About

Restaurant de l'ITHQ emphasizes a rigorous approach to regional market cuisine by sourcing seasonal ingredients directly from local producers. The menu focuses on transforming raw products into refined plates that highlight the natural qualities of the terroir. Every selection reflects technical precision, utilizing traditional methodologies to elevate standard provincial staples into cohesive culinary statements. The atmosphere provides a clear view into the pedagogical environment where precision and industry standards remain the primary priorities. Guests engage with an evolving selection of dishes that shift according to availability and harvest cycles. This establishment functions as a laboratory of professional practice, ensuring that every plate adheres to established standards of preparation and aesthetic presentation. The result is a persistent commitment to quality that bridges the gap between agricultural supply and technical execution.

The Restaurant de l'ITHQ is widely regarded as a premier dining destination in Montreal, frequently praised for its high-quality cuisine, creative use of local ingredients, and elegant, refined atmosphere. Many diners value the opportunity to support the next generation of culinary professionals, often highlighting the exceptional, attentive, and professional service provided by the students and staff. While the majority of visitors describe their experiences as memorable and sophisticated, representing excellent value for the level of gastronomy provided, a subset of guests has noted occasional inconsistencies regarding portion sizes, pacing, and service speed. The atmosphere may have been sparse because of the heavy rain but the restaurant was pretty empty. The service was excellent, attentive & friendly with explanations from the young staff. The food was good & you have to bear in mind that for this type of dining the good price was good. We found the offering a bit « bread heavy ». Sourdough with the first delicate taster & bread on the starter as well as croutons on the main but this might be a Canadian thing. Very glad we went.

Very nice atmosphere, service, & well thought out menu. This is an elegant & relaxing place to dine. Very nice to have an amuse bouche before dinner. The service was attentive, the plates beautifully presented, the service was also professional & discreet. The music selection was sedate & appreciated. The music did not overwhelm the atmosphere nor muffle conversation. Appreciated table linen & comfortable chairs. A nice place to celebrate life milestones.

Très belle découverte en plein dans le Quartier Latin ! Ambiance feutrée, nappe blanche & beau petit menu à l'heure du midi.

The cocktail tasted like cranberry juice.
Wine & cheese were amazing.
Appetizers (mushroom cavatelli & tomatoes) were fantastic as well as the tomato gazpacho with shrimp & bread.

The entrees were severely disappointing! Halibut was nice quality but the dish in general was nothing I would brag about. The guinea fowl was not desirable & we left half of the dish.
Dessert was forgettable.
Such a shame to spend $ for disappointment.

All presentations were excellent.

Service was absolutely perfect.

Overall meh, way overrated.

Food average - scallops cooked right, great temperature, golden crust colour but not the taste not crispy crust with the sear; turbot side cauliflower reduction & cauliflower couscous?!

Service below par, zero explanation on the dishes when they were bought to table (almost no service except when 1st seated, felt like fast food after tbh. I've been tipping 20%+ in my 3 days in montreal even at schwartz, but here, tho i did 15% but 10% should have been it with the service they have provided);

Menu/bill with wrong price (tho corrected at the end, but sorry, this mistake at this level of restaurant is unacceptable)

To give you an example on food,'cauliflower couscous' with turbot with cauliflower garlic mousse, taste good separately, but should be 2 diff components on a dish at this level of restaurant. This simply shows you the executive chef or whoever designing the menu is not qualified to be at this level of restaurant especially this is part of the hospitality school 🤷🏻?♀?. Also that they don't expect the Cauliflower is good so had to add the reduction of the same on the side to enhance the flavour further? Lol

Portions are small, I moved on to another Michelin selected restaurant to eat more to be full.

All full timers the day I visited. Best of luck to students learning anything from this crew.
