My brother & I have tried so many sushi restaurants in montreal, but literally no one can beat the taste & freshness of Hidden fish's sashimi & maki . We've been coming back over & over again for the last 4 years & every single time the food, service & vibe were immaculate! ( P.S : Maki Nobunaga is to die for !!)
The food is simply perfection. As a fish & sushi lover, this place is my go-to. Ordered mostly the fish on the menu, not the sushi because the fish is out of this world. I did find that the waiter did not give the menu the attention it deserved. Not everyone knows the different kinds of fish & he didn't go through it extensively. At the price we are
Paying, I would have appreciated a more extensive run-down of what is being offered on the menu. I had 2 friends who didn't eat fish & the waiter didn't accommodate to them, rather told them to'just try the fish'. Aside from that, the quality & freshness of the food never ceases to impress me.

Exceptionally delicious. The fish is very fresh, & the taste is amazing. It is expensive though, so expect to pay around 150-210 CAD per person. But definitely worth the try.
They age fish & wagyu in-house, & charge a hefty premium on the aged pieces as compared to the already very expensive staples.
With interesting ingredients & aged meats, I was really looking forward to the meal. Overall, I had nothing bad, but It's not really the sushi experience I hoped for. Everything was smothered in fragrant sauces & toppings, taking away from the delicate flavours of the component ingredients & the star proteins. If I had gone in not expecting sushi, but a Japanese-fusion crudo experience, i probably would have felt better. At the same time, I would not have ordered the premium cuts.
Sitting at the counter with the meat aging fridge right in front of me, I could not pass up a chance to try some. We ordered the aged otoro sashimi, which came topped with some caviar. It was probably the best dish of the night, as it had the least added sauce/seasoning. It was not the richest otoro, & I could not discern any difference in texture or flavour from non-aged, but it had a nice bite & flavour all the same.
We tried several different nigiri. This was where the sushi-disappointment set in. The rice was really heavily seasoned, almost like a sweet teriyaki, & every piece of fish was first slathered in strong sauce & then covered with pungent toppings. The unagi was ok, as the Smokey flavour of the Bonito topping complemented the eel, & you are expecting a sweet & saucy bite anyway. The chutoro was the least sauced, but was also the least fresh tasting of the fish.
In the rolls, we ordered a vegetable & pickle roll, a tuna roll, & a crab roll. The veg & crab were in a soy skin instead of nori, which didn't have much flavor & had an odd texture. The crab was probably my favourite of the three, as the meat flavour went well with the very sweet sauce.
The staff were all very nice & very helpful, & service was relaxed & low pressure, which I appreciated.
At well over $400 for two, where I left still hungry, I highly doubt I will return. Sad because the ingredients have so much potential
This is a first for me at an authentic Japanese sushi restaurant & not an All You Can Eat. The restaurant is located in the city center, so be patient to find parking. The location is just south of Ste-4. The place is rather dark, not very bright & not busy, just a few tables are occupied (3) At reception we can lay out our coats to make ourselves more comfortable. The bench seems more comfortable than the chairs. There are more servers than clients, therefore very personalized services. The characteristics of each sushi are clearly explained to us. Once the order is placed there is a small wait as they serve us freshly made for each order. I'm not a sushi expert!!! I liked the taste & especially the presentation but I couldn't say that it is far superior to the sushi at other restaurants. Yes we can clearly see that there is less rice & that the taste is more pronounced & offers a good feeling in the mouth. I had the sushi with Wagyu beef as well as the shrimp. The dessert is different from what we are usually used to. Excellent quiet place, the temperature is correct, I don't remember if there was music good point because I don't like speaking loudly or hearing music that rings in my ears.

I think this was the best sashimi & nigiri I have ever had! The fish was phenomenal. It was so tasty & fresh & almost melted in your mouth. All of us really enjoyed the meal. The atmosphere is really nice very quaint & the service was fantastic.
Best sushi I have had. Whatever negative reviews there are, I would ignore them & try the restaurant anyways(as we did!). Service was impeccable, presentation was amazing, & the freshness of the fish was perfect. Will definitely return, & have already suggested to friends & family!
Hidden Fish is a cozy & charming spot for sushi lovers! Their fresh salmon is absolutely delightful & a highlight of the menu. It's easily one of the best places to enjoy sushi, with a focus on quality & a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an exceptional sushi experience. Don't forget to reserve in advance!

The service & atmosphere 10/10. Waiter was well-informed & the chef's seemed very competent! Not all every sushi piece was great but overall, it is a good-tasting sushi restaurant. It's the aftermath that did not sit so well. I am not sure how fresh their ingredients were for the 5pm sitting but immediately after leaving the restaurant, I could feel that the food was not going to sit well. Food poisoning? I'm sure you can fill in the blanks of what happened as soon as I got home. I've eaten at numerous sushi restaurants all over Japan & at fish markets as well; never had this kind of stomach upset at an somewhat middle/high-end restaurant. TBD if I'd try again with my friends. But thumbs up for the vibe & service.
Sushi Hidden Fish Beautiful, Elegant, Elevated. A Truly impressive sushi experience, I heard great things but was not prepared for the level of skill, incredible taste & freshness. The decor is a notable highlight, large selection of imported Saki, they have a private room upstairs for larger groups as well, equally beautiful as the rest of the spaces. The Nigiri was my favorite, 6 assorted pieces.. spoke to the waiter & asked for another round & it came out completely different the second time, which was an amazing surprise! the Blue-fin tuna was my favorite. I tried the Uni, the Waygu Beef & a couple other unique rolls, All perfect. Overall the experience was one for the books, I will surely be back & with more colleagues. Thanks for having me. Cheers!
I recently discovered an amazing place - Sushi Hidden Fish! To be honest, I've been looking for a restaurant with authentic Japanese cuisine in Montreal for a long time, & here it is! The atmosphere there is simply incredible - calm & cozy, with a modern interior, but at the same time you can feel the spirit of Japan. The sushi & sashimi are to die for! Everything is very fresh & beautifully presented. It is clear that the products are of the highest quality, & the chefs know their stuff. The prices, of course, are not the lowest, but believe me, it's worth it! The service is also top notch - the waiters are very attentive & friendly. In general, if you want to try real Japanese cuisine in Montreal, I highly recommend Sushi Hidden Fish. Just book a table in advance, otherwise there may not be any seats. #SushiHiddenFish #Montreal #JapaneseFood #AuthenticCuisine #Sushi #Sashimi #FreshIngredients #GreatService #CozyAtmosphere #ModernInterior #MustTry #Foodie #MontrealRestaurants

I went there for our wedding anniversary. We asked them to take care of us with a given budget. Service was impeccable, they even offered dessert as a gift for our anniversary. Sushi's were so fresh & delicious. One of the really good Montreal sushi restaurants that I recommend!
