We arrive at 9:15pm knowing that it closes at 10pm. They greet us by saying « we close at 10, be quick ». They set us up at the table, litteraly throw the menus on the table & say « order now, we close in 45 minutes ». Mind you, there are 2 different menus with a total of 25 pages with half of the items not having a price tag. 2 minutes later, the waiter comes & ask us to order now. We didn't have time to look at the whole menu so we ask him to recommend us his favorites, he simply says « you order, not me », so i rapidly scroll the menu & point certain items that look nice. They bring all the food within 15 minutes & the bill as well saying that they need us to pay now. Due to the rudeness & quality of service, we leave an 8% tip. The waiter waits for the bill to print & starts shouting at us in an unknown language & then demands that we give him more money. We refuse & he continues shouting at us. I then calmly tell him that we will not give him more money so if he can leave us alone so we can eat & then leave. He then goes to other tables & starts trash talking us to other customers while pointing us with his finger. He proceeds to come 2 more times to scream & ask for more money to which i replied the last time that i do not care about whatever he's saying & to leave us alone. He then proceeded to talking with people about us for the rest of the evening in front of us. We can safely say that this is the last time we will leave this restaurant as we will never come back.
Unimpressed with the supper we had here. Spent 80$ for supper for 2. The quality of dishes were mediocre at best… quality went downhill since the last time I came….
Authentic dim sum restaurant. Decent prices for the food quality. Bring cash! ;)
We had a great experience here; getting to taste high quality Chinese cuisine with a local person. We literally didn't know what our friend was ordering, but we trusted he knew what he was ordering & what's best to eat at this place. & in all fairness, everything he ordered was fresh, of high quality & tasty.
This is a perfect choice for authentic Chinese food. They never disappoint you. The quality & the freshness of the dishes is amazing. Fully recommend it
Overall a decent experience. The food is of medium quality but very poor service. Had to get up & get hot sauce & soya sauce off other tables since no waiters ever came to our table.
Mixed Experience at Kim Fung Restaurant in Montreal
I recently dined at Kim Fung Restaurant in Montreal & wanted to share my honest feedback about my experience. While there were some positive aspects, there were also a few disappointments that affected my overall impression.
Firstly, I must mention that the service at Kim Fung was not up to par. The waiter seemed a bit inattentive & it was challenging to get their attention when needed. This lack of attentiveness detracted from the overall dining experience & left me feeling somewhat neglected.
Additionally, when the bill arrived, I noticed that the waiter wanted a 15% service charge after taxes. It is worth noting that the standard practice is typically to calculate the service charge based on the pre-tax amount. This discrepancy left me a bit confused & made me question the transparency of their billing practices.
While I understand that every establishment has its off days, it is important for restaurants to prioritize consistent & attentive service. I hope that Kim Fung takes this feedback constructively & works towards improving their service quality & billing practices.
Overall, my experience at Kim Fung Restaurant was mixed. While the food was enjoyable, the service & billing issue left me with a slightly negative impression. I encourage the management to address these concerns to ensure a more satisfying experience for future customers.
