Great wine options, & we absolutely loved the burrata & pesto pasta (those were only the 2 things we tried as we weren't super hungry). Not a ton of options for vegetarians but there are some so it's definitely worth going! I'm still a little confused about how to book an actual table as we seemed to only be able to book the bar, but wasn't an issue for us.
We were a walk-in so I'll go easy on the service because I know how it is for busy employees being handed unplanned tables, but this place left so much to be desired. The pasta itself had an unrefined, simple flavour. I expected something a bit more complex & sophisticated from a place like this. It wasn't bad food, but it could be beat by most Italian restaurants. Food was taken from us before we had a chance to finish our plates. Constant water refills & service went through all the motions but barely listened to us or stayed long enough at the table for us to blurt out we want napkins or how we want the check split. Very rushed, no actual care, just checking boxes. Again I really don't want to blame the servers here because they are probably overwhelmed & just doing what management says in a rush but it's disappointing to pay for food that's just taken right out of your mouth & no time to listen to any of our preferences.
Incredible experience! The menu is not limited to delicious typical Italian dishes, but also includes more refined & elaborate items such as the crudo di branzino (pictured half eaten 🙈). The ox tail was tender as can be & the grilled octopus was one of the best we've ever had. The only thing as good as the food is the service: you are not served by a specific waiter, but rather by a well-orchestrated team of waiters. The food is served fast, your glass is refilled almost instantly - just perfect. Also, strongly recommend sitting at the bar & asking for Juan Carlos who was impeccably attentive. Will be coming back soon!
Food is good
Wine list is decent
Booking is required. Their walk in veryyyy limited
The parties smaller than 4 are offered only bar seat but its a cool experience
Not much parking available
The food was incredible but the service was okay. It felt like they took a long time to flip their tables. Both the appetizer & the main took a while to get to me & it sadly took a while for me to get a glass of wine. My waitress was also a bartender so I can empathize with how busy she was & how tough it may have been to check in on me. I noticed how the lineup to get inside was super long so i just decided to ask for my food to be packed up & ordered my dessert to go. Despite all of that, I had a decent time & I would definitely come back - just not on a busy night.
Even though it's hard to find anything to complain about at Mano, it's still difficult not to compre to how it was when it first opened.
Service is a touch slower & isn't as friendly as it was when the owners were still there hanging out, but it's still pretty good. Though there is clear favouritism amongst their friends who come to hang out & who order bottles. The focaccia isn't as fresh & fluffy & ... big as it used to be. The pasta dishes? Slightly smaller than usual & sometimes undercooked these days.
With all that said...I think the bar is still set really high. You will struggle to find similar overall service & value anywhere else.
Belle faune compétente dans la cuisine & au bar. Tout était excellent
The service was ok. The pesto pasta was delicious in flavor but arrived tepid; when reheated with added water, it came back warmer but unfortunately diluted. The cocktail was very good. The Caesar salad was excellent.
As a walk-in, I was seated at the bar behind a cement column - the last spot available. I asked to wait for a table at the bar but wasn't offered this option, which would have made the experience more enjoyable.
Overall, the restaurant has a lot of potential, & while this visit could have been better, I'll give it another try.
Best Italian in town. The service is top notch. I STRONGLY recommend !!!!
For the food here is my recommendation :
- Caesar salad
- Bar carpaccio
- risotto
- pistachio cake
We absolutely love their food, it's just so perfect! The burrata, pesto pasta, & the pork shop are our favourites - yum, yum, yum! They also have great wines & cocktails. I just wish they had table seating for couples, not just bar seating.
We shared the burrata, Caesar salad, & tartare, everything was delicious. We sat at the bar, which had the perfect ambiance for a cozy date night. Highly recommend & can't wait to go back!
What an amazing italian restaurant! Everything from the quality of the ingredients, the cozy ambiance, to the wonderful service is perfect.
The salad & its dressing was super tasty, deifnitely a very nice twist of the average caesar salad. Also the quantity & quality was just ideal. & the focaccia bread? Very nice.
I had a great time sitting at the bar, & watching them prepare different pastries while waiting for my dish.
We stumbled upon this gem by accident & it was the best experience. Michelle was our server & she was warm, welcoming & friendly. The food was incredible. We had 2 sandwiches & Cesar salad. The salad was the best I've ever had. We had the chocolate cake for dessert & it was incredible. Not too sweet & simply delicious. We sat at the bar so got to watch everyone at work & it was fascinating. Adam is one of the chefs & he (& Michelle) gave us some awesome recommendations of places to check out while we are visiting. It was a fantastic experience & we will be back every time we visit Montreal. If ur thinking about trying this place…do yourself a favour & do it!
The entrance service was excellent; we were warmly welcomed, which was the best part of the experience. The waitress was kind, but things took a turn when she insisted that we order food if we wanted to stay. The plate we ordered was a disappointment-it consisted of no more than three pieces of prosciutto, four slices of pepperoni, & four olives drenched in oil & pepper. While the mozzarella was admittedly good, the dish was grossly overpriced for what it offered. The cocktails were well-made, & the service remained polite, but it became clear that the staff was under pressure to push us to order food. The justification given, "we are not a bar but a restaurant-bar," felt misplaced, especially since we were seated at the counter, directly in front of an oven & a staff member washing dishes. This left us with a very disappointing experience. The initial cocktail set high expectations, & we might have given 5 stars had the rest of the visit lived up to that start. Unfortunately, it didn't.
Food is amazing but something about the service is very disappointing every time. Being seated at a cramped bar with no room to move my arms & use utensils (I mentioned it & nothing was done), no waiter checking in or filling water the entire time, next course coming without previous plates being cleared, at some point the restaurant was filled with smoke & no one opened the doors to clear it quickly. It's also very loud every time I go, not sure if that's part of the atmosphere or if I've been unlucky. I don't understand why each time I have to leave feeling like the guest I brought with me feels disappointed.
First time at Mano Cornuto. Had a great beef carpaccio for appi with focaccia, followed by pesto pasta for me & mushroom pasta for my wife. We sat at the bar & enjoyed watching the staff work & chefs prepare meals. Would strongly recommend.
We had a seat at the bar, which was a great spot since we got to see the team in action. They have a great variety of cocktails, wine & the food - incredible. We had the burrata, the pesto spaghetti, the Zucca & hanger steak w/chick peas. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend!
Went in for drinks & was delightfully surprised at the friendly service, kitchen/bar & atmosphere. Snacked on the crudo off the late night menu & had cocktails made to order. Going back for dinner 100%
Limited seating makes reservations a good idea. The vibe leans more to a bar feel, & it is a little noisy. Wide selection of drinks. The food is excellent. I had the mushroom fettuccine, & my companion had the spaghetti bolognese. The staff is bilingual, & the service is very good. I will return anytime I am in town.
Wife & I ate at the bar. Service was great, food was amazing, & they played my hip hop beats. We will be back next time we visit Montreal & also try the cafe next door.
