We went to mon village just before christmas 2025. I asked if the French fries were thick cut. They said yes so I opted for the fries with my meal which was chicken brochette. When our meal arrived the brochette was cremated & charred, the peppers were black & the chicken was dry & horribly overcooked. Frankly it was inedible. The chips were cooked in oil that was patently very old, the fries were oil soaked, brown sour tasting & floppy. The best part of the meal was out of a packet, which was the pate. The bill was over 100 dollars including a glass of wine & a beer. It was far & away the worst meal I have had in 23 years of living in Canada. Dont order the fish & chips either. They were bad the time before when I went but I decided to give it one more chance. We wont be going ever again. If you must go, just go for a beer. The building is full of character.
At one time Mon Village Restaurant was the play to go & their french onion soup was the best , but last night experience was the worst !! First the roof was leaking on top of the head of my friend then they changed our sitting arrangement & brought up stairs where I had a broken chair after asking the waitress for a new chair..her comment was I don't know where to get another & started to take drink orders are you freaken kidding me. I had to stop her to find me another chair it took her about 10 minutes she came back with a chair with the center missing.. I had sit & not move .. when our order came another friend order mush potatoes & it was cold like they took it out of the fridge & never even try to attend to warm it up .. another friend & myself order the french onion soup & it had no onions & tasted like bread & broth cause that's what was in the soup bread !! Only bread totally disgusting & disappointed!!
What happened to at one time a very good restaurant now disgusting
Very nice rustic, comfortable atmosphere with great French inspired home cooking. I make it a point to bring my largest Generac Dealer in Canada here whenever I'm in Eastern Ontario.
I had the Grilled Chicken Cesar Salad for lunch, it was magnificent.
Very nice quiet restaurant with a lot of sitting options. Very rustic & a beautiful fireplace in the mail area & another behind the bar. A lot of people go to this restaurant, frequently busy. Best to make an appointment. Best french onion soup in the world.
Stopped here on our way to the airport in Montreal. We were pressed for time & thought we should go somewhere else. Walking we said sorry but have to fly. He (Manager/Owner) said you want something quick we can do that. French Onion soup & salad in 5 minutes & it was fantastic. Very happy he suggested we stay. Great service & great food. Pity we had to eat & run!
This place is actually really nice! Very glad we stopped in yesterday. Great French onion soup & garlic bread!
Always tasty & generous portions... addicted to their French onion soup 🍲. A smile goes a long way & costs little though...
We often dine at Mon Village & after a superb performance at the Hudson Village Theatre we went with friends for an early dinner. Overall we were disappointed with the slow service, having to remind the waiter for a drink & then coffee. The food was OK, Teriyaki Chicken sauce tasted like it came from a bottle. The fish (fish & chips) was served on top of the French fries making them greasy. Even the fries served with the cheeseburger were not great. The quality was not equal to the price & the experience has diminished from previous visits.
We had a great lunch today! I started with the spinach, pear & goat cheese salad & then had the blackened cod with jumbo shrimp. My dessert was the eggnog raisin rum sauce cheesecake. The cod was cooked perfectly. Loved the salad & dessert. I would definitely have this meal again. My boyfriend had the French onion soup, the fish & chips & the chocolate fudge pecan pie. He enjoyed everything. Our friend took the Cajun style Atlantic salmon & the frozen Alaska lemon pie. She absolutely loved her dessert! We were impressed by how good the food was & will definitely be back again! Compliments to the chef!
Really good french cuisine. I had the fish & chips they were fantastic, & I also had the french onion soup, which was really good.
Great atmosphere, good food & excellent service. Lots of favorites & classics . Who doesn't love their delicious poutine, french onion soup?
