We brought my mom here while she was visiting us & had such a great time. The service is attentive without being overbearing & the staff are personable. My mom said it was the best steak she's ever had & has already asked that we come back here on her next trip to Montreal.
Incredible food & extremely attentive & kind team / service! Visited from London & was our best meal during the 2 weeks. Thanks so much!
Tuck Shop feels less like a restaurant & more like being welcomed into someone's warm, modern kitchen. The whole staff radiates ease & hospitality, from the kitchen to the bar where Laurence guided us with charm & precision-she was attentive, informed, & genuinely kind.
Oysters with house-made hot sauce & a pristine scallop crudo opened the meal perfectly. Then came fried mushrooms & roasted turnips-an umami revelation dusted with nori & kissed with kombu sauce & tartness from green apple. Turning a turnip into a showstopper takes serious talent.
The poule ballotine was deeply flavored, the onglet de boeuf precise & bright with chimichurri. Desserts-a coconut cream pie & a chocolate-coriander pairing-sealed the evening with quiet brilliance.
Refined, intimate, & confident, Tuck Shop is what every neighborhood restaurant should aspire to be.
Tuck Shop is an absolute must-visit if you're in town. Everything - from the food to the service to the atmosphere - is outstanding. The staff are some of the friendliest & kindest I've ever encountered, with incredibly fast & attentive service. The food was delicious across the board, with highlights including the seasonal king crab, the octopus, their classic steak frites, & the chocolate dessert. I cannot recommend Tuck Shop enough & will definitely be coming back.
Recently booked a table at Tuck Shop, & from start to finish, everything was spot on. From the moment we walked in the door, we were immediately taken care of.
The service was outstanding. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly, attentive, & made us feel right at home. They were genuinely excited to share their knowledge about the food & drinks, which made the experience even better.
The wine list is great, & the staff really knows their stuff. We got an awesome recommendation for a bottle that paired perfectly with our meal.
As for the food - we expected it to be so, but it was incredible. We sat at the chef's counter, & it was great to watch the chefs work their magic. Each dish was fresh, full of flavour, & beautifully presented.
The menu changes every month based on what's in season, so you know everything is always fresh & well thought out.
All in all, Tuck Shop is a St. Henri & Montreal gem. Great food, excellent service, & a cool atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!
Came here for a girls night, very cute setting, with a small but yummy menu. Staff is attentive & friendly & happy to answer questions & provide recommendations. As someone with celiac, I wouldn't recommend due to cross contamination & the options were limited. However, for a regular person, definitely worth trying. The highlight of the dinner was the pork belly, absolutely delicious!
My husband & I had an absolutely delicious meal at Tuck Shop. We sat at the Chef's Table, which is always a fun experience for a restaurant to offer (I love an open kitchen). Gabriel, our server, was very attentive - as was the bartender & the rest of the staff. The food was incredible, & all was plated SO beautifully - Michelin star level plating. We started with oysters, & loved their specialty hot sauce that they had on the side. We then split the grilled octopus (which was so tender & not at all chewy like you sometimes get), the pork belly (which came in the most incredible sauce), the Duck Duo (yum!), & the Chocolate Nemesis dessert - which was the only thing I managed to take a picture of. We left with very happy stomachs. Highly recommend!
Wonderful reunion, delicious food & really great service! Jonathan Metcalfe is creative & attentive towards his customers. A superb evening at the Tuck Shop make me happy!
TUCK SHOP is an absolute gem! The espresso martini here is simply the best I've ever had - perfectly crafted & absolutely delicious thanks Karly! Huge thanks to the staff for being so warm & attentive, Gabriel for his fantastic sense of humor that added a special touch to the evening, & Jérémie for the gallant & gracious welcome. The team truly goes above & beyond to create an amazing dining experience. I can't wait to come back!
I spent Friday night at Tuck Shop with my family for my birthday, & it was everything I would have hoped for. The food was excellent, & the service was seamless. I believe our server was named Luis, he was attentive, pleasant & funny. We never once waited for refills of drinks, or were without something we needed. Having worked as a server myself I absolutely appreciate good customer service, & theirs was wonderful. They seemed to work as a team which I love. Between the 5 of us we ordered all of the mains, & each one was great! The oysters were some of the best I've had, & the focaccia was delicious. Honestly one of the best birthday dinners I've had at a restaurant, maybe ever. It's not often that service & food quality both blow me away, & Tuck Shop had the perfect balance of both. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely birthday experience! We will absolutely be back when we're in town next.
We went to Tuck Shop on December 6th for a special occasion- the food was terrific, the service by Luis was impeccable ( two of us worked as servers in the past-he was a perfect waiter- attentive, not pushy, there when we needed him!) & the atmosphere is great- we highly recommend Tuck Shop!
Beautiful inside, love the kitchen! Our waiter was great, & the staff was super friendly & attentive. For the price point, I personally didn't think it was worth it. The chicken was dry & flavourless. Nothing really stood out to me outside of the focaccia. Maybe it was just an off day- as we've heard really good things from others!
