On our fourth visit to Salle Clim, the experience felt less like a reliable favorite & more like a restaurant quietly losing its footing. What was once our go-to spot for a consistently enjoyable meal now seems to be slipping, both in the kitchen & on the floor. The leeks remained a highlight, familiar, & as excellent as ever. The radish with whipped ricotta landed with far less conviction, coming across as bland & underdeveloped. The beef tartare, by contrast, was excellent: deeply savory, well-balanced, & easily one of the evening's strongest dishes. But the final plate, the cochon, was difficult to justify. Two slices of pork accompanied by green peas & a sauce that added little in the way of flavor made for a disappointing close, especially at more than $40. Service, too, was uneven. The gentleman serving us appeared disengaged & never once offered a smile, though the woman who later took over brought a much warmer & more welcoming presence. It is disappointing to see a restaurant we once counted on decline in this way, & after this visit, it will likely be our last.
Truly a 10/10 experience. Service was knowledgeable & attentive. Was a beautiful long dinner, & we didn't feel rushed once. Atmosphere was cozy & lively. Wine list is insane, both options we drank were delicious. We got the leeks, tartare, fluke, trout & pork. Everything was delicate & balanced, standouts for us was the tartare, trout, & sticky toffee pudding.
Definitely a place meant to be spent with a small intimate group.
Absolutely delicious - this might be the best restaurant in Montreal. I really appreciated that almost every dish (except one main) can be ordered as a half portion, which is perfect for solo diners, & even the half portions were very generous. The leek & roasted mushrooms were amazing, & the beef tartare had a very unique seasoning unlike any other I've had. They also kindly offered to replace the carrots with sweet potato for me, which was such a thoughtful touch. The server gave excellent wine recommendations too. A perfect experience.

I truly feel like I can't oversell this place. In my two visits so far, Salle has transformed my opinion of four different vegetables (for the record: leeks, chard, rutabaga & mature spinach).
Each dish I've had pairs one classic, simple aspect executed perfectly, & a surprising element.
For example, the leeks with two sunflower seed sauces, which were available both times I visited. Perfectly cooked, custardy leeks with a pair of sauces I never would have expected to be so balanced, smooth, yet distinctly flavored of sunflower seed.
Or the pork chop with chard & carrots; the pork chop itself was simple. Perfectly pan-cooked (I compared the texture to a low & slow prime rib) but accompanied by tender chard & an apple jus that was barely sweet, but so savory I was mopping up every drop with the house's lovely sourdough before letting that plate leave the table.
Other notable memories include a tartare that brought a tear to my eye, a poached pear & buckwheat cream that defied explanation, & a lovely non-alcoholic chamomile infused cranberry drink (though the wine selection is thoughtful & extensive in spite of Salle's small footprint).
The place is tiny, & the fact that I got a same-day dinner reservation still feels wrong to me. This feels like the kind of place with a waiting list, & if I had waited months instead of hours for this same meal, I would have been no less pleased.
Front & back of house staff were both friendly, happy to serve & talk with us. I left full, happy & enlightened, & I don't think you should leave Montreal without stopping by for the same treatment.
Our dinner at Salle Climatisée ranks among the most memorable meals we have had. Every course - from the leeks to blueberry dessert with tarragon (& superb dessert wine of undistilled grapes & cognac - wow!) was as inventive as it was delicious. Not one was less than superb! We loved the casual atmosphere, the attention from the owner(s) & chefs, & watching our food being prepared while we ate at the counter. We will be back every time we revisit Montreal!
Exceptional food & wine. The leeks were one of the best bites in recent memory. Service was fabulous & I will be coming back soon for sure!! Thank you!!!!
My husband & I had such an enjoyable meal here. Brendan & his team were friendly, funny, attentive, & it was clear that they care so much about the food, the wine, & the guest experience. We sat at the bar which was great fun to watch the chefs at work & enjoy the bustling activity of the restaurant.
We shared a number of stellar dishes - leeks with two sunflower dressings, steak tartare, a warm corn dish, bread & butter, halibut from Gaspésie, & sticky carrot pudding. Each dish was delicious, with the halibut being a particular standout. It's so nice that restaurants like this exist - where you can enjoy food that has been prepared with care & served with that same care & attention. We'll be back the next time we're in Montreal!
Shockingly so, was shook after my initial experience in this magickal room. How is it that a leek can taste this good? How did I get high on vegetables & a glass of sparkling wine?! Staff super stoked to serve, it's really lovely to see this level of care. I think it took three minutes just to finish that leek's preparation. We are so LUCKY to have this gem. Cannot wait to revisit this 500 star experience
This is a divine restaurant. Every dish we got was perfect (the leeks, the halibut, cheese plate, sticky pudding). We sat at the counter & watched the excellent chefs make it look easy. The wine we had was also great (glasses, white). The price is fair. The whole vibe is endearingly laid back & confident. Great time.
