The Canton dish served in a skillet was like a warm hug. What a beautiful first breakfast to have in Canada. The ham, bacon, beans, roast potatoes & even the toast were scrumptious. The lovely friendly staff served me with a smile & were very kind.
Order Canton for brunch: you won't regret it. White Mocha on the side.
While the food here is decent, the bustling tourist district comes at a premium, reflected not just in the prices but in the experience.
The toast served with Canton was not warm & soft, & the avocado on toast, pre-packaged rather than freshly mashed, fell short of expectations. Despite these, the charming ambiance of the place still manages to make the visit worthwhile.
Used to be a regular there (at least once a week). Very disappointed with both the service & the food today. Was told they were quite busy & our food would take 30 mins. We agreed. It took over an hour to get our food. The French server (didn't get her name) was unfriendly, offputting & looked overwhelmed. My dish (canton) arrived burnt in the skillet. Maybe it was just a bad day at the restaurant - I'll give it one more try otherwise I'll just go somewhere else going forward.
Tried the Canton dish for brunch. A hearty meal that hit the spot.
I've been visiting Le Cartet for years, often choosing it for brunch or lunch due to its proximity to my office. It used to be a reliable spot with good food & coffee. However, my recent experiences have been disappointing.
On my latest visit, I ordered a salmon bagel, expecting a satisfying meal. Instead, I received a dry bagel with four minuscule slices of salmon( about 20g ) & a smear of cream cheese. This underwhelming dish cost me $20 before tax. Adding two lemonades & a coffee brought my total to $58, excluding tax & tip. For such a price, the portion & quality were unacceptable.
While the staff remains friendly & welcoming, providing service with a smile, it doesn't compensate for the declining food quality & inflated prices. It's disheartening to see a place that once offered value & quality now fall short on both fronts.
In the past, dishes like Le Canton were enjoyable, but given the recent downturn, I'm hesitant to return. It's unfortunate to witness such a decline in a place that once held promise.
Fortunately, it still tastes the same as I remember. The moment I took a bite, the unchanging deliciousness was a warm & reassuring presence in this unpredictable era.(May 2025)
In the restaurant, the sense of touch, vision, taste, & smell are all labeled with elegance. There is both a sense of formal ritual & a psychological comfort zone. The food tastes great!
The dish'canton' is great, with large pieces of meat filling the bottom of the pot, which is absolutely full. The duck Benedict is a little sweet because of the caramelized red onions. If you are not used to it, be mindful!
Reservations are not available on weekends, you can only queue up. Arrive before 11 am & there will be a seat. Possibly queue up after that.(2024)
Staff are bilingual & very nice Canton is very worth the money - lots of high quality flavorful meat, beans are very good. Dish was slightly on the saltier side
We had an excellent brunch at Le Cartet Resto Boutique. We ordered the CANTON, New York-style pancakes, & scrambled eggs - all of which were delicious! Their coffee & smoothies were also fantastic. Despite being Labor Day, the wait was only around 15 minutes, which was quite reasonable. The service was great, & we appreciated the option of both two-person tables & larger communal seating. The attached grocery store is a nice touch, offering pasta & various other items for purchase. A wonderful spot for a relaxed brunch with great food & service! Highly recommended.
Trop bon, & le personnel est trop sympa ! N'hésitez pas à passer par là si vous cherchez un bon brunch (le "canton" est excellent) ou un lait au matcha (version végétale possible) rafraîchissant :)
After so many year visiting Montreal, here is still one of my favor place to go for brunch. I had my usual "Canton" dish with fill with meat & tasty beans. The dark mocca with orange was a new try for me & I did not taste any orange aroma on it. Might as well go for regular dark mocca. Very attentive service & I enjoy the visit.
"Outstanding ambiance, top-notch food quality, & excellent service. We sampled both the Canton & Toscan brunch plates, & they were both exceptional, though personally, I preferred the Canton. Each plate was generously portioned. A minor note: the ham included in some dishes is more like pulled meat than traditional sliced ham, which I enjoyed but my friend found the aroma too meaty. Our server, Benjamin, was incredibly attentive & friendly, ensuring our dining experience was enjoyable. Don't forget to explore the side menu for additional options. I'll definitely be returning & recommending it to others."
Recommended for brunch, very nice atmosphere, good coffee & great location to take a walk after ... Le Canton on the menu satisfied the cave man hunger i had 🥓🥓🍗🍗
The Canton dish was amazing, especially the bacon. Service was great as well.
Highly recommend. Excellent breakfast, we got there just before the rush. Canton breakfast skillet was excellent & the Brunch Nordique was delicious, such great flavors, I swapped the bagel for country toast which was perfect. All the food looked amazing. Next time pancakes!!!
