Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada 2026: Official Weekend Schedule

Montreal's Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve welcomes back the pinnacle of motorsport from May 22 to May 24, 2026. This year promises even more action with the inclusion of the Sprint format, ensuring high-stakes racing across all three days.

Friday, May 22: The Speed Sets In

The weekend kicks off on Friday with the roar of engines as drivers take to the track for the only practice session of the event. Fans will want to be in their seats by early afternoon to see how the teams adapt to the technical demands of the Montreal circuit.

Free Practice 1: 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM

Sprint Qualifying: 4:30 PM - 5:14 PM

Evening Highlight: Look for live music and fan activations at the CGV Experience starting shortly after the final track session.

Saturday, May 23: The Sprint & The Stakes

Saturday is a double-feature day. The morning begins with the Sprint Race, a 100km dash to the finish line where championship points are on the line and no pit stops are required. After the dust settles from the Sprint, the teams reset for the standard Qualifying session in the late afternoon, which determines the starting grid for Sunday's main event.

F1 Sprint Race: 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM

F1 Qualifying: 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Sunday, May 24: Grand Prix Sunday

The main event arrives on Sunday afternoon. Following the traditional Drivers' Parade, the 20 drivers will line up for 70 laps of intense racing. Known for its "Wall of Champions" and heavy braking zones, the Canadian Grand Prix is often one of the most unpredictable races on the calendar.

Drivers' Parade: 2:00 PM

Grand Prix du Canada (70 Laps): 4:00 PM
