great dinner - brought a newbie with me & he was blown away - no misses here on the menu - but above & beyond the great food, the service was a few notches above excellent - well done to Liam for the guidance, the recos & frankly just a great attitude, you made the evening that much better ! Easily the best fish dish i've had in years (fluke) - mind blown. I always come back, my friend will be back & TY to the whole team for keeping it at such a high level all these years.
Tuck Shop is the restaurant equivalent of that one friend who never tries too hard but always shows up looking incredible. Tucked on Notre-Dame West in Saint-Henri, it has the rare quality of being a genuinely great restaurant that doesn't seem to know - or care - that it's a genuinely great restaurant. No dress code, no attitude, no one asking you how the first few bites are going. Just good people, good wine, & good food doing its thing.
The steak frites is the kind of dish that makes you briefly angry at every other steak frites you've ever had. Perfectly cooked, no theatrics, no unnecessary foam or micro-herb situation - just meat & fries that have clearly been thought about by people who take the simple stuff seriously. This is the spot where industry people go on their nights off, & if that's not the highest possible endorsement a restaurant can receive, I don't know what is.
A great culinary experience! Our waiter was super fun & made this experience even better. We were in the backroom & it allows you to have a more intimate & cozy meal. The food was amazing & every dish was made to perfection. The portions were perfect. Highly recommend the chocolate espresso cake for dessert! It finishes the meal perfectly. Will be back!
This is our favourite restaurant in the city. We brought my mom here while she was visiting us & had such a great time. The service is attentive without being overbearing & the staff are personable. My mom said it was the best steak she's ever had & has already asked that we come back here on her next trip to Montreal.
Très mauvaise expérience. On était six personnes & à l'unanimité on a été très déçu. Je suis une habituée des restaurants gastronomique & c'est la première fois que je vie ça. Pour le prix, la nourriture n'est pas satisfaisante. La côte de boeuf minuscule, les frites tellement salées qu'on n'a pu les manger. On voulait en commander sans sel mais ils ne sont jamais revenus nous voir après nous avoir servi. La truite ok mais sans plus. Si au moins l'expérience service avait été bien tu as un bon souvenir mais là épouvantable. Pas de bonjour, pas de sourire, vite vite on te sert & on ne revient plus. On était du 1er service alors on sait qu'on doit quitter à une certaine heure. Mais là on c'est fait carrément jeter dehors de façon cavalière. Sans désolé, sans merci…une table à 1500$. Le pire est qu'on a commandé un dernier verre de vin pour terminer la soirée, ils nous servent & nous mettent dehors, on n'a pas eu le temps de le boire, dehors, mais ils on eu le temps de le facturer 18$ le verre. Ouf on va s'en rappeler mais pas pour les bonnes raisons. On en a parlé au gérant mais honnêtement il avait l'air de s'en fouter complètement. A oublier & vite!
Great first experience at Tuck Shop - Amazing food backed by excellent service & atmosphere. Kudos to the chefs & team, will be back for the Pork Belly!

Last night I, along with several friends, had the great pleasure of dining with you. Every aspect of our experience was exemplary & we enjoyed our meals immensely.
On leaving I realised that I had left my shirt/jacket at the table. Liam returned it too me at Honey Martin later in the evening. I cannot thank him enough for his kindness.
I have worked in the service industry my entire life & know that the service we received is not as commonplace as it once was.
Once again I thank you & I look forward to joining you on future visits to Montreal.
