Review Summary

Rubis Rouge - Red Ruby Rouge serves classic dim sum with cart service and a range of authentic Cantonese dishes that many reviewers find fresh and flavorful, with generous portions and good value for the price, and the atmosphere is described as spacious and family friendly. However experiences vary, with some diners reporting slow or inconsistent service, dishes that are tasteless or not well seasoned, and occasional menu or order issues. Several reviews highlight strong points like friendly or warm service on good nights and a lively, authentic feel, while others caution that the quality and service are not guaranteed every visit. Overall, Rubis Rouge - Red Ruby Rouge is seen as a popular Montreal option for dim sum, offering solid flavors and value for many, but not without notable inconsistencies.

Edit: today on april 6 the woman at the cash left a bad impression on me. We paid with cash & she ran into the dinning room after my dad & demanded more tips. I thought that was so rude & so unnecessary. Like did you want an extra $2 I don't get it. First of all, we did tip enough & second of all, tips are optional. It's based on your service. So no thanks we won't be dinning in anymore. That woman scared us away with her mannerism.

First review:
I have real high standards for Chinese food & this is my fav place here!! I've ordered Uber eats from here many times & have dinned in for dinner once. It's been exceptional every time! Staff are also super friendly.

One typical old style Chinese restaurant. Service was meh... Ok-ish, food was... eatable, won't call delicious. If it wasn't my parents wanted to eat dim sum, there could be loads of other choices in walking distance.

Authentic, Generous, & Unforgettable

Had dinner at Ruby Rouge Restaurant yesterday & was genuinely impressed. The food is absolutely delicious - rich in flavor, beautifully presented, & unmistakably authentic Chinese cuisine. Every dish felt like it was crafted with care & tradition.

Service was warm, attentive, & efficient throughout the evening. What really stood out was the pricing: more than affordable considering the generous portions & high quality. You truly get incredible value here.

I'll definitely be going back - & I highly recommend Ruby Rouge to anyone looking for a satisfying, authentic dining experience in Montreal.

Typical Chinese Dim Sum.
Not my first not my last visit.

Chinese friends helped us with our order. Ate at 1pm on a Monday. Limited but adequate choices on the trollies.

Overall satisfied with under $20 with tax & tip.

Poor to mediocre service, food is poor to mediocre at best as well. Service is mediocre at best. This restaurant is still in business only because there is a lack of decent Chinese restaurants in the metropolitan area of Montreal. Not sure if I would recommend it to friends & family to be honest, but the place is considered somewhat accessible as it's in downtown, affordable as in it's not the most expensive restaurant & the servers are nicer to you if you are a regular.. Their morning dim sum (drink tea) specials before 11:00 is usually a pretty good deal.

Their plate of noodles seem to be a bit bigger now than before.

This review is for their ddash/ueats products.

This has to be the best value Chinese one can get on that platform. Dim sum on demand & other Chinese meals provided in a more generous quantity than most competitors.

The only downside is that taste & quality may feel a little cheaper, but if you're really hungry, it hits the spot.

I went to the Ruby Rouge for dim sum today around noon & we were three. The resto was about 75% full & we were seated quickly upon arrival. The resto didn't look modern but was still nice with its nostalgic warm old school Chinese decor. Our waitress was quick & friendly. The food was fresh, hot & good. However, even though the restaurant wasn't full there were no more food carts passing by us anymore after only two passed by. We waited about 20 minutes without food & decided to leave after looking everywhere & saw there was no one pushing any dim sum carts in the whole very big restaurant. We weren't the only ones waiting for food. They looked understaffed with their waiters & waitresses running around & no one pushing the dim sum carts at some point, I've never seen that before anywhere. I wouldn't go back there if I were starving but would go back with friends to catch up & take our time to eat & chat because the food & service were good & it's a nice place but the waiting was also very long to the point we left still hungry.

A well-known Chinese restaurant in Montréal Chinatown with good food, a stage, & dance floor. Excellent for birthday, anniversary & other celebrations!

Went on a Sunday, usually the most busy day for dim sum. Waited 20 for pot of tea, food carts were very few & far between (I had to get up to look for food with the bill), & when I did finish a dish they were accumulating on my table cause there was no one to take them away. I even had to go get my own hot water to refill my tea pot. Also, if you don't believe in shrinkflation, it's hell of a real thing. All & I mean ALL the food is smaller, but prices are higher. & now they charge .50 for a takeaway box. If you're gonna go that far too Chinatown for Chinese food from the suburbs, might as well drive to the west island & go to imperial right off the 40. Red ruby has changed & not for the better.
