Ruby's Café Mtl is portrayed in many reviews as a welcoming, dog friendly spot where pets can dine inside, often with a dedicated dog menu, bowls, and even a small fenced area or dog park outside and sometimes a dog pool, which makes it a favorite for brunch with dogs. The atmosphere is repeatedly described as warm, cozy, and lively, with people appreciating the ambiance and the focus on pets as part of the experience. Food receives mixed notes: many praise the quality and variety for humans and pups, from french toast sticks and grilled cheese to meatballs for dogs, while some meals are described as pricey for the value or not as impressive, and a few visits report underwhelming portions or service missteps. Service is noted as both highly attentive and slow or disorganized on busy days, with stories of forgetfulness and late drinks tempered by reports of friendly staff who go the extra mile during tougher moments. The overall sentiment leans positive, especially for dog lovers seeking a place to eat with their four legged friends, with advice to book ahead, be patient at peak times, and enjoy the kid friendly and pet friendly vibe that Ruby's Café Mtl provides.
If you are looking for an experience with attentive staff, good food & a beautiful historical building , this is where you want to be. I'm a recurring patron & the dogs love the atmosphere & their special menu, they recommend the meatballs.

We had an amazing brunch at Ruby's café. The food was delicious & good portion. We really enjoy the ambiance, chill & clean. Our dog was really welcome to the café where she got to meet new fur friends as well, so it was perfect for her social enrichment! It can get crowded so my recommendation would be to book a table in advance. Service can be slow when crowded, just be patient, the staff is super kind!
We went many times since it's almost the only restaurant for dogs, but the last visit wow us with the Valentine theme: the staffs were all in pink shirt, we got strawberries deeped in chocolate, our dogs got free cupcake & the staffs were so nice to help us with group photo's. We had an amazing time as well as our dogs. Been there many times, the food are good but we just wish they change their menu to make a change. Overall, very satisfied 😊

I love bringing my dog to Ruby Café. The service is always nice - though a little on the slow side. They bring water bowls for the dogs & have the cutest menu for our furbabies, including cupcakes, meatballs, etc. The food for us humans is average (I've been at least 5 times & tried different dishes) but I don't go for myself, I go for my pup! Their cappucinos are good & the french toast sticks are worth trying.

Basically I'd say the only thing this place has going for itself is the fact that it's dog-friendly.
When I came in & sat with my friend, we talked for about 20 minutes before someone finally came to take our orders. We mentioned that we had not been provided with menus, to which we were told that we had to use the QR code. Fine, but that would have been good to know when we first came in rather than 20 mins later.
So I'm finally looking at the menu & realize how very few options they had. Most of them consisted of some sort of grilled cheese. There were very few protein options.
My friend & I were given a single glass & a bottle of water. We mentioned we needed another glass as we were two people. It did not come.
Finally I ordered the French toast sticks, & again I asked for another glass.
The sticks were nice but it said they came with powdered sugar, & they in fact did not. Still, I had no cup to drink from. I asked a different waitress for it, & I finally got one.
My friend had also ordered a cupcake for her dog to come with our food. Another thing that never came. We asked two different waitresses for it. Still nothing. They were busy playing with the dogs. My friend eventually just had to get up & get the cupcake at the counter. At least the dog seemed to enjoy it, so there was that.
I would not go there again. It is severely overpriced, offers very limited options, & the service is one of the worst I've ever experienced.
Great place to have brunch with your pooch.. it's not just pet friendly; it's pet-forward, pet-encouraging! All the servers were also extremely welcoming & friendly.

Great ambiance, location & place to take your dog. We take our Rupert here for brunches & celebrations & it is nice to find a place that is cutely decorated, good food, dog friendly & easy to park.
The service was wonderful, the waitresses were very very nice & welcoming. All the food we ordered was fantastic, but the sweet potato fries with the jalapeno sour cream really'wowed' me! The smoothies were very good too. My dog Angus had a pupcake & some meat balls & he was ecstatic. The atmosphere was super fun, the other doggies were pleasantly friendly & my own pup got lots of love from the other people who were dining there. Amazing spot to bring the whole family. 10/10 for sure! :)
