Review Summary

Mon Village Restaurant is described as a charming, rustic haven set in an old house, with a warm, cozy atmosphere, fireplaces and intimate spaces that make for a memorable dining experience. The menu earns praise for generous portions and comforting, home-style French-inspired dishes, with standout items such as prime rib, filet mignon, coquilles Saint-Jacques, roast beef, open-faced prime rib, and well-executed fish and chips, often accompanied by garlic bread and hearty sauces; the desserts, cheeses, and various sides are frequently highlighted as well. Service is commonly regarded as friendly, attentive and professional, helping to create consistently positive visits, though a few recent experiences note slower kitchen performance and uneven service. Reservations are strongly advised, especially on weekends, to avoid missing out or long waits. Overall, Mon Village Restaurant comes across as a beloved, reliable dining destination praised for its ambiance, atmosphere, and generous portions, with many guests hoping the kitchen can maintain its high standard as trends evolve post pandemic and as prices are sometimes seen as steep relative to some expectations.

What a gem! We went for a early Sunday dinner & had a lovely time.

The food was lovely. I have to say, the veggies were cooked perfectly 👌 they were hot & soft, with a bit of firmness still to them. So many places overcook veggies & the come so soft if not mushy.... but not here. The brightness they add to the plates was refreshing to see. The steaks my table had were cooked to a perfect temp. One had a medium & I had the mid-rare & you can see the difference. Both spot on.

The chicken dishes my other companions had were just as nice, & moist.

The service was attentive & very friendly. Dennis'the Menace' (our server) made us feel welcomed & feel like he knew us. He made a playful joke & the end that referenced a joke we made with him while serving. It showed he took an interest in us while we were there.

Look I could go on & explain that I was worried when I saw the menu had so many choices, & that I thought that they would not be able to keep it all fresh.... but saw no sign that ciuld be the case. Dont tell but even was checking out the other tables food.... their burger looked so appealing & I had just finished eatting.

I saw about a dozen beer on tap, & enough glassware hanging that I would bet that on a Friday or Sat it wiuld have a nice atmosphere.

If you are in the area this is a great place to go. Right off the highway & has such a charm to it.

I dont give 5 stars often but if I had to pick a complaint.... it would be that they brought the sauces for the main during the appetizer service. So I am not taking a star off for that.

Will most certainly go back again.

Came from prince edward island to visit family in Quebec.

He had ribs, I had pesto chicken pasta.

Food was amazing, service was amazing.

Parking was a little bumpy.

Really hard to find anything bad to say about the experience.

We went to mon village just before christmas 2025. I asked if the French fries were thick cut. They said yes so I opted for the fries with my meal which was chicken brochette. When our meal arrived the brochette was cremated & charred, the peppers were black & the chicken was dry & horribly overcooked. Frankly it was inedible. The chips were cooked in oil that was patently very old, the fries were oil soaked, brown sour tasting & floppy. The best part of the meal was out of a packet, which was the pate. The bill was over 100 dollars including a glass of wine & a beer. It was far & away the worst meal I have had in 23 years of living in Canada. Dont order the fish & chips either. They were bad the time before when I went but I decided to give it one more chance. We wont be going ever again. If you must go, just go for a beer. The building is full of character.

Nice old style farmhouse. Wide menu selection. Menu could be more complete regarding what comes with your meal. Group of 12 for lunch, did not feel rushed. I had Fish & Chips, nice wide cut fries a little greasy but tasty. My wife had a Chicken Brochette was nice, again explanation of meal would have been helpful to avoid food intolerance.

This was a new experience. I have, over the years, heard about the food at Mon Village, especially their Prime Rib.
I wish I too was able to try it. But we were too late. We arrived for the reservation early, at 7:30 after a game of golf, & were told they were out of the prime rib.🥲
So I ordered the Chicken & Ribs & my husband had the Coquille.
The chicken breast was perfectly cooked & juicy. The ribs...I wanted more. It was served with home-cut fries, the best, & steamed veggies (they were a bit undercooked for my liking). The sauce that smothered both proteins was slightly sweet & tangy. I completely loved it.
The coquille's sauce was just like my mom used to make. Potatoes circled the mushroom & seafood filling. It too was served with steamed vegetables but here my husband got rice instead of fries.
The only disappointment we had was that the prime rib wasn't available. We were told that service starts at 5 pm until they have no more left. Some days it sells out quickly & some days not. Reservations of meat are not allowed.
Will we go back? Probably.

Very nice rustic, comfortable atmosphere with great French inspired home cooking. I make it a point to bring my largest Generac Dealer in Canada here whenever I'm in Eastern Ontario.

I had the Grilled Chicken Cesar Salad for lunch, it was magnificent.

Very nice hidden gem! Their garlic bread is amazing plus they serve the biggest chicken parmesan I have ever seen. Everything was hot, fresh & delicious!

We have eaten at Mon Village Restaurant many times over the past 30 years or so. Never disappoints. Great value for money. Food is excellent. Service was pretty good. My wife had the prime rib table d'hôte; we shared the blue cheese Waldorf salad before digging into our mains. I ordered the rib & chicken dinner. Everything was cooked, seasoned & sauced well. My only complaint is that they hid a bunch of *vegetables* under my fresh cut fries! (The sauteed veggies were actually very good, & the mountain of fries would have been a bit much anyway.)

I went to Mon Village with my late friend's daughter, her kids & my wife today. This was not my first time here. I ordered Teriaki chicken & my friend granddaughter ordered a chicken sandwich. Both chicken dishes were overcooked, dried out & almost impossible to cut even with a serrated knife. They were sent back & I order fish & chips (as did one granddaughter) & the granddaughter--roast beef dip (as did two others at the table). The dip was great. Since my fish & chips was replacing a meal that I sent back, one would think that the next plate would be perfect. It was not. It did not resemble that which one of the granddaughters ordered & loved. My fish portion was small, greasy, the batter was abundant & the ends were over cooked. I didn't complain because I didn't want to eat alone since everyone was done with their meal. I was not happy.

We often dine at Mon Village & after a superb performance at the Hudson Village Theatre we went with friends for an early dinner. Overall we were disappointed with the slow service, having to remind the waiter for a drink & then coffee. The food was OK, Teriyaki Chicken sauce tasted like it came from a bottle. The fish (fish & chips) was served on top of the French fries making them greasy. Even the fries served with the cheeseburger were not great. The quality was not equal to the price & the experience has diminished from previous visits.

I have been to this restaurant for years. My boyfriend & I make a point to go once every month because we love it so much. We have had many things on the menu, from the huntclub steak, the Mon village steak, the prime rib, filet melt, penne marscapone with chicken, cheesecake, etc. Everything has always been delicious & served to our liking. The waiters & waitresses are incredibly friendly & pleasant. We had Mike as our waiter yesterday & he was particularly great! We had a reservation at 7:30pm but had a small emergency & had to return home. We called & let them know that we wouldn't make it before 7:50pm (last call for ordering food as kitchen closed at 8pm). They were very understanding & Mike, our waiter, said he would tell the kitchen they would be getting an order a little later than usual today & that it was no problem. We were so thankful! We always recommend this restaurant to friends & family, & everyone who tries it loves it. Highly recommended!

Omg!! The food was delicious & the prices amazing for the portion you receive. My chicken brochettes plate could have easily fed 2 people same for my moms & sister plate. Definitely recommend if you're in the area & if your going for dinner, highly recommend trying to reserve a table ahead of time