Such a great place. I can hardly explain how fantastic this restaurant is. The staff were lively & attentive. Funny & personable. Very cool. The restaurant is cozy & clean. Everything flows nicely. The food is unbelievable. The menu is short & sweet. Everything is a star. Nothing that shouldn't be there. Very well thought out & executed. Fresh grated horseradish & housemade hotsauce for the oysters is a nice detail. If you see miatake mushrooms on the menu, do yourself a favor & order them. You will thank me. Maybe some of the most delicious flavors I've ever tasted. Cod was moist & perfectly seared. Sauces were on point. Hanger steak was cooked perfect medium rare. Awesome fries with the steak. Get the desserts. Chocolate nemesis is decadent. Cheesecake had wonderful fat blueberries bursting with flavor. What a wonderful place. I will be singing its praises until I come back. & I will whenever I'm in Montréal.
My husband & I had dinner here tonight at the chefs bar. Wow - watching the chefs at work was like watching creative artists. The atmosphere was friendly, the staff work together effortlessly. The service was extremely attentive with great explanations of the dishes on the menu. The food certainly did not disappoint- my husband had the tuna appetizer & I had the heirloom tomatoes- both beautiful & delicious. We had a fish dish & lamb shank for our main courses - phenomenal flavor & again presentation was on point. I don't know how we found the room but we had a chocolate dessert with pear gelato - almost too good to eat....but we did! Do yourself favor & make a reservation if you are in the area.
spent my birthday & tuck shop & i WISH i remembered our waitresses name. she was so attentive & took some great pictures of our party to help us commemorate the celebration. entire staff was incredibly attentive- clearing silverware & plates between courses, refilling water, attending to our every want or need. couldn't have asked for better service!! the food was DYNAMITE!! 🧨🔥 the oysters were from new brunswick & tasted so fresh, served with shredded horseradish, a lovely sweet onion sauce, lemon, cocktail & hot sauce. we tried the mushroom toast which had chanterelles, lobster mushroom & it looked like some tiny button mushrooms. perfect umami flavor! the market salad was light & refreshing. all were easily split amongst our party. i tried the chicken ballotine for my main & it was divine! it was presented beautifully as medallions- the outside skin was crispy while the inside was tender & juicy. perfectly complemented by the pomme puree, mushrooms, legumes & other vege. the other mains in our party were so good, every plate went back completely clean! i had a refreshing moscow mule & also the chocolate plum sundae for dessert. it was rich but heavenly- perfect to share so everyone can try a few bites. we will definitely be back! this place is a gem. thank you to all staff at tuck shop for making my birthday so special. cheers!
Atmosphere was amazing, service was fast & attentive. But the steak i ordered was overcooked, dry & equivalent to a flank steak i could by from Walmart. Places like these should have food you crave & not only bells/whistles. It's mediocre for the price you pay.
First, let's address the outside of the restaurant, looks a bit too sketchy for the price point, however as soon as we got through the doors, it's definitely well decorated. Second, the chef seat (seats facing the kitchen). It was really interesting to watch the cooks, however, the main focal point that we could see, he wasn't prepping our food, except the oysters, he was prepping for the shift (we arrived as they opened, 5pm). I was hoping to see more of our dishes garnished/prepped, since we went for the sampling menu. Third, the drinks, we can't comment as we don't drink alcohol & chose to just stick with water. Fourth, the food.you can tell the cooks are exquisitely skilled & masters at what they do. That being said, for 100+ per person, I must nitpick. The food was just slightly too salty. Some elements of some dishes I couldn't stomach because of the salt levels. For reference, I usually never drink water with my meals, I was chugging water between each course. The ingredients definitely are super fresh & of high quality. The sampling menu is 105$ per person. Portions were big & filling. The food is very good but not fantastic because it was too salty. Fifth, the service. The service is impeccable. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, & willing to help. Clean dishes after every service. Lots of water filling. Big smile. Exceptionally attentive. 10/10 The tldr, ambiance 10/10, ingredients 10/10, service 10/10, cook skills 10/10, how salty the dishes were 6/10. Seeing our dished being cooked 4/10 : only saw our oysters being shucked, would've been nice to have the chefs talk to us (not a single word was spoken by the chef). I believe your experience will be better than mine, the staff & chefs do seem to take the feedback very seriously. :)
Food was awesome! Service was very attentive. We really enjoyed our evening out - thanks for a great time. We'll definitely be back!
You need to go here! We were immediately greeted by friendly staff & taken to our table. Our water glasses were full the entire time thanks to the attentive waiters. Our server Gabe gave a fantastic wine recommendation & he made the experience so enjoyable! The atmosphere was beautiful between the dimmed lights & lovely music. The food was *chefs kiss*. I'll fly back to Montreal just to come here again!
