sandwich(94) breakfast(74) salad(70) coffee(65) cheese(63) brunch(55) busy(46) fresh(42) ricotta(42) panini(40) pastries(39) cafe(39)We arrived as 3 people waited outside to have multiple people push past us, there is no indication of needing to reserve tables on the site etc… the room is VERY crampt, & they were out of most products & the server came 2x only, at the start & at the end, if we had needed anything we would have been left high & dry. It's unfortunate because there's a lot of potential. The chia granola bowl was NOT good. Salty, & lacked general flavour, felt like eating grool.
The sweet ricotta toast & Cubano were delicious, but difficult to justify $70 for this & two coffees (dine-in).
The fruit & yogurt granola was great, good coffee. Loved the vibe, butter croissant was great too. Highly recommend. Great spot for breakfast/brunch if you are visiting Montreal & staying at one of the nearby hotels
Stepping into this cozy, modern café felt like a warm embrace & the food was the chefs kiss. I ordered the salted ricotta & butternut squash soup, & it was an unforgettable experience for my taste buds . The Salty ricotta, something I wouldn't typically choose, turned out to be a revelation-creamy & flavorful, & perfectly balanced with the bread & sweet salad mix. Pairing it with the butternut squash soup elevated the meal to one of the best I've had in Montréal. My partner, opted for a double portion of the kids' mac & cheese, (because he doesn't like mushrooms) & it was rich, cheesy, with the perfect amount of crisp. He declared it one of the best mac & cheeses he's ever tasted. I couldn't resist one of their dark chocolate cookies, which was everything a cookie should be: soft, rich, & satisfying. The service was warm & attentive, making the entire experience even more delightful.
Their ricotta salad was so yummy (5/5). The pain au chocolat was a 4/5 & the tea also very good. Prices are really really high: the salad alone was 25 CAD as of 2024 (remainder for the simplistic Europeans, price is without taxes & tip).
Fantastic coffee, atmosphere & great menu options, grilled cheese was unreal!
What an amazing little find! The food was incredible, especially the tex mex breakfast
Bustling, but with quick turnover & not that much of a wait for us in a Sunday morning. 20 minutes maybe. The excellent staff run a right ship here, & the service & food are both of the highest quality. Hot sandwiches are where the menu shines for me, & although 8CAD for an orange juice is a lot, it's good. Anyway this place was good enough for Phil Rosenthal on Netflix, so if I can't convince you, listen to him.
C'est un restaurant merveilleux avec des gens merveilleux. Nous recommandons vivement d'y aller pour le brunch, même s'il faut attendre. Nous reviendrons !
Olive & Gourmando have been in the western end of Old Montreal for over two decades. When they started, the neighbourhood was a wasteland & the only reason to go there was to eat their delicious sandwiches, brioches, & other delights. Now it's a hip part of town, in no small part because of O & G, & they still make delicious food, have great staff, & a wonderful atmosphere.
I saw everywhere that this was a great place. But the coffee wasn't good, they almost didn't have any pastries, & what they had was not that good. I didn't feel that comfortable...
The ambience is really nice, good vibe but it's be try pricey for what it is. I ordered a fuego fuego sandwich & I don't know how is this like 25$ , however the French toast was delicious. I recommend this place only for a quick grab & go .. coffee & maybe a pastry.. not really for brunch
