Had a girl's night at Saiko sushi on a Wednesday night.
Each of us have a sushi - chef choice $38 sorry I forgot the name. But it was the fresh catch of the day. With rice under & surrounding by fresh avocados. It was really good! Super fresh, I feel the sashimi I can have a lot of them 😁
& we have added a beef yaki. The beef was not tender enough. however the teriyaki sauce is amazing!
5/5 for service. I have asked for gluten free soy sauce. The server did one step ahead by confirming if it is in allergy & made sure all my food are gluten free, & especially got me the teriyaki sauce gluten free as well
Missing one point is only because the beef was not tender.
Btw if you like Riesling , they have amazing Riesling $13/ glass. I like it sweet, & this one served in the restaurant exactly good sweetness

This was probably my best sushi experience, ever. It was so good the first time, I came in again the next night with my wife. The staff here are just awesome, Shing-Ichi especially. They've been making sushi for decades & their dedication is evident in the experience. My suggestion is to go to the bar, & order the Chef's Choice, where they will provide a selection of Nigiri that will knock your socks off.
We went to Saiko Bistrot on a tuesday night for my boyfriend's 25th birthday. He ordered the nigiri omakase & I ordered the complete omakase, which includes the 10 nigiri, 2 entrées, a soup & a piece of cake, & we shared everything. Warning : the prices that are displayed on the restaurant webpage are from 2020 & are not up to date. We payed 80$ for the nigiri omakase & 150$ for the complete one, which is twice the price from 2020. Apart from the surprise of the price, the food was really worth it. Every ingredient is sooo tasteful & selected with care by the chef. We sat by the bar, & the chef prepared each piece in front of us, asking us what we preferred & adapting depending on our answers. I'm not usually too much into japanese food, but this was incredible. Our entrées were 8 pieces of sashimi (salmon, tuna & scallop), followed by 3 pieces of grilled scallops with crab, that had such a nice crisp to them. The soup was served with 4 makis & it was delicious. Then, the 10 nigiri were delicious : we had salmon, yellow tail tuna, shrimp, wagyu beef, eel... & finally, for the dessert, we chose a yuzu cheesecake that was very good, even if the slice was thin. Worth noting that the restaurant closes at 9, & the omakase takes quite some time : we got there at 7, & finished eating at 9:15, rushing a little through the end. To sum up, it is quite expensive, but I've never been so happy to spend this amount of money on a restaurant, it is very worth it.
First time in Montreal & a local brought me here. The best sushi I have eaten with sincere & amazing chefs. An experience I will never forget & want to return. I ordered the chef special & each piece melted in my mouth.
