Literally one of the best meals I've ever had. Every dish slapped. The wine pairings were amazing & best of all was the service. We visited from NYC & we were all blown away!!!
If I were to describe Montréal in one restaurant, it would be Salle Climatisée!!!
I've been here multiple times, & at first, I came because the food was obviously delicious, but ultimately, I kept coming back because of the amazing service (the kindest servers - shoutout to Jess!), the adorable interior, & the overall ambiance.
You can truly taste the quality of the ingredients in every dish. It's one of those places that captures what I love about Montréal - great food, great people, & such a fun atmosphere!!!
Just small enough to be intimate, just large enough to deliver a grand experience. The menu focuses on seasonality & Canadian geography making the most of available riches. To suggest dishes is impossible as they may not be on the chalkboard when you go. & go you should! The pricing is quite reasonable & portions ample. Our group of three shared three starters an entree & two desserts & we we pleasantly fueled for the night. Don't sleep on the bread service either. You'll want to swipe through every sauce.
Cute little spot, but lacking in service & only one memorable dish. We ordered the sunflower vinaigrette leeks, lobster salad, beef tartare, & trout. All of the dishes were good, but nothing that I felt I would go back for, except the leeks - totally recommend that dish! The wine options were great; a lot of natural & bio options, which made for interesting rosés & oranges. We skipped dessert since we didn't feel that the food was anything outstanding. The service was very slow & a little awkward - when I asked for explanations of the dishes, I just received a dictation of the chalkboard. My partner & I both asked to try orange wines & the waiter brought over 3 bottles, but didn't have each of us try all of them, he gave me 2 to try & my partner another 2, 1 of which was the same as mine. We each asked to try the respective ones we weren't poured & the waiter did let us, but the experience was kind of odd. Nice moody atmosphere though!
On our fourth visit to Salle Clim, the experience felt less like a reliable favorite & more like a restaurant quietly losing its footing. What was once our go-to spot for a consistently enjoyable meal now seems to be slipping, both in the kitchen & on the floor. The leeks remained a highlight, familiar, & as excellent as ever. The radish with whipped ricotta landed with far less conviction, coming across as bland & underdeveloped. The beef tartare, by contrast, was excellent: deeply savory, well-balanced, & easily one of the evening's strongest dishes. But the final plate, the cochon, was difficult to justify. Two slices of pork accompanied by green peas & a sauce that added little in the way of flavor made for a disappointing close, especially at more than $40. Service, too, was uneven. The gentleman serving us appeared disengaged & never once offered a smile, though the woman who later took over brought a much warmer & more welcoming presence. It is disappointing to see a restaurant we once counted on decline in this way, & after this visit, it will likely be our last.
