About

Rubis Rouge - Red Ruby Rouge serves a specialized menu centered on traditional Szechuan cooking techniques. Diners encounter a selection of bold, piquant preparations that highlight the iconic numbing spice of peppercorns alongside fresh aromatics. The culinary approach focuses on the authentic interplay of heat and texture inherent to Southwestern Chinese regional styles. Menu offerings include various stir-fried meats, vegetable-forward plates, and complex savory broths seasoned with house-made chili oils. The interior provides a functional, straightforward space designed for focused consumption of these vibrant, heat-forward dishes. This establishment maintains a commitment to consistent flavor profiles by prioritizing classic seasoning methods over modern fusion interpretations. Each dish reflects the foundational principles of Szechuan gastronomy through deliberate spice application and structural balance.

Review Summary

Rubis Rouge - Red Ruby Rouge is a spacious, bustling venue in Montreal known for its traditional Cantonese-style dim sum served via roving carts, making it a popular choice for large groups and communal gatherings. While many diners appreciate the authentic, generous portions and consistent value, experiences regarding food quality and service efficiency vary significantly among patrons. Some guests enjoy the classic atmosphere and find the staff helpful, whereas others report inconsistent seasoning, occasional language barriers, and issues with service speed or professionalism. Although it remains a go-to spot for many regulars, potential visitors should be aware of mixed feedback concerning billing transparency and the varying levels of attentiveness from the staff.

Great dimsum. Been going there for over 20 yrs. The quality is consistent.

Authentic, Generous, & Unforgettable

Had dinner at Ruby Rouge Restaurant yesterday & was genuinely impressed. The food is absolutely delicious - rich in flavor, beautifully presented, & unmistakably authentic Chinese cuisine. Every dish felt like it was crafted with care & tradition.

Service was warm, attentive, & efficient throughout the evening. What really stood out was the pricing: more than affordable considering the generous portions & high quality. You truly get incredible value here.

I'll definitely be going back - & I highly recommend Ruby Rouge to anyone looking for a satisfying, authentic dining experience in Montreal.

This review is for their ddash/ueats products.

This has to be the best value Chinese one can get on that platform. Dim sum on demand & other Chinese meals provided in a more generous quantity than most competitors.

The only downside is that taste & quality may feel a little cheaper, but if you're really hungry, it hits the spot.

One of the best spots in Chinatown for affordable & delicious food! Their char siu with rice is always fresh & flavorful. Back in the day, it used to be just $4.50-$5 a plate, & even though it's now $7, it's still absolutely worth it. I've been coming here since my childhood, & the quality has never changed. If you're looking for a great, budget-friendly meal in Chinatown, this is the place to go

Come to this place is all about food. I order BBQ pork Bento box for take out. It is only cost 7$. Seriously, I am wondering how they can make profit. The portion is huge ( especially the rice). I won't be too picky on the quality of the char Siu for this price. It is certainly decent. & it is better than any McDo. But ya, the ambient is very old & the service is soso

We were craving dim sum while in Montreal. This restaurant located on the 2nd floor inside a small mall. We were seated quickly & was asked what tea we wanted. Was nice to see push cart ordering here. We ordered five dishes to try. Overall the quality of the dim sum was average. We went on a Friday & it was not too busy so it could explain why some of the dim sum wasn't as fresh. The fried squid was cold & a bit rubbery. The har gow was decent.

Variety of options from steamed to fried cooked. Dim sum & many other options to order from. Priced below par, but quality kept up.🤩
