Six of us went for dinner on New Year's Day while on a quick trip from Toronto. We already had high expectations for this restaurant, but it completely exceeded them. Nicki was an exceptional server & struck the perfect balance of attentiveness, personality, & professionalism. He walked us through the menu, helped curate our experience, & offered spot on recommendations. Honestly, Nicki's service alone is reason enough to visit.
The food was flavourful, fresh, & beautifully balanced with comforting, familiar flavours & modern twists. It more than lived up to the menu descriptions & beyond. This will absolutely be a must visit spot anytime we are in Montreal.
Thank you Nicki for ending our trip on such a high & bringing so many laughs to our dinner!!
Amazing experience at Mama C Restaurant!
The space is beautiful & very welcoming, & the food & coffee were really good. We had a great time there with my parents who were visiting from Mexico.
Basil, our server, was very friendly & attentive. He took the time to explain the dishes in spanish to my family-especially my parents, who don't speak any English-& his recommendations were excellent. That made the whole experience feel relaxed & enjoyable.
My brother & I own a Mexican café in downtown Toronto, so we truly appreciate good food & genuine hospitality. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're visiting the area.
A very elegant & beautiful restaurant. The ambience is very romantic & no pictures do it justice. The food itself is unforgettable, I felt like Remy from Ratatouille when he was tasting the cheese & strawberry. Every bite was a bliss to my taste buds. Our waiter was fantastic, very knowledgeable about the menu & gave us the perfect recommendations. Our personal favourite was the octopus appetizer. The waiters' service was very professional & attentive & engaging. Our glasses were never empty & our finished plates never lingered on our table.
My only regret is the coat service. Unfortunately, my partner's coat was dragged on the floor twice, & it was pretty upsetting to see. I don't believe it was done on purpose, but it was unexpected for such a high end restaurant. Otherwise, the young ladies at the reception were more than delightful & welcoming. They also answer the phone very quickly & are very helpful with any questions or requests.
The bathrooms are clean & gender neutral, so don't feel lost when you can't find the gendered bathroom signs. The entrance to the restaurant is through the Mama C café, there's a nice waiting area decorated by cozy couches & warm dimmed lights.
Overall, the experience was unforgettable & we have already recommended the restaurant to everyone we know. I can't wait to return. The presentation & flavors were exceptional - culinary artistry at its finest. My sincere compliments to the chef.
The food & atmosphere are amazing! Our server Niki was very attentive & gave us great recommendations. Overall great service & food.
We had a most enjoyable family lunch, with eleven of us, including four children. The menu was most original, with classic dishes, most with a Greek take on them (steak tartare is divine!). Our waitress, Melissa, was amazing, possibly one of the best servers I have had the pleasure to experience. It started when we entered & she took the initiative to seat our family in a quiet corner. Melissa was incredibly patient in taking our order, creative with her recommendations, especially when it came to the kids' order. Throughout the meal, Melissa was attentive & proactive & made our luncheon a wonderful reunion.
Came here for the first time with my boyfriend after visiting from Toronto & I have to say the service & food were incredible. Ariane (the blonde lady) was absolutely amazing, her recommendations were spot on! (We did the beef kebab & sea bream as our mains). Truly exceptional service & she definitely made it an unforgettable experience for me. As someone who likes collecting souvenirs, she even let me keep the postcard that came with the bill which was such a lovely little touch. The team at Mama C should be lucky to have her. I was mind blown by the food as well, compliments to the chef. Although, I am only visiting for the weekend I can not wait to come back & visit solely for this restaurant :)
From the moment I started seeing all the TikTok's I've been wanting to come try the spanakopita salad & it did not disappoint. Our waitress Kim also gave us some amazing recommendations like the pastitio. She was always right there checking up on us making sure everything was to our liking. We will definitely be coming back to see her & to have another bougatsa.
Absolutely loved my experience at Mama C! The atmosphere is warm & elegant, with stunning decor that feels like a perfect mix of Mediterranean charm & Old Montreal sophistication.
The food was phenomenal - fresh, vibrant, & beautifully plated. The dorade sashimi & the lamb shoulder (carved right at the table!) were absolute standouts.
