Let me start off by saying, I barely write reviews.
My coworker & I previously ordered by delivery to our place of work, from this exact restaurant earlier this month.
Today, my coworker & I drove to Mama Dumplings from boul des Sources, to have lunch at this exact location & arrived at 12:10pm. We were the 3rd customers there & it was clear the two other customers before us had already ordered. We already knew what we wanted & we both placed our single order of steamed/ fried dumplings.
By 12:28pm, people had come into the restaurant to order & people were getting served & paying for their order before us - they were dining-in.
My coworker asked for our order to then be taken to go as we resume work at 1pm.
At 12:48pm, we asked the gentlemen - who was in charge, if our order was ready? The gentleman seemed too busy to care, while he was holding two soup bowls in his hands for another customer. My coworker & I left the restaurant empty handed - with no meals.
I have no clue what the issue was, it's one thing if everyone is also waiting & isn't being served, it's another thing when a ton of customer also dining-in & everyone who came after you, is eating before you. We are both Canadian females, ages 27-38 & mixed race & black.
I will never go back to this location. What happened today was completely unacceptable &, quite frankly, one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had.
My coworker & I arrived at 12:10 p.m. for lunch. We were the third customers in the restaurant & placed two simple dumpling orders. There was absolutely no reason for what happened next.
We wasted our time driving to this restaurant, only to spend nearly 50 minutes sitting there watching customer after customer who arrived after us place their orders, receive their food, eat, pay, & leave. Meanwhile, we were completely ignored.
As we were running out of time, we even asked if our order could be changed to takeout. That made absolutely no difference.
At 12:48 p.m., after waiting almost 40 minutes, we asked the man in charge if our food was ready. He came out carrying bowls of dumpling soup for another table & gave the impression that he didn't want to be bothered. Instead of stopping to address our concern, he brushed us off, offered no explanation, no apology, & showed no urgency whatsoever. His attitude made us feel like our time & our business didn't matter.
We walked out empty-handed. No food. No explanation. No apology. Just a complete waste of our time.
This wasn't just slow service. This was poor management. If customers who walked in well after us were able to order, receive their meals, & even finish eating before we received anything, then something is seriously wrong with how this restaurant is being run. Orders should never be handled this poorly, & customers should never have to chase staff just to find out where their food is.
It's disappointing because we had previously ordered from this location on multiple occasions & enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, good food doesn't excuse terrible service. Respecting your customers' time is just as important as the food you serve.
Today, this restaurant failed on every level. They wasted our time driving there, wasted our time making us sit & wait while everyone else was being served, & left us with absolutely nothing after nearly 50 minutes. I will never return to this location, & I cannot recommend it to anyone who values their time.
Delicious soup & delicate wontons in the soup. .
The steamed dumplings were a very nice size full of chicken & flavour (we have also ordered porc). Very delicious & satisfying. I will be be back .

On a cold winter day, this place hit the spot perfectly. Everything was freshly made on the spot. The soup dumplings were comforting & flavorful, the fried dumplings were crispy & delicious, & the peanut butter dumplings were surprisingly amazing - so good & perfectly balanced. Cozy, satisfying, & definitely worth coming back for!
Very fresh dumplings made to order. Lamb are very special. Shrimp won ton soup has a very shrimpy broth, so good. Averages at about 16$ a bamboo bowl of 15 steamed dumplings. Fried is a bit more. Cozy.
Cozy, & cool. Best dumplings you could find in West Island (through assume that Sammi is comparable).
Pork & cabbage are excellent! & the hot & sour soup is one of the better ones I've found in MTL!
Friendly staff & fast service. The shrimp & lamp dumplings were the table favourites. Didn't love the mushroom & vermicelli dumplings as they weren't soupy.
Food used to be decent but deteriorated quite drastically recently. Spring rolls were not crispy enough & tasted like the oil used wasn't hot enough. The steamed dumplings were all glued together & no way we could get one out without breaking the dumpling wrapper, thus losing all the soup inside. Honestly, I can easily get a pack of frozen dumplings from an Asian grocery store & taste much better & cost far less. Also, we can see quite a lot of dust & spider webs on the decorative lightbulbs & steamers on the walls, makes one wonder how much effort the owner took to maintain the store.
This little gem is one of my fave places in the West Island now when I visit . The dumplings hand made to Order . Nice place clean, good service & price is great. It's not fast food so will take time to make but worth it. Get a half & half plate of 15 mix & order a hot & sour soup which is fantastic. Ate here twice in a week!
