L'endroit est constamment animé et les files peuvent être longues, mais le service reste rapide et l'ambiance old school rend la visite unique et conviviale. Certains trouvent le prix élevé ou la poutine décevante, mais l'envergure historique et la constance des saveurs font de Schwartz's un incontournable du patrimoine culinaire montréalais et une halte qui vaut le détour pour les amateurs de viande fumée.
Yikes it smelled terrible as soon as you enter food is below average worse than supermarket deli meats why would some one in this day & age come & dine here? I got swayed by the reviews but pls people stay clear of this place it is really bad
El local está algo retirado del circuito turístico y creo que está totalmente sobrevalorado. Hacer una cola de 20 minutos por un bocadillo que no está mal pero que pensaba que iba a estar increíblemente delicioso por lo que había leído previamente. El precio por dos bocadillos, dos refrescos y una poutine fueron casi 60 dólares.
Otra apreciación, solicité la contrasena del wifi y no la quisieron compartir. :-(
Honestamente, no volvería.

Food is okay. Meat was not as tender as everyone was saying. Flavour of the meat yes it was delicious, just the right amount of spices. Portion was a good amount. Try the pickels, they good. Server was busy & got our order wrong. First impression wasn't that good. Had a smoked meat sandwich somewhere else(SMP) the next day & the meat was perfectly tender there. Small dining area at Schwartzs im sure its crazy busy. Restrooms are tiny & dirty.
Smoked meat is the best. Not as salty as a pastrami & you can choose lean or fatty. They serve typical deli fare but of the highest quality. Def worth a quick trip to Montreal if you need a fix
BEST SANDWICHES!!!!! These guys have one of the best smoked meat sandwiches I've ever had, definitely worth the trip to go down to Montréal. This place is a deli, & is decorated as such, the tables & seating make the experience very intimate with other people. The sandwiches are worth the money that you spend on it, you get a thick sandwich that's heated up & fills you up.
The server who took my order did speak both English & French, which is great if you speak either language & want to travel here. I did take an Uber to this location, I can't guarantee what the parking situation is like in this area.
This deli also has a separate room that has their products on display that you can purchase to bring home with you! I did end up purchasing a slab of their smoked beef, there are instructions on the package that I can heat up later.
If you're ever in the Montreal area, this needs to be on your bucket list of places to go & eat at! Worth your time to come & check out. Worth your money, too. Highly recommend!

I've procrastinated on trying this famous, touristy restaurant for a few years now so I decided to finally cross it off this winter while the lines aren't as bad, because they get crazy in the summer when the city has more visitors & it isn't painful to be outside. I came solo to minimize my wait as much as possible & slid almost immediately into the bar which was pleasing.
Since majority of the people come here for the smoked meat, they are continuously preparing the meat so that they are served lightning fast. Service was not bad at all either. The atmosphere is old-school, feels like this place has probably looked like this for decades & deliberately to preserve the vibe. I'm not a conoisseur of smoked meat sandwiches, I'll usually order something else on other menus so I don't have a whole lot to compare this to. If this was a food I ate more often, I'd probably try to contest the mainstream claim that this is the best smoked meat sandwich in the city. But as it is honestly the best one I've eaten so far, I have to agree with the popular statement.

Schwartz's Deli is a true Montreal institution & an essential stop for anyone visiting the city. Nestled in the heart of the Plateau, the deli is surrounded by eclectic shops & fashionable boutiques, making it a vibrant part of the neighborhood. Its laid-back, communal vibe has long been a favorite for both locals & visitors, no matter the season, offering a one-of-a-kind experience every time.
The smoked meat sandwich, paired with a pickle & a black cherry soda, is an absolute must-try-it's easily one of the best in town. During our visit, we were lucky to have an excellent server, she was extremely attentive & friendly. Though the place was bustling, there's a welcoming atmosphere where you can easily share a table & strike up conversations with fellow diners.
I recently ordered the famous smoked meat sandwich from Schwartz's Deli through UberEats, & I can now understand why there's always a massive line in front of their store! As new residents of the neighborhood, we've passed by countless times & were always curious, but after finally trying it, I can say it was absolutely worth the wait! The smoked meat was tender, flavorful, & perfectly seasoned, with just the right amount of spice. The bread was fresh & held everything together beautifully. Every bite was a delicious experience. It's definitely become a new favorite, & I'll be ordering again soon! Highly recommend it to anyone nearby or visiting. You won't be disappointed!

This place holds up to its reputation. Simple, delicious, Montreal Smoked meat. We even had the pleasure of hearing a'person' shout something about animal rights as it walked by. Followed by the line up outside response of laughter.

Un incontournable à Montréal ! Nous avons opté pour leur fameuse viande tranchée traditionnelle, & elle était tout simplement exceptionnelle, tendre & pleine de saveurs. Le pain de seigle qui l'accompagne & la moutarde ajoutent la touche parfaite à chaque bouchée. Le service était rapide malgré l'affluence, & l'équipe était souriante & efficace. Une expérience authentique & délicieuse dans ce lieu emblématique. À ne pas manquer pour les amateurs de smoked meat !
As they say, a must-visit restaurant while in Montreal! If you've been to Katz's in NYC, this feels like a simpler version, but it still delivers high-quality food & a cozy atmosphere. Definitely try the Schwartz Poutine-it's a standout! We had to pay in cash as the card machine was broken, so be prepared for this potential inconvenience. Street parking is manageable, & while lines do form, there's a quick turnover of customers, so the wait isn't too long. Highly recommended for a classic Montreal food experience!
