The food was inventive & unique, demonstrating excellent quality & technique. The serving staff were outstanding: incredibly humorous, attentive, & accommodating. It was a five-star evening defined by great food & genuinely fun service.
The staff were very attentive, even from the message I sent when making my reservation. They also greeted me with a smile & courtesy after I arrived. I chose the seven-course tasting menu. All the dishes were delicately & beautifully presented & delicious. The waitress explained each dish clearly, allowing me to enjoy the meal. I usually pair my wine with wine, but unfortunately I had drunk too much the night before & couldn't enjoy the wine. As I was leaving, they even made a special Japanese menu rist for me as a gift, since I'm Japanese. I really appreciated their thoughtfulness. I'd definitely like to come back & dine here again when I'm in Montreal. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I visited this restaurant & tried their seven-course tasting menu, hoping to be amazed by their seasonal dishes. Unfortunately, I was disappointed & didn't notice the fall season ingredients. The presentation was good, but the serving sizes were a bit small. The service was amazing, & the staff were very approachable. The atmosphere was lively & enjoyable.
Having a dinner at Le Toque was one the highlights of my trip to Montreal. This restaurant truly live up to its reputation as one of Canada's finest destination.
Food: Each dish was a work of art, beautifully plated & bursting with flavor. The tasting menu showcased incredible local ingredients, especially the seafood & seasonal vegetable. The foie gras starter was rich & perfectly balanced.
Service: The staff was warm, knowledgeable, & attractive without being intrusive. They guided us through the wine pairings with enthusiasm, & it was clear they take price in what they do.
Ambiance: Elegant yet comfortable. The dining room has a refined, modern aesthetic with just the right level of intinmacy for the special evening.
Price & values: It is a high-end dining experience, so the prices are premium, but for the quality, creativity, & service provided, it felt well worth it. This is a place for celebrating & savoring.
Highlights: The chef's commitment to showcasing is impressive, & the wine pairing was spot on.
My husband & I ordered the $200/ person tasting menu. The appetizers were tasty. we were looking forward to an equally good main dish. However, the main course: beef steak was so tough that we had to return it. For replacement, they brought us a pasta dish.
First of all, the quality of the beef was so terrible, it is the worst steak I ever had in a fine restaurant. It is a shame that Toque served it to their customers. Secondly, the replacement pasta dish is not the same value as the beef steak. It is not what we expected from a high end restaurant. We will not be recommending this place to anyone who enjoys fine food.
Montreal staple, tasting menu was well thought out for the most part on the day we dined. Was a little disappointed to be served tuna twice in seven dishes- hence the 4 stars, especially considering the cost.
Wind pairing is highly recommended, well described & explained. Very knowledgeable.
Service was impeccable.
Best meal & experience in Montreal. Highly recommend tasting menu.
Great service & even better food. Their tasting menu's price is steep but you cant go wrong.
Its Montreal's best dinner experience.
Had the most amazing evening here tonight with my son. Tasting menu was amazing. More importantly though, we were taken care of so very well. It almost made me cry. It was almost twenty years between my first time eating here & tonight. I hope I can come back again much sooner.
Edit: I just remembered a moment that seemed almost innocuous at the time, but thinking about it now has me in happy tears. My son needed to use the restroom & wanted me to come with him to help find it. When we returned two our table, two of the staff that were serving us were standing at our table waiting to help us back into our seats.
You guys could not have made this a more memorable experience. It was utterly flawless.
Thank you so very much. ❤?
Truly other worldly food. Something I wish all of my loved ones could experience. More than I have ever spent on food, but what an experience. I will remember it for the rest of my life. Exceptional! We went with the tasting menu & the wine pairing, trusting in the tastes & selections of the chef & sommelier, & we were surprised & delighted by every bite.
An unforgettable dining experience! The food was delicious & artfully plated! Thanks chefs for adjusting the entire tasting menu to fit my dietary restrictions with care & creativity. Each wine pairing came with a well told captivating story. Our waitress was warm & attentive, & the bartender dazzled us with creative mocktails. The cozy, elegant ambiance made it all the more special. A true feast for all the senses!
While I truly appreciated the experience, the high price point didn't quite match the overall wow factor I was hoping for - which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5.
Choice of blind tasting menu or a la carte. Excellent options & presentation. The halibut was excellent!
We had wine pairing with tasting menu! It was amazing & tasty from the beginning to end
We did the 7 course tasting menu which is made up of 3 appetizers, 2 entrees, a pre-dessert or cheese dish, & dessert. I had been expecting 3 entrees but since there were only 2 & the portions were small, I was still hungry even after eating 2 slices of bread already. I would've eaten more bread if they hadn't taken it away already without asking us if we were done & without telling us that dessert was next. So $200+ per person for some food & lots of bread.
Our first time at Toque gave us memories of good food many years ago. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case.
Really enjoyable tasting menus. They were happy to accommodate not just dietary restrictions but also preferences. I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms due to the texture of them sometimes so when I said that, they were happy to adjust my plates accordingly. 10 likes & I'll say what the picture was.
Amazing! A restaurant worth their Michelin Star. We were visiting from Chicago & enjoyed dinning at Toqué. They truly surprised us with their Tasting Menu, everything from the wine to the food was delicious. Bravo!
Did the tasting menu for the entire family, 1000$ for 5, meal was seriously lacking in flavour. Started off with a great lobster mousse, but then came the scallop & it wasn't as fresh as it could be(bit fishy considering my meal at La Mer in Hawaii for 600$ pp also had raw scallop that weren't fishy), the second course was some kind of a couple vegetables in vinegar, tasted absolutely awful, so far 2/2 not edible. The duck we had was very tough & the fat not rendered, flavours once again sour. For the steak it was slightly too rare(I like medium rare) closer to blue rare, sauce again sour. Dessert had yuzu(again sour) not sure if the chef has a palate issue causing everything to be sour. I've had tons of tasting menus between the states & Vancouver where I reside & this is probably the worst one I've ever had. Very disappointing especially since I was treating my parents for their first haute cuisine meal. Was going to bring some friends over later this week & immediately canceled my reservation after today. Service was great though
Service was great, ambiance was great, the decor was a refreshing take that gave a retro-space-age-esque vibe to it which was really pretty (reminded me of the hotels of The Shining & The Grand Budapest). The tasting menu was a 7-course meal. The first couple appetizers were interesting but missed the mark. They were too similar in flavour that used the same broth. There was a lamb dish (shoulder & belly (?)) that was wonderfully tender but tragically under-seasoned. The foie gras tartine with a toasted brioche bun was delightfully memorable. The two desserts were also a highlight of the meal. Overall, a great meal, but nothing eye-opening.
Literal art on every dish! The tasting menu was a treat for all the senses & soooo good for the soul! Each dish was incredibly delicious, attentive service, & the ambiance so chic & intimate. Truly one of my favorite tasting experiences in Montreal.
Enjoyed a multi-course tasting menu here which was a treat to our senses! The service was excellent & the staff were very kind & courteous to accommodate our schedule to make some adaptations! Come here to enjoy a delicious feast!
