Absolutely delicious food & such a lovely woman who owns the spot. The homemade noodles with beef is the perfect amount of spice & pepper. The soup noodles are everything I need when I am feeling sick - so warm & comforting. Make sure to try the honey chinese jelly dessert too!
Everytime I'm in Montreal this is a must have!
I love the Guilin rice noodles at this place the most. The crispy pork, pork intestine, & beef are all delicious! I've eaten here countless times. As someone from Guilin, it feels amazing to taste the flavors of home!
Tried Pangji Guilin Nouilles for a weekday lunch. They specialize in Guangxi food. The waitress was sweet & friendly. Make sure to try their hot sauce concoction. They ask for spice level; went with medium (which was closer to mild).
- River snails homemade noodle ($17.99) - plenty of bean curd. Homemade wavy noodles were plain but decent bite. Broth was homey
- Guilin rice noodle - beef ($15.99) - comes with the usual side soup. Beef slices were good but incredibly thin
As a first time visitor to Montreal, I went to this restaurant in the neighborhood where I'm staying & was so pleasantly surprised. I had the mango salad to start & then spicy beef noodles. It was delicious. The mango salad was super fresh & the noodles were so good & I am spoiled by the Asian food in Vancouver as comparison. What stood out equally was the customer care I received. Cindy, the server, had such a pleasant, open way of being & went out of her way to make sure I was looked after. A rare form of service.
The prices seemed reasonable. Near the Guy-Concordia Metro station, a block or so away.
The food was so good here! Had the spicy beef noodles - I think it was'G2' on the menu. The noodles were dense & had great texture. They held all the seasoning so well. The flavors were so delicious, but WOW - so spicy! They will reduce the spice if you want them to. The'burger' entree was good too. The staff was so nice. Edit: I've come back here a number of times, & the food is always so good. The flavors are quite unique. The pickled cabbage soup is delicious! Also, the burger entree just keeps getting better! Honestly, the burger has become one of my favorite things to eat at any restaurant. It's simple & savory. It will slowly creep into being one of your favorite things to eat. This is my favorite noodle place.
If you visit Montreal, don't forget to come here for a bowl of the distinctive'Guilin Rice Noodles'. The soup base, carefully prepared by the owner, is rich & delicious. The'Crispy Pork' &'Pan-Fried Beef' are simply amazing. A highly recommended great place! The boss is warm & sincere, giving you a feeling of being at home. very 😋🥰🥰
I decided to try a different type of noodle rather than the original Yunnan style beef noodle. Broth was thick & slightly spicy. Portion was decent.
Two of us walked in for dinner. Order two different noodles & both tasted so good & authentic! Service was fast & nice. Great place if you like a quick meal! Would recommend the Guilin noodles with beef!
Went for a quick takeout & turned out to be a great experience. Both the spicy beef noodles & the fish noodles we tried were great. Very unique flavour profiles. The chilli oil that came with it deserves special mention. The host was very friendly & we had a great conversation. Will be going back soon to try more stuff.
We've been here a few times, & the staff is always super friendly. We love the handmade noodles, especially the River Snails noodle (it's just the name, there is no snails or meat in this, so I consider it as vegetarian bowl of noodle) & the sour cabbage with beef homemade noodle. The stir-fried noodles are really good too. You can pay by card here.
Visiting from Chicago, couldn't help & stopped by this restaurant. I'm from Guilin haven't had Guilin rice noodles for like a century. Really surprised that they have it in downtown Montreal. Ordered rice noodles with beef very authentic & owner is super friendly & laid back that's my vibe. Y'all need to try more kinds of rice noodles from Guangxi province, the land of rice noodles!
AMAZING, this was my first time here & I had the spicy beef noodle dish with the cucumbers, it was addicting & mouth tingly, very cool feeling. Just wish there was more beef in the dish as it was delicious. The waitress was SO kind & patient with me, she helped me choose a dish that would be best suitable to my taste. Kindness like that can be so rare these days so this was a great respite to my day. I also really appreciate the prices being relatively affordable (: Will definitely be back again to try more!!
Went here for the first time since they moved downtown. The food is just as great. Had my favourite Chinese sausage as an appetiser & twice cooked pork & spicy beef for mains. They were all delicious :)
Delicious fresh pulled noodles 😋 taste very authentic , owners we're super sweet ! You can choose your spice level I took the pulled noodles with beef delicious 😋
This place is a GEM! We loved it when it was a tiny hole in the wall on Monk, where the sweet husband & wife duo served huge portions of steaming fresh noodles one bowl at a time...& having followed it downtown after its move, we can vouch that the quality of the service & the taste of the food are still as exeptional as before. The service is now much faster with the addition of 2 more chefs in the kitchen, & we can now order through our phones using a QR code. Price wise, it's still insanely reasonable. Order the snail noodles with a side of crispy pork(the best extra 6$ that you can possibly spend) or spicy hand pulled beef noodles. We'll definitely be back again! :)
Decent family owned Southern Chinese restaurant in dt Montreal! My impression of it when it was still at Monk was that its Guilin noodles came out quite plain, but this time when I tried the handmade noodles, the noodles' texture were perfect & they were very savoury! They got my order wrong, made stir fry noodles instead of soupy Laoyou noodles, but they are willing to redo it or provide a discount for it, & it actually tastes awesome! My bf's spicy beef noodles came out more numb than expected, but the dish on the Chinese menu is numb spicy beef noodles so it makes sense. So just be aware that there could be translation inaccuracies (e.g. mealworm just means the shape of it is shorter pieces of noodles lol), & the food are spicy in an authentic way, but the quality is trustworthy.
An overall really good experience Have not had this kind of flavours in a while, very authentic ! ( took the fried noodles with q reqlly nice wok hei & the spicy beef noodle - not too spicy & refreshing) It reminds me of my time in Asia & that is so precious. Thank you for your cuisine !
