This wasn't our first visit to Kam Fung, as it has become a go-to spot for our family. We recently visited to celebrate Chinese New Year & opted for the 6-person set menu.
It was an impressive spread that included:
?Soup of the Day
?Steamed Chicken & Steamed Fish (both incredibly fresh)
?Braised Eggplant with pork & shrimp
?Sautéed Vegetables
?Filet Mignon à l'Orange
?Fried Lobster (the standout highlight!)
?Every dish was expertly prepared & packed with flavor. One thing to note is that the portions are very generous, making it excellent value for a group.
?Despite the holiday rush, the service was attentive & professional. The staff was proactive, frequently refilling our water & checking in to see if we needed anything else. It is always a pleasure to dine here, & we look forward to our next visit!
Good place to experience Chinese American cuisine. I like the large round table, we were 12 & can have conversation.
Food was ok, some dishes better than others.
I liked the eggplants, the Shanghai noodles, the dim sum.
Broccoli & beef so so, the fish so so.
Average was good we had a good time.
Just what you expect from a cantonese dim sum place 🥰🥰🥰
The ladies are so nice
Saw them deal with this angry mandarin mainland chinese dude in such a graceful way. They deserve all the tips 🌹
Reviewing Kam Fung Brossard is similar to going to the beach looking for waves to surf on. You never know what you're going to get.
Throughout my years of dining there, I've eaten the best & worst chinese food ever cooked there as well as experienced the best (waiters being very helpful to us) & worst service ever (chasing after waiters).
First of all, I highly recommend AVOIDING THIS PLACE ON THE WEEKEND. It struggles hard to cover the size of the dining room.
If there are any other tips the owners would like to share with me in order to have a consistently pleasant experience, I'm all ears.
A really good Chinese brunch buffet, the food is good & the service is also good. I would recommend to try at least once!
2025-05-05: Much better now!
Dim Sum: food is good! Service is fast!
2024-05-29: a little bit of improvement, but I can't find the chinese wok taste here! The big chef has retired & the new one is still learning.
2023-09-01: The biggest chinese reception restaurant in South Shore (Brossard). But, food is no longer as good as it used to be.
Good, authentic chinese food. Reasonable prices. Huge variety. Good service.
Nice place. We went for dimsum. It is a very big place & seems to be popular with the local Chinese. Food was good. Cannot speak to cost since we were a guest.
Honestly it was the best Chinese food I've had in a long time, everything was very tasty, flavourful & nice size portions
Ça a l'air bon ! ENGLISH VERSION... I looked at the photos & it appealed to me. It seemed like a real Chinese restaurant worthy of the name. I had also seen the show "Curieux Bégin". In short, I couldn't wait. What a desappointment. I wanted to try food I've never had because I wanted to eat REAL authentic food. I want to try mushroom soup & I was advised against it. Too long, I am told; Well, I want to try a Yu Djian style pork dish (not sure of the name)....I'm told that according to her it's so-so.....in short, I end up with a sour soup & spicy & another pork dish with XO sauce....I also have spicy garlic eggplant. Next to us, a large table of Chinese people are eating. They are served in large serving dishes. It looks good ! Our dishes arrived, my wife had the Cantonese lobster, & all these dishes were in black plastic dishes....soup included! Unbelievable ! An hour wait in total & everywhere. My pork was actually served with broccoli in such large pieces that you had to cut it into several smaller pieces before eating it; the eggplants were good but that was all he had; no other vegetables (onions, carrots, etc.) The lobster was OK but nothing more. The soup was good but served in a transparent plastic dish. In short, the whole thing gave me the impression that we had come for a take-out, & that they were in a hurry to see us leave. Meanwhile, our friends at the main table were served properly. How can you be so poorly served? I had the impression that we were the lackeys of the big table & that it was therefore normal that we could not eat in good conditions. Shame & humiliation. Never again. I strongly advise against this restaurant. They serve musketeers' food there, treating you like their lackeys. They won't see me there anymore!
I loved it. All your heart co.tent good chinese food authentic. The eggplant dish is very good. Moderate pricing.
Food came at different times but otherwise the portions are huge for a good price & the taste of the food is always amazing. Good for a group of people to share tasty chinese food.
The quality that you expect from a large size Chinese restaurant. Servers are not rude but they are not there to small talk & make you feel welcome, unless you know them. All business. Dinning area is generic & typical of Chinese banquet style restaurant. Washrooms are also your typical stinky bathrooms. I wished that the quality of the food was more consistent though. Sometimes good, sometimes really not that great. That is when I would prefer a hot bowl of phở at the local phở...yet we return to Kam Fung because it has been around for so long.
The place is fine for what it is, with the lone exception that the price is great. I rate the place 3 stars because it is ordinary in everything. The atmosphere is like dining in a warehouse. The waiters are constantly enquiring about what we want, making me feel rushed & like a number. That's the concept of a dim sum, sure, but still... food was OK but for having eaten a good bit of Chinese food all over the world, & it's not great. The one dish I liked was The hot & sour soup.
The food is delicious but the place is very loud & the staff is more stoïc than westerners are used to. They don't really smile but they still do their job fine. You may have to get them to repeat themselves here & there because of the noise around. It's a very typical (true) chinese place based on my experience.
Cheap in groups & serve decent quality authentic Asian cuisine. The room is exquisite, but the TV broadcast Chinese ad, & there's no music. When we arrived, there was even some power tool going strong & loud behind curtains, not very welcoming.
