Review Summary

Reviews of Paul Toussaint / Agrikol highlight generous portions and bold flavors. Griot is described as juicy with little fat, plantain is fresh, pikliz bright, and accra a welcome side. A common note is the absence of sauce with the platter, which some reviewers miss. The oxtail is praised for depth of flavor and is easy to share. Some diners describe portions as tiny for certain dishes and question value for money. L'Haitien and soupe joumou receive strong praise for authenticity and exceptional taste. The setting is a busy food court with fast service, and service quality is mixed, sometimes unfriendly. Overall, many feel the dishes are worth trying, with well balanced spice and variety, though portions and the lack of sauce can be drawbacks.

Excellent portion size. Nice & juicy pieces of griot which don't have any fat attached. Very fresh plantain & pikliz. Side of accra is a great addition.

Only drawback compared to a typical casse-croûte is that they don't serve sauce with the platter.

Great quality for the price!

J'ai commandé un griot de porc dans ce restaurant : l'assette était fade & le porc sec. Je ne recommande pas ce restaurant !

Aussi, le service client laisse à désirer.

I already adore Haitian food, so I had high hopes for this place & thankfully, I wasn't disappointed. The griot was so flavourful & the rice was delicious.

Chef Paul Toussaint is definitely a must go if you're in downtown Montreal.

The food court itself has a fantastic vibe-an open kitchen concept with great energy & tasteful decor that creates a welcoming atmosphere. I was thrilled to see a Haitian spot among the options & couldn't wait to try it out. I ordered the "L'Haitienne" plate, & overall, it did not disappoint. The griot was excellent-tender, fresh, & packed with authentic Haitian flavor. The pikliz added the perfect tangy kick, & the plate also included accras & plantains, both of which were well-prepared & delicious. The rice was decent, though not a standout, & the plate didn't initially come with sauce. However, when we requested some, the staff kindly provided it at no extra cost, & it turned out to be absolutely delicious, tying all the flavors together. The service was just okay-not bad, but nothing remarkable. Still, the food & the vibrant setting made up for it. If you're in the mood for authentic Haitian food, this spot is worth checking out!

Griot was ok but so expensive for the amount you get. Most griot spots will give you a mountain of food for $15 & for $19 I’d expect a lot more..

Got the griot - the meat had a great texture to it. That's about all the positives that I can say about the plate. The rice was absurdly salty - it just wasn't enjoyable.

Good haitian food in Montreal exists, but this certainly isn't it.
