Had a wonderful time today at Roselyn. The service was so amazing & everyone very friendly.
The High Tea experience is totally recommended.
Food delicious - Service attentive- atmosphere beautiful
Best by far High Tea experience in Montreal
Good location & run by an amazing team. Different menus available.
Afternoon Tea (Saturday), Seafood & Jazz (Friday), & Brunch Buffet (Sunday) is available.
Very Bad Afternoon Tea Experience - Don't waste your money there; go to the Ritz instead
Every year, on December 24, my family & I celebrate the holidays with an Afternoon Tea.
This year, I decided to try the Afternoon Tea at Roselys to change from our usual afternoon tea at Ritz when in Montreal (the quality of the service there is impeccable).
Hostess - Right away, upon our arrival we were (un)welcomed with a hostess that was sour faced. No smiling, no communication, the minimum.
Waiter - our waiter, who I believe is someone called'Garceau Arsena' (based on the receipt) - barely welcomed us; (I) he never offered drinks - I would not have minded getting some champagne for the occasion, (ii) he never explained the menu (he did give us the Tea Box to choose our teas), (iii) when we asked about the kids' afternoon tea menu as it is mentioned on their website (see the attached photo that mentions such menu) - he rudely brushed us off & told us they did not do kids menus; (iv) when we received our food, nobody explained what was being offered, (v) he never once checked with us whether the food was satisfactory or whether we wished for a hot water refill. The exchanges were kept at the bare minimum - here's the menu, here's the bill.
This is very surprising, Roselys is part of a 5 star hotel, Fairmount's Queen Elizabeth, & I believe it is not unreasonable to expect great service from such establishments.
Anyways, just don't waste your money there. There are other places in Montreal you can get better service.
We chose Rosélys to celebrate our son's 7th birthday with a special afternoon tea. It was close to our hotel & the website mentions a kids menu, which made it seem like a good fit.
The hostess was warm & welcoming & seated us in a comfortable booth. That was the highlight of the experience & the reason for the two stars.
Unfortunately, everything after that fell short. Our server took quite a while to come over with the tea sample, & by the time he did, we had already read the full menu & were ready to order. When we asked about the kids afternoon tea, his response was dismissive. He told us there was no kids option, just a smaller version of the adult one. (even if this was mentioned in their website)
When I asked for a tea recommendation for my son, the answer was simply,'Whatever you want, Madame.'
The service felt rushed & indifferent, which was disappointing, especially given that this was meant to be a birthday celebration. The tea arrived first, & the rest of the food came much later. Overall, the experience felt underwhelming & poorly paced.
We also noted in our reservation that it was our son's birthday, but there was no acknowledgment at all. We weren't expecting anything extravagant, just a bit of care or recognition.
This was meant to be a special moment for our family, & sadly, it didn't feel special at all.
Went for tea & had high expectations for a nice ladies' afternoon. The service was very slow. Our waiter was wearing his green union t-shirt & an apron - not the look you would expect. The water for the tea was not hot. The room on the 2nd floor where we were seated looked'tired'. The highlight was the food which was quite tasty but at a $200 price tag for 3 people (no alcohol, just tea) it was very disappointing. If you are looking for a high tea experience, I would recommend trying somewhere else.
Tea time was wonderful! Delicious teas & just the right amount of finger foods. Savory & sweet. The service staff was kind & very accommodating.
We had a amazing assortment of lovely teas & finger foods, great service from Bernard
Went for the tea experience to celebrate a birthday. In addition to the tea pastries, the waitress surprised us with a happy birthday platter with additional sweets. We were so excited with the gesture until it was an additional charge in the bill. It was a disappointment to be charged for something we didn't order.
We visited for the afternoon tea. The tea was really good. A very present flavour green tea. I do recommend. Food-wise, it was far from acceptable experience. The salty options, two were really good. The fois gras & the smoked salmon. Others were inexpressible. The banana cake seemed like artificial, we can have better options from Starbucks. The sweaty options, again two were ok-good. Nothing outstanding. The chocolate pistachio & a small peach-ish option. Location is fantastic, the center of downtown. However, the inside felt extremely empty as a tea room. It seemed like a small conference support room. Considering price, experience & quality, I do not recommend the afternoon tea. It's too expensive for what is proposed.