A special shoutout to Leslie, the sommelière, who made our night extra special. Her wine recommendations were thoughtful & spot-on, & you could really feel her passion & deep knowledge. She brought a whole new layer of enjoyment to the meal - the wine pairings truly elevated each dish.
Service overall was excellent: attentive, friendly, & unrushed. Mama C is ideal for date night, a celebration, or just a memorable evening out. Can't wait to return!
My partner & I had a wonderful time. The food was delicious & the Octopus entrée making it easily in our top 2 plates of the night. The atmosphere was modern with a twist. We had ordered the sashimi aka gravlax entrée & it was disappointing which was pointed out by the waiter as one of his recommendations.
Service was excellent for most of the evening: attentive, & friendly. However, when we politely declined dessert & asked for the bill, service stumbled a little. It took about 10 minutes for the payment machine to be brought over, & we eventually had to flag down a second staff member to settle up. This incident made me lose a star since it felt like as soon as we were not increasing the bill we became un-interesting. The price is definitely at a higher budget. Great for special occasions.
Small hicup I had specificed that this was for a birthday & it was not acknowledged by the server.
Absolutely amazing time. Radislau took care of us from the moment we sat down, from food recommendations to drinks we felt like we have been coming here for years. The atmosphere is incredible. Mama C is now in our books to return in the very near future.

If you're looking for a dining experience that dazzles the senses & redefines modern Greek cuisine, **Mama C** in Old Town Montreal is your new obsession. From the moment you step inside, the vibrant, hip atmosphere wraps you in warmth, blending rustic charm with chic, contemporary flair. But the real magic? The food. Oh, the *food*!
Let's start with the star of the show: the **filet mignon**. This isn't just a dish-it's a revelation. Melt-in-your-mouth tender, perfectly seared, & seasoned with a bold Mediterranean rub that dances on the palate. Paired with velvety garlic-infused mashed potatoes & crisp seasonal veggies, every bite felt like a standing ovation. & the **juicy chicken**? Marinated to perfection, bursting with herbaceous, citrusy notes, & so succulent it practically sings. **Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)**
*Mama C, you've stolen my heart (& my appetite). Until next time!*
Amazing place with authentic Mediterranean food & excellent service. Food: all the meals were really delicious, with the star being the spanakopita salad, extraordinary. The main dish, lamb, was tender, seared to perfection, & served with a jus & thyme oil. The dessert, fantastic. All meals divided by 4 people, lots of food, great value. Left pretty full! Service: our server, Josh, fantastic & knowledgeable, attentive, & quick. Sommelier: great recommendations all through the night, definitely go with Geek wines. Atmosphere: really brings us back to Santorini. The ambiance, the music, the seating. Extremely well thought out layout. The bars are snazzy too. Overall: highly recommended, delicious fresh food & authentic options, excellent service & ambience. Will go back certainly to try the moussaka.
Would fly the 2.5 hours to Montreal just to ear here. Everything was perfect. The Pastitsio was a special dish but recommend sharing. Seabass tartare, shrimp saganaki, & the spanakopita salad were also honorable mentions. Alex made all the recommendations & didn't steer us wrong. We love him!
Ambiance is fantastic, our waiter was very knowledgeable & was actively making recommendations. The night was busy since it was Christmas day, so wait time for our order was longer but we didn't mind. Starter was the tyropita which was creamy, perfectly salty & sweet at the same time. We ordered the octopus which had bits that were too charred. However, the dish as a whole was delicious. Moussaka was hearty, tasty, & goes straight to your soul. For dessert: bougatsa. You must get it. Right amount of sweetness, crispy phyllo, chocolate on top hits the spot.
