I've been visiting Le Cartet for years, often choosing it for brunch or lunch due to its proximity to my office. It used to be a reliable spot with good food & coffee. However, my recent experiences have been disappointing.
On my latest visit, I ordered a salmon bagel, expecting a satisfying meal. Instead, I received a dry bagel with four minuscule slices of salmon( about 20g ) & a smear of cream cheese. This underwhelming dish cost me $20 before tax. Adding two lemonades & a coffee brought my total to $58, excluding tax & tip. For such a price, the portion & quality were unacceptable.
While the staff remains friendly & welcoming, providing service with a smile, it doesn't compensate for the declining food quality & inflated prices. It's disheartening to see a place that once offered value & quality now fall short on both fronts.
In the past, dishes like Le Canton were enjoyable, but given the recent downturn, I'm hesitant to return. It's unfortunate to witness such a decline in a place that once held promise.Voir plus

In the restaurant, the sense of touch, vision, taste, & smell are all labeled with elegance. There is both a sense of formal ritual & a psychological comfort zone. The food tastes great!
The dish'canton' is great, with large pieces of meat filling the bottom of the pot, which is absolutely full. The duck Benedict is a little sweet because of the caramelized red onions. If you are not used to it, be mindful!
Reservations are not available on weekends, you can only queue up. Arrive before 11 am & there will be a seat. Possibly queue up after that.(2024)Voir plus
This cozy brunch spot was a delight! We had no trouble getting a table around 10:30/11 on a Sunday, & the service was so warm & welcoming. The eggs benny (with duck) & Santé were absolutely delicious with good portions.
The pancakes we ordered as a side, unfortunately, didn't live up to the rest of the meal-they were a bit dry & thin, & it was a bummer to pay extra for maple syrup & berry coulis.
However, the homemade lemonade & blood orange mimosa were delicious.

J'ai adoré le service hyper personnalisé, le café était fantastique, le serveur impeccable & la cuisine respecte les intolérances alimentaires au maximum. Étant intolérant au gluten & au lactose, j'ai eu droit à un grilled cheese au porc effiloché d'un goût exceptionnel. The Lac Brome (duck confit eggs benedict) was delicious. The duck & the orange hollandaise was the perfevt pairing. The yolks were perfectly runny. I also got the breakfast martini which had a nice cinnamon & maple flavour to it. Almost reminded me of an egg nog.
The service was also super friendly & fast. Our server was always smiling. There are a lot of fancy places in Old Montreal. This one felt friendly & cozy, yet maintained its upscale nature.Voir plus
