Have to say. Been to many places ... & this place always feels like home. If you're from Montreal you should try it. If you're not, you should still try it ! Treated like royalty & been happy to have been going there for over 7 years. Amazing food & the owner is a very knowledgeable wine connoisseur. Food is always on point. My advice to someone who has never been here. If you don't order multiple entrees to share then you're missing so much of what the restaurant has to offer. They're amazing to share & have each such a great taste for your pallet. If you have a chance to ever try the osso bucco when it's there definitely worth it !!! Very friendly staff. Always polite & pleasant. Fantastic restaurant. Fantastic noodles (I mean pasta 😉) Thank you Mario for always treating us like gold when we are there. First class my friend.
A life changing restaurant. The absolute BEST pasta in the city. Hands down. Best dishes: the truffle gnocchi is to DIE for!! A classic & absolutely delicious. Handmade gnocchi with a creamy perfectly balanced dish. The tomato sauce is hand made & makes for a perfect dish with their handmade pasta. Mario truly knows his wines & always picks a good pairing!! Definitely don't skip the chocolate mousse - it is happiness in a cup 🤩 A true hidden gem in montreal - worth EVERY penny!
Excellent food, I don't think it gets any better than this. Especially once you add some hot pepper mix, if you're able to handle the heat. We loved our meals & will return here next time we're in Montreal. Excellent pasta & wine.
Went there for dinner with a group of 6 & friends from out of town. Mr Mario was very welcoming & has a great sense of humour. Rachel, our server, was fantastic. She was very attentive & just a wonderful personality. We ordered a charcuterie appetizer, very good but the zuchini flowers were delicious. The veal was great & sauce delicious. Friends were very happy with beef short rib & pasta. Wine list is excellent & reasonable prices. Atmosphere is really nice in a beautiful old building typical of old Montreal. I typically dont eat out too much in Italian restaurants but we really had a good time with great food & service.

Food & service were both great. So nice to eat at restaurant with fresh ingredients & homemade pasta. It was my first time here, but a major difference from the poser Italian restaurants plaguing the city using frozen everything.
Great food, intimate vibe, & amazing service. Took my wife there for her birthday, & we felt catered to. The owner takes pride in offering the authentic Southern Italian cuisine experience. Menu is simple but offers a variety of pastas, meats, seafood & appetizers. They make their own tomato sauce & you can tell they use the freshest ingredients. You can also buy their sauce in a jar if you like. Wine selection was top notch. Overall, Prices are also extremely fair for the Old Port. Plus, it's around the corner from key Old Port hot spots while being far enough from the chaos to catch a break. Highly recommended for anyone looking for fantastic, authentic Italian food in an intimate environment.
Great spot in Old Montreal. 6 min walk from the Quai St-Jacques & the Marina. Great food & service. "The ravioli braised beef & meatballs are to die for.", Amazing food options, from the appetizer to the dessert my favorite is the chocolat mousse, Whatever you order, you can be sure to enjoy & savor the quality of all the dishes & choices on the menu. A must go spot when you visit Montréal.

At first glance it is a quaint, small typical style old montreal restaurant. Exposed stone walls giving us the feel of once upon a time. The wine cellar is large & visible. The staff are all quite friendly & courteous. The owner is friendly, present & on top of it all. The food was tasty. I guess all that one looks for in a eatery of this caliber. So we ate well. We drank well. & we enjoyed each other's company. ( By we I mean my very good friend from out of town & I.) Unfortunately the one thing that bothered me the most was that when I booked our table I was told that, (after much hum & ha-ing by the person taking the reservation), we would have to be done & out by 8 pm . So I agreed thinking that an early dinner,( 6pm) would not be a great issue & having till 8 pm would be more than enough time to enjoy my birthday dinner . Well from 6 till 8 there were a total of 8 people in the entire restaurant. As we left there was only two other people still eating. & no one madly rushing the restaurant to come in. I don't think we needed to be told that we had a cut off time if there were barely any other souls coming. It just made us feel rushed. I understand the logistics of it all. If you create a scenario where there is hight demand then most people will possibly want nothing more than to have an IN to the popular restaurant. So there you have it. The entire evening was enjoyable & yummy. But the false pressure was not needed.
By far & wide the best Italian restaurant I have ever dined, & Mario the host is absolutely amazing, he really knows how to welcome his guests, not enough stars to really express Salumi Vino dinning experience.
