Overall, La Bête À Pain is celebrated for excellent pastries and breads, with standouts like croissants, pistachio éclair, avocado toast, and breakfast sandwiches; the cafe's warm, inviting atmosphere and Griffintown location are repeatedly praised, making it a beloved spot for many. Yet experiences are uneven: coffee is sometimes described as underwhelming or too hot, pastries and breads occasionally vary in size or freshness, and service ranges from friendly and efficient to slow, terse, or distracted, especially during busy periods. Some reviews note improvements after a change of baker and more sympathetic service, while others regret diminished value or inconsistent pacing and price. All in all, it reads as a place with strong offerings that can feel like a hidden gem when things align, but with notable caveats about consistency and crowd timing.
Used to come here every weekend to work. Now with their new set up you don't have access to an electrical outlet to charge your computer. Too bad but wont be coming back

Best baked good & coffee, but stay clear from their foods in their fridge! I took the eggplant lasagna, which had no sauce, barely any cheese & it was just pasta. The lox salmon salad was a huge bed of split peas & half of a hard boiled egg! So stick to their coffee & baked goods only, & it should be fine!
Leur slogan good food good mood va a merveille avec l'endroit.
Chocolatines 10/10 👨🏻🍳🤌🏼(chef's kiss)

A truly don't understand how this is anything more than the most overrated bakery in the city. I give 2 starts instead of 1 because the service was excellent Pastries were bland & TINY Coffee tastes like mud Prices are 50% higher than the average in the city It's in Griffintown which is the most overrated part of the city anyway ... terribly dissappointed
I recently visited La Bête a Pain, Breakfast was amazing... What a nice experience the staff were so polite, the food here is outstanding. & the bread so fresh! I came across a tomato sauce, Les Aliments Amica, it was delicious with fresh ingredients which is very important for myself & family! My kids also loved it. It's such a convenient option when you want a tasty sauce without the hassle of making it from scratch. I highly recommend it. Will be coming back for more!

Visiting La Bête à Pain for the first time, I instantly fell in love with the cozy atmosphere & enjoyed a delicious breakfast. A big thanks to the friendly staff for their warm & welcoming demeanor.
Coffee & croissants are great. I wish I read reviews before ordering the banh mi though. It smelled badly & it was not tasting good, not worth $17 at all.
