cash(73) fresh(63) cheese(60) sandwich(59) sandwiches(56) recommend(45) traditional(43) sesame(40) debit(32) cafe(32) to go(29) salmon(28)I have to admit that I think of the St. Viateur bagel as the more refined northern cousin of the traditional NYC bagel. It is more delicate; not quite as chewy, & a little bit thinner (so no need for the diet-concious to scoop out the middle. Mine was nicely controlled with sesame seeds. My "traditional had excellent lox & was piled high with tomato slices, onions, capers, & (of course!) wonderful cream cheese.
The food was absolutely delicious & the service was top-notch. Our server "gurpreet", was incredibly friendly & nice guy.
We came to try the bagels, here the bagels are freshly made but also filled with various fillings unlike their other bakeries. Tried the Joe bagel & the apple cinnamon cream & they didn't disappoint. There was a long queue outside so be prepared to wait. Service was quick & atmosphere was good. It's cramped inside, overall a good experience, worth going to try the food if you like bagels.
We decided to try the bagels, a specialty of Montreal, after seeing that this restaurant was known for offering some of the best. We were warmly welcomed, & chose three different varieties of bagels, all of which were delicious.
- Must try if you're in Montreal - Shocked that a touristic place won't take international credit cards, terrible idea - Bagel sandwiches are good - Manager (we think) was super rude, shouting & moving people around. Be prepared to be yelled at & wait long lines on busy weekends.
Les meilleurs Bagels mais le service n'est pas très chaleureux , on se demande parfois si ils nous ont vu ... mais si on veut des bagel frais il faut passer par la !
After watching somebody feed Phil my husband & I HAD to visit this place as bagel loving people. We are now a house divided. He loved every morsel 5 stars...I left surely disappointed by the famous Montreal bagel, but service & vibe was lovely.
True Montreal bagels found here with a variety of delicious toppings. Coffee was terrific, too!
Good bagel, nothing out of the ordinary but still delicious. Foreign cards are not accepted, come prepared with cash.
A friend recommended this spot during our travels in Montreal, glad we checked it out. The food was delicious & the floor manager runs a tight ship with traffic flow. At this spot you can order to go, sit & eat or order bulk & merch. Only takes cash (USD, CA or CA debit, no credit cards). Definitely worth checking out.
Delicious Bagels! they are sold at restaurants all over the Montreal, they are the best bagels I ever had, & I'm from NYC. Flavors are incredible, texture is soft & tasty. We visited 2 times before leave, they have a diverse range of options, so we took some back home. They provided with bags in case you want to freeze them. The staff are friendly, nice & helpful. If you see a line outside is quick & well-organized.
showed up midday & had 3-4 groups ahead of us. the wait went by quickly though, & was well worth it! had sandwiches on the rosemary & salt bagels with pesto & mayo, which was very very good. the seating is a bit crowded & hectic inside as someone new is getting seated every 2-3 minutes. clearly a well-oiled machine, very efficient & great taste!
