Between two people we ordered a rye soup, pierogi plate, kielbasa, plus a peach cobbler for dessert. All were excellent though the cobbler was the most memorable!
It was a well-rounded, tasty meal that was surprisingly light. The ambiance is well thought out too; it's dark inside & lit by red lampshades. Will go back again!

L'atmosphère est chaleureuse. Le menu comporte une sélection de mets traditionnels qui semblent authentiques. La table d'hôte est une bonne façon de découvrir le menu & reste abordable. Le repas est rassasiant.

This is a busy restaurant but they do take reservations. I would recommend that you make one. Delish food, amazing atmosphere, the wait for food was not long. However, our server never once asked if we wanted another drink & did not refill our water. Otherwise an excellent experience.

We arrived at 1:10 PM for lunch & were seated at 1:30 PM, which is not really a problem. However, unfortunately, we received the bill at 5 PM.
In more detail, an hour went by after our order was taken before our appetizers arrived, another hour for our mains, & another hour for dessert. The food was delicious but needing to wait nearly 4 hours for lunch (all the food was ordered promptly by 1:30 PM) is insanity.
For the prices being charged, the slowness of the service was unacceptable. The waiters were polite & largely this is the fault of the kitchen. Some kind of comping given the circumstances would have been appreciated, but hey...

Definitely add this to your list. The ambience was quite cozy & romantic. They had a pianist playing music & it was a the right level. We tried the mixed perogis, crepe, & the potato pancake. The food was absolutely delicious & we will definitely be coming back.

I had an enjoyable time at Stash Cafe, I deduct a star for a few minor inconveniences.
We had specifically booked for after 7 for the live piano. Unfortunately, not much of it was heard as it's by the door & no mic present to amplify throughout the restaurant.
As you can see there is maybe 20cm of space between the tables. I could barely hear my wife across from me with the older gentleman on my side screaming over to his wife, let alone the piano.
The cabbage rolls were very nice. The goulash was okay, I will say the Mrs makes an amazing one so hard to be blown away when we go out.
We have asked for tequila to be substituted for vodka in a cocktail, was happy it was not a problem. Not so happy when the bill came with an extra $4 charge for this change. I don't care for $4, but I would've liked to know ahead.
Overall it was a pleasant experience, not mind blowing.

Every time I'm in Montreal, Stash Café is my dinner place - without question. We just went three nights in a row, & I still couldn't get enough. I could honestly go a fourth.
This place feels like a warm hug the second you walk in. The food is pure comfort - hearty, rich, & absolutely delicious. & the best part? There was nothing bad on the menu that I've tried. Every dish has been a hit, each one better than the last.
The vibe is fantastic - cozy & full of soul, especially with the live piano player creating the perfect ambiance (& yes, make sure to tip - it's part of the magic!). This is easily one of my favourite spots in Montreal, especially on a cold winter evening when it truly warms your soul.
The experience is made even better by the incredible staff. The servers are always polite, smiling, & genuinely kind - warm service that matches the restaurant's atmosphere. It makes you want to stay longer, order more, & come back tomorrow… which we did.
If it's your first time, trust me & go for the pierogies & the mixed platter - the best way to try a bit of everything. Also - don't skip dessert. The desserts are just as delicious as the mains, perfectly sweet, comforting, & unforgettable.
Authentic. Soul-warming. Addictive.
Highly recommend - just be warned, you might end up going three nights in a row too.
