Sumo Ramen focuses on the preparation of traditional Japanese noodle bowls featuring rich, slow-simmered broths alongside a variety of grilled meat and vegetable selections. The menu highlights authentic ramen craftsmanship, utilizing springy wheat noodles and carefully balanced tare bases to build layers of savory flavor. Guests encounter a straightforward approach to Japanese grill culture where skewers and proteins are seared to achieve optimal texture. The space maintains a functional aesthetic designed to emphasize the speed and precision of the kitchen operation. Every dish adheres to core culinary techniques found in regional Japanese kitchens, prioritizing depth of flavor and quality ingredients in every bowl served. This establishment delivers a consistent experience for those seeking intense, umami-forward ramen recipes paired with charred, high-heat grill offerings in a focused and efficient setting.

Sumo Ramen consistently earns praise for warm hospitality, flavorful broths, generous portions, and a lively, welcoming atmosphere, with many reviewers calling it one of the best ramen spots in Montreal. The menu is lauded for its variety and customization, including house-made miso, several broth options (miso, shoyu, beef), and vegetarian choices, and the noodles are often described as well cooked with plentiful toppings. Prices are repeatedly noted as reasonable for the quality, and service is described as fast, friendly, and attentive, with several mentions of a cozy decor and a family-friendly vibe. Some reviews mention a recent move to a new downstairs location and occasional inconsistencies or moments of slower service, but overall experiences remain highly positive and many say they would return.
One of my go-to comfort food spots for years. They've recently levelled up to a new first-floor space with a nicely renovated dining area-but the best parts are unchanged: the same cook, the same friendly staff, & the same amazing flavours.
Just a few minutes from the Montreal Science Centre & the Old Port of Montreal, right on the main street of Chinatown, Montreal. Great food, welcoming atmosphere, & a much more affordable option than many Old Port restaurants.
Great food for a Great price for this economy. Loved the options & that you can choose any noodle or broth to your ramen. The inside of the restaurant was very colorful & fun to match with the aesthetic of the restaurant food. Very fast service too.
& côté qualité/prix on s'y retrouve toujours. ✨❤?
I've been coming here for over 10 years, the food as always been delicious, & the atmosphere in the new location is extremely relaxing & cool. Cheap menus as well, well worth your money!
Everything was really good as usual!
Been going there the past 10-13 years,
They now moved to the below floor & It looks really good !
I took the grilled chicken, Sumo ramen extra stewed beef & a sapporo & it hit the right spot 🥰🥰
This is one of my favorite Ramen spot on Montréal 🥰
Probably one of the best Ramen places in Montreal. Large variety of entrées, nice variety of rare ramen dishes like beef, shrimp, & kimchi ramen. Portion size is large with lots of noodles. Their kimchi is homemade & super delicious! Most places don't even have kimchi anymore. They also have homemade chili crisp with a bottle on every table, love that!
Highly recommend this place, go enjoy yourself there. It's totally worth it!
