Been a good number of times. Simply overpriced. About 1/3 of the dishes are great, 1/3 ok & some real misses. Nice service & comfortable space.
Wonderful evening at Le Tuck Shop in Saint Henri Server was as personable as he was professional - he knew his stuff. The place was pretty busy given it was a Monday night. Ate on the terrasse while the weather still permitted it. Terrific evening. Among the dishes we enjoyed & shared were fried zucchini blossoms, with feta, tzatziki , Northern New Brunswick Oysters, Braised beef medaglioni & smiked rainbow trout (delicious).
This is a small, very chic spot with incredible food. They were able to accommodate our 10 person party for an event & made it so fun, special & memorable. They were exceedingly accommodating of dietary restrictions & our vegetarians got food just as fresh & exciting as everyone else's! Would go back here again & again. Special shout out to Gabriel for keeping us laughing (& taking the joking around as well as he dished it!)
One of my favourite restaurants in Montreal! The dishes are amazing, & the ambiance is welcoming & warm. The service is also exceptional.
If you're looking for an upscale dining experience, without the stuffy interior that tends to come with fine dining, I highly recommend Tuckshop. Plus, they're open on Mondays.
My husband & I had dinner here tonight at the chefs bar. Wow - watching the chefs at work was like watching creative artists. The atmosphere was friendly, the staff work together effortlessly. The service was extremely attentive with great explanations of the dishes on the menu. The food certainly did not disappoint- my husband had the tuna appetizer & I had the heirloom tomatoes- both beautiful & delicious. We had a fish dish & lamb shank for our main courses - phenomenal flavor & again presentation was on point. I don't know how we found the room but we had a chocolate dessert with pear gelato - almost too good to eat....but we did! Do yourself favor & make a reservation if you are in the area.
We had an amazing experience here with Michelle, Jonathan, & the whole team. We started with the foccacia & shared the corn agnolotti, chicken ballotine, & the hangar steak. All dishes were wonderfully cooked & Michelle convinced us to share 3 dishes & taste more. Her knowledge & personality set the meal apart for us! The cooking chops & flavors on their own were extremely impressive, but the hospitality here is next level.. We also had the blueberry cheescake for dessert, that was memorable & had some unique traits that made it stick out. I can't say enough good things! Come here with friends & indulge!
Had a great evening at Tuck Shop. Food & service was too notch. Lots of options for seating, super nice & quiet back terrace. All the dishes we tried were delicious!
Amazing place to go out for a romantic dinner or just casual dinner out with friends. They alway have a season menu. Eg. in summer they have snow crab which is delicious with some other fish dishes. In winter they have an amazing duck. Totally recommend!
Unfortunately underwhelming meal. Although the food was good, the taste & creativity of the dishes were far below expectations, hence they could not rise up to the posted prices. We opted out of dessert to limit the disappointment. My experience from a few years ago was 5 stars, as the food was fantastic & we left on a full & happy stomach. Truly hoping this local spot can get back to that level.
First, let's address the outside of the restaurant, looks a bit too sketchy for the price point, however as soon as we got through the doors, it's definitely well decorated. Second, the chef seat (seats facing the kitchen). It was really interesting to watch the cooks, however, the main focal point that we could see, he wasn't prepping our food, except the oysters, he was prepping for the shift (we arrived as they opened, 5pm). I was hoping to see more of our dishes garnished/prepped, since we went for the sampling menu. Third, the drinks, we can't comment as we don't drink alcohol & chose to just stick with water. Fourth, the food.you can tell the cooks are exquisitely skilled & masters at what they do. That being said, for 100+ per person, I must nitpick. The food was just slightly too salty. Some elements of some dishes I couldn't stomach because of the salt levels. For reference, I usually never drink water with my meals, I was chugging water between each course. The ingredients definitely are super fresh & of high quality. The sampling menu is 105$ per person. Portions were big & filling. The food is very good but not fantastic because it was too salty. Fifth, the service. The service is impeccable. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, & willing to help. Clean dishes after every service. Lots of water filling. Big smile. Exceptionally attentive. 10/10 The tldr, ambiance 10/10, ingredients 10/10, service 10/10, cook skills 10/10, how salty the dishes were 6/10. Seeing our dished being cooked 4/10 : only saw our oysters being shucked, would've been nice to have the chefs talk to us (not a single word was spoken by the chef). I believe your experience will be better than mine, the staff & chefs do seem to take the feedback very seriously. :)
We've been to Tuck Shop a handful of times now. I never walk into a restaurant expecting to be disappointed, but the old addage goes "nobody bats a thousand". Tuck Shop. Tuck Shop bats a thousand. This time around we started with the Quebec snow crab legs, followed by the duck breast & the lobster pasta. The crab was sweet, & able to speak for itself. They got out of the way, took the deshelling difficulty with them, & let the flavour shine (with flavoured mayo & cocktail sauce on the side, should one want to dabble). The lobster pasta was perfectly cooked, & not over salted - something I have experienced with so many lobster pasta dishes in the past, that I figured that's just how the world worked. The duck breast dish was the star of the show for me. My amateur words cannot give the flavour its dues. The Dion Waiters award goes to the celery root puree that put up big numbers in a limited game time. Dessert was the olive cake (with rhubarb & vanilla ice cream), & a peach frozen yogurt sandwich. Strong contenders, but still unable to dethrone the homemade apple pie we had on our first visit as my Tuck Shop dessert GOAT. The service was quick, & ever-friendly - a staple of any visit to Tuck Shop. The recommended wine pairings for our mains were right on the money. (Disclaimer: we are far from sommeliers or wine connoisseurs.) We are already looking forward to our next Tuck Shop adventure.
Update April 2024, as good as ever! Wine list, service & food were 5 stars. If you want to splurge on a special occasion this is a top spot in Montreal to do so! Superb service & food. The food speaks for itself. Fresh ingredients, delishious dishes with great flavors. The service is some of the friendliest, most bilingual ive had recently. Could be a little over bearing if you dont want someone checking in on you very often, but for me it added to the night. Duck appetizer, the duck main & the roasted quail.
An amazing St-Henri staple that we love to go when we want to celebrate something special. Friendly service & not pretentious at all. Best thing to do: get a few dishes to share so you taste as many as possible!
Fine dining prices for decent quality. Can find dishes like this for significantly cheaper anywhere in mtl. $21 for 12 poorly cooked Brussel sprouts for example is absurd. Server was rushing us out the entire time.
The culinary finesse & aesthetic appeal of the dishes at Tuck Shop are flawlessly complemented by the staff's top-notch service. As regulars who often celebrate special occasions here, my wife & I are continually charmed by the experience. My go-to dish is the hanger steak served with chimichurri & accompanied by crisp fries, while my wife usually opts for the freshest catch of the day. If available, don't overlook the focaccia - it's a flavour-packed masterpiece that's nothing short of divine.
