Small intimate & definitely authentic. I think this was the best pasta I have ever had. We, my daughter & I , had the Ceviche & zucchini florettes as appetizers & then the lobster pasta & I have to say that was the best pasta I've ever had in my life!!! The service was excellent. Mario, the owner attended to us himself & took his time & helped me pick the wine that I would like best. I am definitely going to return here & recommend this place to my friends & family.
Salumi Vino is a true gem. Authentic, cozy, & unforgettable. The pasta was exceptional, especially the gnocchi tartufati. The wine selection also perfectly complemented our meal.
Thank you Mario for your hospitality & passion. You've created a little piece of Italy in Montreal. We'll definitely be back!
From the moment we walked in, everything about this place was absolutely fantastic. The authentic flavors took me straight back to Italy.
Highly recommend trying the scallop ceviche, truffle pasta, & finishing off with the tiramisu & a shot of espresso perfection from start to finish.
Thank you for sharing your culture & delicious dishes with us!
We had the polpette & cavatappi al pomodoro e provola affumicata. The polpette were good, but the pasta was pretty ordinary with no sign of provola. Felt expensive for the quality of food presented. Would not go again. Ambiance & staff were nice though
Came to taste an authentic Italian Pasta & it didn't disappoint. One of the best if not the best place to try pasta in Canada. Would comeback again in montreal & visit this place. The owner is really nice & welcoming. Overall 10/10! Food was really great. 🤌🤍
Good: didn't have to walk all the way to little Italy.
Mediocre: most of the food, especially the pasta dishes
Bad: service. We were reluctantly given a table outside, then told to move, then told we can only order if all decisions were made (entrees, principle together). Maybe because their larger reserved party didn't show they slow rolled the bill
Awful: tiramisu. It was 3-4 partial ladyfingers with barely any espresso (owner, manager directly stated this), 95% whipped cream, & a paltry dusting of cocoa. Sure food preferences are highly variable but this dessert directly translates to'pick me up'. The espresso should have boldness, & there needs to be a bitter cocoa balance for the sugar. Plus where are the whipped eggs? We didn't finish it, needless to say.
Overall it felt like we were an annoyance to this crew. If you want meatballs of a forgettable nature (& why anyone would purchase this sauce for home is beyond me), pasta dishes with equal or lessor impact, & a dish that is a shameful render, by all means stop by!
Excellent experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We had a wonderful evening at this Italian restaurant. The welcome was really warm & the staff were lovely from the moment we arrived.
The atmosphere is very friendly with tasteful decor & a cozy feel. The soft lighting creates the perfect setting for dinner as a couple or with friends - you feel comfortable right away.
As for the food, we absolutely loved it! The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauces were delicious & the portions were generous.
The service was attentive, the servers are friendly & know their menu very well. They give excellent recommendations with genuine care & remain thoughtful throughout the meal.
The value for money is very fair for the quality offered. An address we warmly recommend for spending a lovely time enjoying authentic Italian cuisine.
Thank you for this wonderful evening, we'll definitely be back!
An amazing find in Old Port! The food at Salumi Vino is absolutely delicious, with pasta cooked perfectly al dente.
The arancini tasted perfect & the beef ravioli will satisfy any cravings for a stuffed pasta. The mushroom sauce for the ravioli was great but the large mushrooms in the dish became a bit too much even for a mushroom lover like myself. However, the ravioli itself may be the best I've ever had.
The gnocchi was a standout as well. The owner Mario takes great care of his customers & he's created a wonderful ambiance. Already planning to come back next time I'm in Montreal to eventually make my way through the entire menu!
