Perfect balance of fancy but not stuffy. Great dishes, the devilled brussel sprouts were amazing, so was the roast beef. There was a marriage proposal at the table right next to us, many festive occasions, mutiple birthdays. Stopped by this spot in Lachine because it looked really cute on the inside - definitely a cozy place if you're just looking to grab a drink or a beer after hanging out in the area. Unfortunately, the food really didn't live up to expectations.
The highlights: the Parker House rolls were excellent - soft, buttery, garlicky perfection. Fries were also solid, crispy & well-seasoned. The horseradish sauce wasn't for me (but that's more about preference, so if you like horseradish you might enjoy it).
Everything else was disappointing. The ribs had a tasty Korean-inspired sweet-savory sauce, but the actual ribs were almost entirely fat with barely any meat - I've never had ribs like that before. The rigatoni pasta was cooked properly, but the sauce was bland & lacked depth, leaving the dish flat overall.
It was one of those meals that just felt very'mid' all around, which is frustrating when there are so many better options in Montreal. Maybe it was just an off night, but personally I won't be coming back. The food execution needs serious work if they want to match the nice vibe of the space.
If you haven't tried their brunch, RUN don't walk. It was my first time trying it & they did not disappoint! Servers are sooo friendly & fast. We tried the croque madame & the schnitzel sandwich + extra hashbrowns. Everything was sooo delicious! Just perfect portions & very tasty. We also got lattes, they were great! To top it off we ordered 2 donuts: dulce de leche & maple! Exquisite. Will definitely come back to try other items, the place has big windows that light the whole restaurant. The vibes are super nice.
Good vibes. Schnitzel was particularly amazing!!!🤩 linguini was slightly fishy.
Hidden in an industrial area near the Lachine Canal, McKiernan is a true hidden gem by the team behind Joe Beef.
Don't be fooled by the low-key entrance - inside is a warm, plant-filled space with beautiful natural light & high ceilings. Perfect for brunch, solo time, or a relaxed hangout with friends.
Today's special was a perfectly cooked medium-rare beef with fresh greens - incredibly tender & flavorful. The crispy Brussels sprouts were addictive, like snack food. The rigatoni was rich & satisfying (though not spicy as described).
The cutlet reminded me of a thick, crispy Shanghainese fried pork chop - so good. I also saw someone use hash browns as burger buns with fried chicken… genius idea I'll try next time!
Dessert was a surprise hit - a blueberry cheesecake donut that was juicy & light, not overly sweet. The orange blossom mocktail had a unique Jo Malone-style aroma - floral & refreshing (but wish it came in a bigger glass!).
Friendly service, no rush vibes, way more comfortable than noisy downtown spots. I'll be coming back again & again to try more!
Incredible food & very fun vibes inside. We had a fixed menu & the dishes were solid all around, especially the brussel sprouts & tartare

The vibe of this place is great. The waiters/waitresses are super friendly. Great choice for birthday parties. Food is delicious. The dolce de lece donut is to die for.
I absolutely love the atmosphere at McKiernan. Rustic barn, ballroom vibe. It is simply one of my favourite places to eat in Montreal time & time again. Never disappointed. Staff is always on point as well. The quality for the price is totally fair & the clientele are a nice mix from all walks of life. No elitism just people passionate about good food.
I've heard that you can rent out the venue for wedding receptions & such as well which would be fabulous!
Their brussels sprouts are one of my single favourite dishes & all of Montreal.

I love McKiernan. It's such a vibe, & their pasta is incredible. Their spicy rigatoni is always a go-to but their butternut squash pasta was out of this world. Their classic rolls & the burrata are also amazing. The only negative was that the service was slow, but the restaurant was jammed. We also loved the energy of the support staff who brought the foods & drinks.
Lovely. Warm. Attentive. & that just describes our waitress!!! Excellent place with unmatched vibes & insanely tasty food (the brussel sprouts!!). But special shout-out to Vanessa, who was just so kind & welcoming!!! Best service ever!!!

My favorite restaurant in Montreal thus far! I could spend hours here just enjoying the vibe alone, but the food is also spectacular. I particularly enjoyed the roasted chicken & gravy, as well as the donuts. I can't wait to come back.
It was my husband & I's first time here & we were really impressed with everything. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, the vibe is great. Our waiter Alex was awesome - super kind, attentive & helpful. Everything we ordered was amazing - highly recommend the beef tartare & rigatoni. Portions were very generous & the price is really fair! We loved it & will be back
Came here for dinner & had a fantastic meal! We got the Moscow mule & Bloody Caesar for drinks. Started the meal with a tomato salad from their daily specials & the zesty Italian beef tartare. The tomato salad had pine nuts, basil & a delightful dressing. The beef tartare was served with endive & so delicious! We got the honey garlic spare ribs, rotisserie chicken Alexandre & fries to share. The spare ribs were so tasty - sweet & sticky. The rotisserie chicken was so good!! The sauce was so savoury - would highly recommend the rotisserie chicken & the beef tartare! The fries were shoe string cut, nicely seasoned & came with a Dijonaise. The staff were all extremely attentive & service was amazing! The restaurant space is so open & spacious. It has a great vibe. The string lights were a nice touch. They have plants everywhere - I loved it all! They also have a foosball table near the bathrooms & people were actually playing. Would highly recommend!
This restaurant was a great vibe. The decor & ambiance is awesome; modern yet still respecting the history of the building. For it's location, parking is surprisingly simple with a lot & attendant. Free for restaurant go-ers! Drink service was very slow. Some of us not receiving drinks (glasses of wine) until after food was already at the table. Not sure if this is a server issue or a logistical issue. The food is delicious & very shareable. Rolls & deviled Brussel sprouts are a must! The signature chicken is every bit the star. All in all, I can't wait to go back & experience McKiernan again & again.
It was my second time here & it was just as good as the first. We were a group of 10 & had a reservation at 9:30 on a Saturday night, & ended up waiting half an hour for our table because the table before us refused to leave. When we finally sat down, everything was just fantastic . The food is so good & the vibe is great. The manager came & apologized for the wait which was very nice. Service was fantastic! We will definitely be back.
