3.0

A lot of things have decreased in quality or are catering to french canadian people who don't know any better. & certain egregious choices, such as putting artificial costco style frosting inside a 6.50 nutella zeppole, or custard from a mix. I understand wanting to innovate a traditional recipe but you still have to use real pastry cream, real ricotta…

For 40 years, I have continuously rationed every box of delicious pastries I've brought home. The quality has never changed.

Sadly the quality declined significantly. People have been enamoured with the idea of going to this bakery, however, it's become some cheap imitation. Why is it so expensive for a place with such low-quality offerings? What's more concerning is the inconsistent customer service-some staff are dismissive, & interactions are racially biased. It's incredibly disappointing to experience this kind of behavior in 2025.

If you're looking for the real taste of Italy in Montreal, you absolutely have to visit Pasticceria Alati-Caserta in Little Italy. After living in Montreal for a decade & trying countless bakeries, I can honestly say this is the gold standard for Italian pastries in the city.

The cannoli here are out of this world-crispy shells, filled to order with the creamiest ricotta filling (not too sweet, just right). I've brought friends from Italy, & even they were impressed! I also recommend trying their sfogliatelle & marzipan cookies-everything is made fresh & you can truly taste the quality. If you're celebrating something special, their custom cakes are beautifully made & always a hit.

The shop itself is charming & feels like stepping into a little corner of Naples. It can get busy, especially on weekends or around holidays, so be prepared for a bit of a line. But honestly, it's worth the wait. The staff is friendly & will happily help you choose if you're not sure what to try.

Highly recommended for anyone who loves authentic Italian desserts or wants to experience a true Montreal classic.

Very popular place, the only downside is the line up but it explains itself by the quality of the products there. It is an absolute must!

They put all the emphasis on looks & their pastries look amazing, but the quality of ingredients is severely lacking. You won't taste conplex cocoa, coffee, cream & mascarpone flavor, the pastries all taste only like sugar & kinda bland. If looks & sugar is all you care about, this place is astonishing. If complexity/quality of flavors matters to you, it is not worth going.

Alati Caserta is a true gem in the heart of Montreal's Little Italy, a bakery that has mastered the art of tradition & taste. While the storefront might be modest & not wheelchair accessible, the warmth & charm inside more than make up for it. There's usually a lineup outside, but don't let that deter you-it's a testament to the loyalty & love this bakery has earned from its customers over the years. Every visit feels like stepping into a world where quality & care reign supreme. Their creations are consistently flawless, crafted with a dedication to excellence that is hard to find elsewhere. From the first bite, you'll know that Alati Caserta is in a league of its own. The flavors are rich & authentic, with a perfect balance of textures that speak to decades of mastery. The service here is nothing short of outstanding. The staff is friendly, attentive, & clearly passionate about what they do. Whether you're a first-timer or a loyal regular, you're treated like family. With plenty of parking nearby, getting there is hassle-free, making it easy to return time & time again-which you will, because once you experience Alati Caserta, you'll understand why so many call it their favorite bakery in Montreal. I would give you 6 stars, if I could.

Authentic Italian pastry shop with the freshest & top quality ingredients used in cakes, pastries, cookies, taralli & tomato pizzas. There are more than a variety of cakes & sweets & this place is always busy. Despite the line ups the service is quite quick. Super friendly staff.
