Smoked meat sandwich, coleslaw & pickles are definitely on point. I went in expecting a good smoked meat sandwich, what I got was straight out of the steamer Montreal Smoked Meat on good rye bread. No reheating done here. Coleslaw is delicious & fresh, & their pickles are probably from a jar, but they're definitely quality, not Bicks mass-produced junk.
The only gripe I have was the smoked meat poutine. Sauce was a bit sweet for my tastes & the cheese wasn't fresh, didn't have that bounce or squeek of fresh cheese curds.
At the end of the day, it's an excellent smoked meat restaurant in a low-traffic part of the west island. Definitely worth a visit.View more

Smoked meat sandwich was good but way too much black peppers. Eating a chunck of it just kills the fun.
Also, they surcharge 4.00 if you want a lean sandwich(& it's not written anywhere) & they don't even tell you.
When I gave my order to the cash, I never said I wanted combos but yet the cashier punched my orders as such. Even if I wrote down my order.
So after 45 minutes waiting in line to order(which is normal for that place), I had to go back to the cashier to get my order right. Left a sour taste as if I was being scammed. So double check your orders.
Food is good but is it worth the hype for the price? They're better alternativesView more

Thank goodness Pete is back & we can enjoy our sandwiches & ribs again. Always enjoy a great sandwich but the four stars are for really tight to get a seat have more tables than usual but he probably did that for get more of us in again. Please take one or two tables away we had to have people enjoying their food stop eating to get to the middle part. My second is for the sandwiches being too lean. We don't ask for lean but it's what I & my friends keep getting. Maybe we need a code word. lol. Oh & for the review of the meal, check the pictures, worth two thousand words. Excellent smoked meat. On peut aussi acheter sur place la viande pour se la cuire à la maison. Le sandwich est bien rempli, & l'assiete viens avec une très bonne portion de frites. We tried the smoked meat sandwich, steak with fries, & the ribs sampler. The sandwich was packed with flavor & perfectly tender, while the steak was juicy & well-seasoned. I have been eating smoke meat since I was a kid & have become very picky over the years. Smoke Meat Pete's stands with the best of the best. We ordered a small sandwich, fries, coleslaw, & a drink. The small pieces of rye bread were filled with 1/2 a pound of warm & moist, brisket meat. The fries were home cut, not frozen, & deep fried to perfection. The coleslaw was too small a portion, I wanted more. With a large selection of beverages, I picked the Cott Black Cherry. I found it a bit expensive, $24 per person, but worth the extra cost. What an experience. If you have never been here, step up to the window, order your food, & find a place to sit. The server will call out your name & bring you your food. It takes longer to find a place to sit during peak hours, then to prepare your food. With a nice size menu, which includes steaks, ribs, poutine, & platters of a mix of meats, there is something for all. It's a great place for lunch or an afternoon snack. Enjoy!View more

So I went to eat at Schwartz deli in Montreal years ago because of the long line ups I use to see . It was fine but I didn't see the big deal cause I use to buy pastrami & make my own at home on rye bread & it tasted similar but last night I so happen to pass by cause my friend was hungry & we were in the area so I said ok I'll have a sandwich.....this place should be shut down immediately. Paid ~70$ for a slice of burnt cheesecake & 2 smoked meat sandwich combos with soggy fries that had no color on them . I get that the kitchen was getting slammed on a Sunday night but screw this place. The front of house staff were pleasant but there needs to be way better quality control with what's coming out of the kitchen.View more

Great kitschy, rock'n roll type establishment. You place your order at the window & then grab a table. The meal is brought over by a server. I had the smoked meat, which was moist delicious. Food was fantastic. Just grabbed the Pete Special or combo, so smoked meat sandwich, fries, & fountain drink. Delicious. The ordering/seating process was a bit unusual, but basically you order at the counter & find a spot, & the wait staff will bring your food to you. It was busy when we were there, so if you go with someone else, one person order while the other secures a seat. Right off the highway too, so Montreal road trips in the future will likely have a stop on the way in or out each trip!View more

Had higher hopes for the smoked meat sandwich. Heard they have won awards around North America so expected good things. The sandwich was average in my opinion as the size was small for the price ($18.99 for sandwich & fries). I compared it to my local favorite & this scored it "okay". The fries were good but their gravy is to be desired as it had a sweet taste to it. They have a stage for live music which would score a higher atmosphere score during a set I would assume. This is just one man's review, give it a try yourself as it is quite a known place.View more

I really liked this cool spot! It's super cozy & has a great vibe with yummy food. My friend recommended their smoked meat, but honestly, there's a bunch of other tasty stuff on the menu too. We tried the smoked meat sandwich with awesome fries - so good! Even though the cashier goofed up the bill a bit, it's all good. They've got a bunch of sauces to choose from to take home, which is neat. The sandwich itself was delish, with lean meat & not too much fat. There's plenty of parking & I can't wait to check out the live music next time. Definitely recommend this spot!View more
