My son & I shared a Special Pete, smoke meat sandwich with fries, coselaw & a Cott Cherry Coke. Music was a bit load(not live). I will go back for live Blues Band for sure. Asked for gravy but it was 5$ for a small cup so we decided to pass, I guess whatever little extra the kitchen must do is a big bother so they are trying to discourage you. They serve a little cup of ribs while in the line to order.View more
By Far the best Smoke Meat & Fries in Greater Montreal!! Plus incredible Blues Music on weekends.View more
One of the best smoked meats you'll ever have served with the best fries...possibly on earth! (Author doesn't know what he's talking about, has not tried all fries on earth, but these are particularly phenomenal)View more
I make a pit stop here on every visit to Montreal since the cuts of meat are amazing, & the taste is simply lovely!
It might seem a little pricy, but the sandwiche & fries are worth every penny.
The best part is that you can also buy the meat & bread to make sandwiches at home.
They have live music nights & quick, friendly service.
It's totally worth the visit.View more
I decided to finally try this Restaurant, which i have heard about for years. Unfortunately, I cannot give the restaurant a great rating. I ordered the smoked meat platter; my daughter ordered a lean sandwich. I found the meat to be a little greasy & overspiced. Simply put, not as good as Schwartz's. The fries were good. Also worth noting, there is surcharge for ordering a lean sandwich, which cost $16.80 ( pre tax). VS Snowden Delly $12.50. My platter was supposed to come with a fountain drink, but i was charged $2.75 because I got bread " on the side " with my platter. How else is bread supposed to come? So I paid $2.75 for 4 slices of bread. Honestly I felt like the whole operation was an assembly line designed to extract maximum $ from the customers. A real disappointment.
I have been going there for years, since way before he became a big deal. I understand if you need to increase your prices, the price of beef has drastically increased whithin the last few years. But your quality & quantity has dropped. The jumbo used to be a real Jumbo sandwich & was worth the price difference compared to the regular. Now it seems like all you get is a better piece of bread with the same quantity of meat as the regular. It looks like you have figured out a way to stack the meat so that the sandwich looks big when looking at the front of it.
Your fries are really not what they used to be, last 3 times I have been they have either been soggy or borderline burnt. They used to have the best fries period!! Now they do not even always use the famous Manitoba red potatoes they used to brag about in newspapers. & seriously, other places around have decent fries too, yet a large french fry to go is about 3 times the price of anywhere else at your restaurant.
I am sorry pete but it looks like you are all about the hype now, organizing biker events, concentrating on the music etc etc... The food is going downhill :(
I have never had such a disgusting fat filled smoked meat sandwich in my over 50 years of life. I picked it all out of the fat saturated rye bread & over 1/2 the content was fat. When the waitress showed the so called chef & owner all the fat picked out of the sandwich, he shrugged & walked away. Eexceptional customer service NOT!!!
I regularly brought friends & family to this Resto & the fries & meat are good when not all far. Off day I guess but the owners lousy attitude that got me. I will not go back. You'd think that with a restaurant full if 'vote for us' in the Resto Montreal contest that Pete would practice a bit more customer service rather than customer insult!
I have taken my wife & son to Petes for as long as I can remember. Not only does he have some of the best Smoked meat in Quebec, his fries are legendary. Pete is always behind the open pick up counter greeting people. (Wish he would add smoked meat to the steak platter already)
It can get loud with the live jazz & blues bands though so plan accordingly.
This is a MUST visit spot for foodies when you are in "comfort food" day.
I have eaten there twice in the last year & I have left with the same observations. I have never been to a restaurant where the fries included scraps of over fried potatoes. You have to stand in line to order your food & they accept cash only. For your convenience they have a ATM cash machine that charges you $2.00. The place is no bargain & the food sucks.