Incredible place, this quaint restaurant is truly a hidden gem. Staff is friendly & Mario is wonderful & very Attentive ! All our dishes were delicious & the pasta is amazing!!! Wine is excellent. It was an absolute pleasure! Highly recommend
If you are looking for delicious authentic Italian food in Montreal, this is the place to go! The dining area is small but intimate & the service was attentive. We ordered the fried calamari & arancini for appetizers & the Cavatelli con Provola Affumicato, Ravioli con Manzo, & Gnocchi Tartufati for our entrees. The pasta was all homemade & my sister said the gnocchi was the best she's ever had (& I agree). The sauces were also fresh & full of flavor. The sauce on the raviolis is worthy of a special mention; it was almost gravy like & the mushroom wasn't overpowering. My only complaint is that I didn't save any room for dessert! I will definitely return to this hidden gem the next time I am in Montreal.
Delicious dinner, pasta was fresh, tiramisu was cool & perfect ending to the meal, & the service was top notch. A delightful evening of excellent fresh authentic food!
Wow, what a discovery! Facts: this is an Italian restaurant; it has an extensive wine list that complements much of the scratch made menu items. Notable differences from "other" Italian restaurants: the menu has a lot of off-the-beaten-path items (zucchini flowers as appetizers) as well as well-thought interpretations that transport you to Italy. The sauces are well simmered, so they develop a rich taste, enhancing the meats, fish or vegetables. We didn't have desserts, but the veal meatballs (with its Parmesan gratin & tomato sauce) & zucchini flowers as appetizers were well received, & the main courses of rapini sausage pasta (a bit oily, though), gnocchi & tuna plates were well executed. Don't forget to ask for bread to capture all the sauces that come with main dishes - it's a shame to waste it!
Delicious oso bucco & pasta! ❤️ owner is super nice. Great atmosphere.
Wonderful staff, wonderful pasta. Very choiceful recipes, everything is good. Staff went above & beyond to keep up with our two year old & keep the experience.
Ideal place to go with your partner, the pastas are incredible & the customer service is excellent. I went a month ago & i was served by a very nice waiter, a Latin boy with short black hair, I think he is Peruvian, he was very kind to me, therefore I give the restaurant 5 stars for him.
I had the pleasure of dining at Salumi Vino with a few friends, & it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The restaurant's warm & inviting ambiance made it the perfect spot for our gathering. We indulged in various pasta dishes, all of which were absolutely delicious. The highlight for me was the eggplant parmigiano & the short rib risotto-both were perfectly cooked & bursting with flavor. The staff was incredibly friendly & attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Mario, the owner, made us feel like part of the family. If you're in Montreal & craving authentic Italian food, Salumi Vino is a must-visit.
My family enjoyed an excellent meal at this classic Italian restaurant. The service was impeccable (Daniel) & owner Mario was a pleasure to talk to. The meatballs & amazing red sauce were fantastic. The Pappardelle Boscaiolo doesn't disappoint with black truffles & mushrooms. Homemade pasta makes every dish stand out with superb flavor. The wine list is impressive & makes pairing dishes very easy. Leave room for the tiramisu.
Salumi Vino offers a cozy, elegant Italian dining experience with excellent wines. Enjoy fresh, traditional dishes like homemade pasta, seafood, & meats. The Fra Diavolo is a highlight, & the tiramisu is delightful. The wine list is impressive, & the service is top-notch, making each visit memorable.
At Salumi Vino, you can find a menu full of delicious, traditional Italian dishes that have been cherished for generations. If you're a pasta lover, you should try their pasta - it's their specialty! The cheese hails all the way from Italy, making everything extra amazing. The restaurant has a decent selection of vegetarian options. Excellent service. It might not be the cheapest, but trust me, it's worth it!
Have to say. Been to many places ... & this place always feels like home. If you're from Montreal you should try it. If you're not, you should still try it ! Treated like royalty & been happy to have been going there for over 7 years. Amazing food & the owner is a very knowledgeable wine connoisseur. Food is always on point. My advice to someone who has never been here. If you don't order multiple entrees to share then you're missing so much of what the restaurant has to offer. They're amazing to share & have each such a great taste for your pallet. If you have a chance to ever try the osso bucco when it's there definitely worth it !!! Very friendly staff. Always polite & pleasant. Fantastic restaurant. Fantastic noodles (I mean pasta 😉) Thank you Mario for always treating us like gold when we are there. First class my friend.
