A solid dim sum that had everything I was looking for, served fresh & plentiful for a reasonable price. Ordered 11 dim sum items plus an entrée to share & Spent about 70 each. As a frugal diner I walked out with absolutely no buyers remorse, fat & happy. Our waiter was attentive, considerate, & helpful & we were encouraged to stay as long as we liked with complimentary green tea from start to finish & orange slices for dessert that were the perfect touch & really made us feel looked after. The most comforting dining experience I have had in a really long time.
Caveats: we went on a Monday pretty much right when the doors opened for dinner. We were 2 ordering enough food for 4 & relied heavily on the server recommendations. We were one of only a few tables in the restaurant.
Me & my sister were the first people in for dinner service yesterday evening & the food & service was incredible. Everything we ordered was piping hot, perfectly prepared, & the portions were generous for the price. We loved the selection of harder-to-find dim sum plates, like the tripe with scallion, the saucy chicken feet, the sticky rice in lotus leaf, & the spicy beef tendon. After our meal, our waiter brought us a little plate with cut up oranges on it &, i'll be damned, it was the best orange i think I've ever tasted. We got our leftovers packed up & they kindly let us sit & enjoy some tea for quite some time, it felt like being guests in someone's home. 10/10 we will DEFINITELY be back.
The vegetarian dishes were good, lots of options (some with mock meat) & price was reasonable. We went in the late afternoon & ordered both from the dinner menu & dim sum menu, but the dim sum was not fresh. I find the restaurant's hygiene concerning. Several tea cups were not cleaned properly with lipstick, there were flies flying around.
Great restaurant for dim sum. Get ready for a wait, but once inside take a load off. Would recommend ordering some Chrysantheum tea & get your stamp card to order some goodies off their carts!
The dim sum menu did not have prices. Is that normal? Some of the dishes were aggressively salty. That combined with a lack of water (& one tiny teapot for a table of 7 that was never refilled) left us feeling very parched. We asked for a refill on the tea but never received it. The service was friendly otherwise. Still, the dishes tasted good other than the saltiness. Portions were good as well.
Daily dim sum during the week is less good than on weekends. I did notice what felt like purposeful over charging which has been mentioned by othered (maybe the tea is 7-8$?). Many dishes here are very good. I'll continue to come but will check bill as they mark it, & I will really try to go on weekends only for dim sum. I may also order from main menu during week days.
Food was good. Not the best ever but it was tasty, & there was a lot of choice. The concept was nice too.
But... The service was just awful. Besides the fact that it is over crowded & that the waiters are yelling at each others, which could have a charm on its own, the staff is just rude. Simply rude. They won't take the time to explain to you neither how it works, how it costs, or what the plates are. At the end, it proved to be rather expensive for not that much. We asked for water (we also had tea, of course), we received it at the end of the meal, after asking several times. Considering the service, we decided to give 10% instead of 15% of tip. The waitress proved to deserve 0%, she insulted us in front of everybody saying that we HAD to give her more, that we were cheap, calling on god & even talking about stuff we talked amongst ourselves during the dinner (why was she listening to us instead of working?!?!) & like talking really really loud & very aggressively.. She made us feel really bad & humiliated when she should be ashamed of the service she gave us. Btw I worked in restaurants as a waitress, I would have NEVER done what that waitress did & I do tip well normally because I know how important this is. Matter of fact, even when I get really, really bad service, I still give 10%. It was amongst my worst service experiences before the tip incident, & definitely became the worst service I ever received in a restaurant after. I will never go back there, there are plenty of better Chinese restaurants that will offer you a decent service as well.