Based off of recommendations online, we were excited to give Mama C a try. First off, the general vibe & decor was stunning. We were so excited to be seated, but the hostess seemed annoyed & generally unpleasant. Our server was nice but seemed like he was in a rush & didn't take the time to explain anything on the menu or any specials. When we asked about the difference between two types of fish (catch of the day, which were not on the menu) all he could say was "one is bigger". We noticed that the pricing for the food was really high, but decided to give it a chance. Cheapest pasta is $42 & salads are $30+. That's fine but it took a while for us to simply order & receive our drinks & food. Our conversation kept getting interrupted by hostesses that were yelling, running around & joking with the servers (who seemed visibly annoyed). Then we noticed the hostesses sat down at the bar to eat while periodically getting up to greet guests. While they were eating, we kept waiting. The food was good but it was not worth the price, especially for abysmal service. The side of lemon potatoes was so sour it ended up being inedible. The main dishes are very plain & don't come with any sides. We ordered a shareable steak for $138 & it was good but very plain - nothing special. This place is a hard pass, especially when there are dozens of incredible restaurants in Montréal.
5 stars all around! I went here for dinner & drinks with a group of friends & everything was amazing. The hostess was so fun & friendly & seated us right away. We ordered some drinks off of the wine & cocktail menu & all were very happy with them - I personally ordered the Rodi Mule & loved it. It was a good pomegranate twist on the classic Moscow mule. Our server Josh was very friendly too & gave us some great recommendations. We ended up ordering several dishes to share & everything was delicious but our favorites were the moussaka & the shrimp saganaki. To finish we tried the bougatsa dessert & it was so good, & plenty big to split between the five of us. On top of the great food & service the interior of the restaurant itself was beautiful. We arrived shortly after they opened for dinner but by the time we left it was crowded so it seems like a popular spot. Overall we were super impressed by the service, food, & drinks & would absolutely come back!
We spotted this restaurant while walking around & decided to give it a try for dinner, & we were truly blown away by the entire experience! To start, the atmosphere is stunning. Calming, cool & fun all at once. When we arrived we were greeted by the most welcoming & fun hostess, who not only let us take our pick of the tables but also took group photos for us & checked on us multiple times throughout the meal to make sure we were enjoying. Josh, our server was outstanding too! He made expert recommendations, & made our evening one for the books. The food itself was phenomenal - would highly recommend sharing lots of plates around your table so you get to taste it all!! We're already planning a trip back to Montreal solely so we can eat here again! Thanks to the whole team at Mama C's for making our girls night so special!!
All the touted restaurants were reserved for the evening so we walked to the western end of Rue de St Paul & we saw Mama C (which was not marked on our map of restaurants). It too was booked but we were offered seats at the bar which is usually our favorite being'ring side' to all the action & the personalized service which Antonni the bar tender with his wizardry mixing drink orders & Alima our server richly provided. Her recommendations suited our palates to the T including the delicious wine from Macedonia! to pair with my Mousaka while my wife ordered the grilled octopus. Both were delicious flavorful. Alima suggested the pita with a delicious dip of creamy dip flavored with a drizzle of juice from fish eggs as an appetizer - an unexpected treat. Servers like Alima with her easy efficient friendly manner & ready humor set the tone for a fine evening. Then the artfully designed ambience with the soft music all made our evening at Mama C a special time. Highly recommended.
The restaurant was beautiful. The service was incredible, Jason, Hugo & Ian took good care of us. They made a few recommendations & were very honest when they thought we might be ordering too much. Thank you guys, every was spot on with the dishes! Definitely
Recently, my friends & I had the pleasure of dining at a new Greek restaurant nestled in the heart of Old Montreal, right under a famous hotel. From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped by the restaurant's stunning decor & vibrant atmosphere. The combination of traditional Greek elements & modern design created an inviting space that truly set the stage for an enjoyable evening. The service was top-notch throughout our visit. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, & eager to share recommendations, which added a personal touch to our dining experience. It's always nice when the staff genuinely care about making your meal memorable. As for the menu, while there were several enticing options to choose from, we did find ourselves wishing for a broader selection typical of a Greek restaurant. Unfortunately, some of the dishes we had our hearts set on were unavailable that night, which was a slight disappointment. Nonetheless, the food we did order was well-prepared & flavorful, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of Greece. While we can't wait to return & explore more of the menu, we did find the prices to be on the high side, which might make frequent visits a little challenging. However, the combination of the enchanting atmosphere, attentive service, & delicious food makes it a worthwhile experience for special occasions or a delightful night out in Old Montreal. Overall, I highly recommend giving this restaurant a visit. With its charming ambiance & great service, it has all the makings of a promising new spot in the city!
