My date & I visited for the Valentine's Day five-course tasting menu, & unfortunately, the evening fell well below expectations. While each dish was visually refined & thoughtfully plated, the execution & flavor composition were inconsistent &, at times, misguided.
French cuisine is rooted in balance, clarity, & intention-each element on the plate should serve a defined purpose. Instead, several courses felt unfocused, with competing flavors that overwhelmed rather than complemented one another. The risotto was notably undercooked & lacked proper emulsification, resulting in a thin, watery texture rather than the expected creamy cohesion. The duck breast, which should have been rendered crisp on the skin & served at a precise medium-rare, arrived undercooked & texturally unrefined.
The final course-traditionally an opportunity to reset & conclude the meal with elegance-was similarly disappointing. Rather than offering a clean, harmonious finish, the dessert presented an excess of competing flavors that muddled the palate instead of refreshing it. For a prix-fixe Valentine's menu, one expects precision, balance, & memorability; regrettably, this experience delivered none of the above.
Really lovely French restaurant! Showcases classic French dishes prepared with careful attention to flavor & technique. From the appetizers to the mains & desserts, everything is well-executed. The sauces are rich, the proteins are cooked perfectly, & the ingredients taste fresh. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, & the staff are welcoming & knowledgeable. Great place for a date night or a special dinner with friends. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality & ambiance make it worthwhile.
Delicious French fine dining, I enjoyed the Hiramasa sashimi, Duck Confit Cromesquis, Slow Cooked Lamb with Nantes style vegetables, & the Molten Hazelnut & Maple Cake. It was quite the culinary experience I had when tasting these dishes. Service was awesome & the waiter was very attentive.

The cuisine was outstanding. Each dish was beautifully plated & executed with remarkable precision, balancing bold flavors with classic French technique. Every course felt thoughtful & elevated, showcasing both creativity & respect for tradition. The quality of ingredients & attention to detail were evident in every bite. The service was equally impressive: professional, warm, & perfectly paced. The staff demonstrated deep knowledge of the menu & wine pairings while maintaining a relaxed & welcoming atmosphere. You felt cared for without ever feeling rushed or overwhelmed.Le Boulevardier sets a very high standard for fine dining in Montreal. It delivers excellence across food, service, & it is absolutely a destination restaurant. Highly recommended.
This was a restaurant in a hotel. I never think of good restaurants being in a hotel, but Montreal has a number of exceptional ones, this being one of them. French olfood oriented menu with just the right sized serving portion. Very good wine list with a very attentive sommelier. We had a table that overlooked the street & the restaurant was relatively quiet so that you could easily converse across the table.
Fantastic ambiance in a beautifully designed space. Attentive & informed servers & management. Excellent food & wine options with culinary flare & a uniquely Québécois take on classic French fare. Highly recommended!
Impressive dining experience. In-house French sommelier was very sweet. Food was cooked well & presented beautifully, although with a bit of extra salt will make it even better. Nice decor & view. Will re-visit.
lovely French restaurant if a little loud at lunch. The beef tartare was superb. Nice wine list too. Great for entertaining clients.
Amazing place, the food was delightful & Jordane the sommelier took great care of us suggesting a french wine called Laroche vineuse, the pairing was fantastic. I definitely recommend.
Great food, French style, & a very nice selection of cocktails & wine. Staff is friendly
Wonderful vibe & truly tremendous service. We can't say enough about Emily! Thank you everyone! Lobster French toast was an amazing appetizer!
If you are looking for French fine dining, you can try this place but honestly the food was average & extremely overpriced. Our server was good though.
Ordered a tasting menu 6 courses. Sophisticated. Flavorful. Classic French plating Sweat fresh crab meat. Calamari perfect tender loverly dressing but croutons felt bit hard not crunchy. Perfect Lobster risotto. Very flavorful rabit saddle & plum & just the right salt. Good cheese plate average age / dryness / good flavor. Amazing gelato dessert I don't understand why utensils were not changed between dishes. Plating is good & classic but suggest to elevate a bit since many like it wow on photo. Restaurant had a high end setting. Nice decor / lighting / color scheme. Nice comfort bench Host & server show welcome / smile. Server seems mix experience. I was seated & there is no one came to us for approx 10 min maybe less I didn't time. Just a greeting is all we needed if you are busy. I asked for a change of table windows seat & got the okay from the host. There is missed of communication where other reply windows seating was reserved I had only tap water & no wine. I felt I was pushed for bottle water. Reminded second time to get me slice of lemon. When refill my water I was asked bottle water again. This show server doesn't remember what I ordered in such a high end setup. At least they serve dishes on the serving side. Server did not brief on dishes being served. It is often a nice touch to tell guess what's on your plate.
Food was absolutely amazing. For starter we had oysters & the lobster french toast - both excellent. For main I had the Beef Tenderloin topped with Foie Gras & it was the best tenderloin I've had anywhere. I think the Foie Gras really just took it to the next level & that's not a typically available steak topping where I'm from. The servers were all friendly & very helpful & we needed some help because we didn't speak much French. Definitely would recommend & I wished we had gone here earlier in our trip so we could go again.
What a lovely evening at this delightful restaurant in the Hotel St Germaine in Montreal. Four of us chose different meals from the menu & we were all delighted. Rack of lamb, lobster French toast, mushroom ravioli, lobster risotto...all were uniquely presented & delicious! Excellent service. Outstanding desserts ( one with mushroom powder that was to die for!). This restaurant is underutilized which is a shame. One of the best meals we have had in Montreal. Highly recommend!
Le Boulevardier offers fusion dining experience, exceptional service, & great atmosphere... To those who are able find it on the second floor of the hotel. The staff is knowledgeable & friendly , & the service was attentive. We ordered a rabbit with foie gras & plums, & a risotto. Both dishes were full of flavors & looked wonderful. You can taste the essence of French & Italian cuisine. We couldn't leave without dessert - & both of them were fabulous, with an inventive & artistic mix of flavors & colors. Bravo!
The best meal we had in Montreal (& Canada). The bartender created a fine cocktail for the week, which is excellent. Dining, the seafood starter was large & very good, but the main dishes really stepped out. I had the walleye special that is high gastro art. My companion had the more traditional tenderloin with foie gras, which was extremely tender & perfectly cooked. Excellent! The location, building, view & decor are among the best in the McGill/downtown area. Service is excellent, with the Somm offering great french matches to the dishes. Highly recommended!
