We had an excellent evening at Le Serpent in Montreal. From start to finish, everything was outstanding.
We were served by Mia, who was incredibly nice, kind, charming, & always smiling. She had a wonderful attitude & treated us exceptionally well throughout the evening. She was patient, explained the wines very well, & took the time to explain each dish to us, which really helped us make the right choices.
The service was excellent. The food arrived very quickly & at a perfect pace, while still allowing us to take our time & enjoy the evening. Everything was brought out together & the timing was very well managed.
As for the food, everything we ordered was excellent. We started with the zucchini flowers, oysters, & foie gras. For our mains, we had the bison with spanakopita, the lobster risotto, & the spicy spaghetti. For dessert, we had the tarte à la pêche, the parfait au chocolat, & the ricotta with strawberry & raspberry. Every single dish was delicious.
Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, both for the food & the service. A special thank you to Mia for making our evening even more enjoyable. We would most definitely come back & highly recommend Le Serpent.
Our bartender, Vicky, gave us wonderful suggestions for our appetizers & entrees. We had the Foie Gras-it was so good, we ordered another! Dinner was the Buccatini pasta & lobster risotto! Both were fabulous!
One of our favorite restaurants to visit every year. Nails the atmosphere, great staff who are attentive, organized, & friendly without being too much. & the food is exceptional. Best risotto of my life, & fresh pasta that competes with the best.
I'm so glad I overcame my hesitation to visit this restaurant based on some of the other reviews. Our server Laure was excellent, & the atmosphere was warm, curious, & beautiful. The food was delicious, very fresh, & unique. I don't always order duck for risk of it being too rubbery but their magret de canard might have been one of the most tender & well-cooked pieces of meat I've ever had. The risotto was so tasty & had a sort of citrusy sweetness that kept it from being too cloying. Highly recommend this restaurant for an intimate occasion needing a little boost of ambiance.
Best restaurant we ate at in Montreal. My husband had the duck breast & he said it was one of the best things he's ever eaten. The server went above & beyond for our family. My only nit to pick was there was only one scallop in the scallop risotto...but definitely recommend to other foodies!
We had a strange experience at le serpent. They received us very well & took us to our table without any delays. We were not really hungry so we decided to share. Tje waiter came & was very friendly & nice. She took our order & someone else brought the first course. But it was coordinated with our waiter so when this person brought us the first course, she showed up & brought an additional plate so we could easily share. The octopus was great but veeeery small portion. Then we asked for a risotto that was also good, not great, we come from an italian family & really have had great rissottos. The waiter againg came to our table & was very friendly. But when the time of the dessert came she disappiered. I mean she was in other tables but never came back to ours. Someone else did. That change was strange because she was doing great & it was almost at the end of the meal. In summary, food was good, not great, service until that change was great, the change made it good, & the plave was a little loud. I would comeback anyway.
Very good & in a good location in Montreal. Special appetizer asparagus was outstanding - as was the burrata beef tartare appetizer. Mains Risotto & Venison were good too but the appetizers really shined.