It was my first time trying afternoon tea & I loved the experience. I wish it was a little more balanced as there were more sweet elements compared to savory ones but everything was delicious. I recommend starting with the second tier, than the bottom one & finish with the top one to get a break from all the sweetness. The service was great. I definetly recommend it!
Went for afternoon tea on a saturday & I thought the food was delicious & surprisingly filling. My favorite was the warm scones! Though, the waiters/servers kept dropping dishes & breaking glasses around us... We heard it at least 4 to 5 times in our time there which is outrageous imo for a place like this!
Just awesome!!!!!!!! Service was great, food was incredible. Tea excellent! It was an afternoon barbie tea experience. Fantastic. However be ready for the price... this is a very expensive place...but he...very nice experience...
I went to Rosélys for high tea & I have to admit my expectations were very high. Sadly it didn't meet my expectations. The savory pieces were delicious but all the desserts were too sweet, probably because of the overuse of white chocolate. The tea was delicious but the waitress was not very knowledgeable of her teas. She also brought the receipt before we were even finished. I expected more for such a high-end establishment.
My wife & I went to brunch on October 1st to celebrate our 19th wedding anniverary. We always enjoy our visits as we were married in the hotel in October 2004. Though it has received a huge makeover since then, including the name (formely Le Montréalais) the location generally lives up to the standards we have been used to for many years. This was the first time we were able to celebrate since the pandemic, so we were pleased we finally could.
There were just a few small issues that I would like to bring up. The lamb roast was very tasty, however, I found that using tongs to tear the flesh off the roast to be a bit strange, also wasn't very generous with the portioning. The roast beef loin was tasty but was very tough to eat, I admit it was very rare, but perhaps offer steak knives as an option. The waitress we had wasn't super attentive, we needed to request coffee twice before she brought some over. We neede to request tea twice before she brought some over. We needed to request grapefruit juice twice before she brought some over. The last point is that at the table we were seated at had a splash of something on the windows, not sure what it was but it looks like it had been there at least a few days, looked like it could have been egg yolks. Despite these few things we will continue to celebrate our anniversary here in the future. I bring up these points as a reminder not to let the level of service or quality slip to honour the legacy of the late Daniel Fornara a consumate professional to whom service & quality were a point of pride.
Don't bother with this place & go to the Ritz. Poor customer service, no one knows what they are talking about. I made a reservation for high tea & ended up speaking to 4 different people who all told me very different & contradicting things.
First, I call to reserve, they take down all my info & tell me the HIGH TEA will be 99$ per person (even after specifying that we wanted the REGULAR tea not the barbie one) & that it will be all in one bill because we are a big group. I'm told that the reservation is made & I should receive confirmation in 2 days. 2 days pass & I have no confirmation so I call. The second person tells me that my reservation was never made & does it all over again, & that it will be 99$ per person & that I have to pay EVERYTHING IN ADVANCE, I say but we are 10 people, are you saying I will have to pay 1000$ before the actual day? I am told YES & that someone will contact me for the payment details. When that person contacts me, they tell me it's actually 54$ per person & that I have to put down a % deposit (so not the full amount) that will be taken off the final bill. I pay the deposit & it is charged on my card. The day comes & the server (who was very unpleasant from the start) tells us that we can pay separate bills. I ask then what happens to the deposit I made (how/when am I getting it back?), & the server tells me (rudely) that I was never charged anything because that's not how it works & that it was only going to be charged to me if we did not show up. Which is not true because I still see that charge on my account. I had to call the hotel (because the restaurant was not picking up after many calls) & they told me it takes 7 days to get it back. On top of that, many food items from the high tea were missing when they first brought us our order.
We went for Barbie high tea. It was very pink. Loved the tea, very good food. Place is very busy... & the service was very slow. I don't think I would do it again.... 75$ for high tea before tax & tip is really just crazy. Maybe 50$ would be okay. It wasn't that luxurious.
