We went there at 830 am & the bagels were cold & rock hard. It was very disappointing. Service was good. The restaurant is only to go.
When we were planning our trip to Montreal, we kept seeing that bagels were a must try so we headed out to St-Viateur to try them out. This place is strictly grab-n-go & geared to people buying bagels to eat elsewhere. They do have fridges filled with cream cheese & stuff that you can also buy. I kinda wish they had a little cafe where you could get a bagel sandwich or just buy 1 bagel with cream cheese in it instead of buying a big tub.
We picked up an All dressed, Blueberry, & Cinnamon Raisin & brought it back to our hotel along with some cream cheese. Yet we're OK... not gonna lie, they tasted like bagels, with a bit of chewy texture inside. Would have been better lightly toasted. I think I liked the cinnamon the best but the all dressed had the strongest flavor (it also left the most seeds in my teeth).
This store also sells some souvenirs like bags, keychain, & bagel stuffie. We went on the afternoon & it wasn't very busy (2-3 people ahead of us in the line).
Sells only bagels, no sit down - which is the norm in Canada, but felt weird visiting from the US
The freshness of the bagels & all types of different flavors it just smells amazing when you walk through the door & it's so good. The best bagels hands down. Don't argue with me & try it yourself ☝🏼
We tried the famous St-Viateur Bagels for our breakfast. There was a queue & we had to wait for around 15 minutes. Please note that they do not have the bagel sandwiches at this location. You have to go to their other location for the bagel sandwiches. They only accept debit card or cash.
We ordered their sesame bagels, spice everything, all dressed & blueberry bagel. The sesame bagel was the softest & the best in my opinion. Then comes the spice everything & all dressed bagels. The blueberry one was hard & not that good. You can buy the cheese spreads. They give you the disposable knife. You have to spread it on your own.
If you're in Montreal, do not skip on these bagels.
This is the spot for old school proper bagels. Fire made. Great flavor. Not overpriced.
My favorite bagel spot in the city.
Bagels, les meilleurs!
La place est ordinaire mais ça va vite. Ils vendent juste ça & petits items d'accompagnement dans un frigo.
