Le Kyo Bar Japonais offre une ambiance vivante et chic dans le Vieux-Montréal, où des plats japonais authentiques et frais sont servis avec soin et présentation soignée. Le menu propose un large éventail de sushis et sashimis, accompagnés de plats à partager tels que gyoza wagyu, takoyaki et udon, et des menus dégustation appréciés. Le service est largement salué pour sa gentillesse et sa connaissance du menu, avec des conseils sur les accords et la gestion des allergies. Bien que certains trouvent les prix élevés et l'endroit assez animé, l'expérience globale est décrite comme mémorable et idéale pour une occasion spéciale ou une sortie entre amis, avec réservation recommandée les soirs bien fréquentés.
Mis à part les délicieux cocktails, les makis Yami Yami super frais & des dumplings au poulet très savoureux; le service était excellent. Merci à William & Brooke d'avoir rendu cette expérience accueillante dès notre arrivée. La musique de fond assez intemporelle ne nous empêchait pas du tout d'avoir de belles discutions pendant notre soirée.
Je recommande 100% d'aller visiter & de déguster leur menu qui en a pour tous les goûts; avec le bonus d'être entourés de la belle ambiance du Vieux-Port de Montréal. Ajoutez-le à votre'To do list' personnelle!!
L'expérience est excellente du début à la fin. L'ambiance est vraiment belle, tamisée, chic sans être prétentieuse, avec un vibe izakaya moderne qui fit parfaitement avec le Vieux-Port. Les sushis étaient super frais & les plats bien présentés. Mais ce qui a vraiment élevé la soirée, c'est le service. Notre serveur William était exceptionnel, super attentionné, connaissait parfaitement le menu & prenait le temps de faire des recommandations sans jamais pousser quoi que ce soit. Il avait le bon équilibre entre professionnalisme & côté chaleureux, ce qui a rendu l'expérience vraiment mémorable. On sentait qu'il voulait sincèrement qu'on passe une bonne soirée, & ça devient rare dans les restos plus achalandés du Vieux-Montréal. C'est définitivement une place où je retournerais autant pour la nourriture que pour l'accueil.

A cute Japanese restaurant in a very ideal location in Montreal! I hosted a big bachelorette dinner here with 15 girls, Kyo was very easy to communicate with, & they offered multiple menu options at varying reasonable price points. I really appreciate the ease of booking & how I didn't have to think about what people were going to order. One hiccup was that I had indicated ahead of time that one of the guests had a seafood allergy, which I understand can be difficult for Japanese restaurant. I had expected them to tailor the $70 menu to her, however, they let us know that it was gonna be difficult & instead asked her to pick from the à la carte menu. She had no problem with this, but I felt bad & didn't want her to think that I had an indicated ahead of time of her dietary restriction.
Overall, the meal was good. It was a little bit slow to start coming out. I think our total dining time was over two hours which was fine because we were celebrating something but for the first 30 minutes I feel like no food came out. A little bit on the salty side, but I enjoyed every dish. For the price point I think it was perfect.
I would recommend this for a group dinner again. The high top tables weren't the most comfortable for such a large group as we were essentially split in two, but for a group of 6-8 it would be perfect!
Wonderful Japanese restaurant. Got here late (~10:15pm). Kitchen closes at 10:30pm, so perfect for a late dinner. Maki platter was excellent. Recommend having it with their warm Sake. Atmosphere was cozy & elegant.

Parking is a bit of an issue but it is always the case in the old port of Montreal, as a suggestion- just keep in driving on Saint-Antoine west to the court parking lot...only a few steps away .

Unbelievable food, service, & atmosphere. I was attending a conference in Montreal & happened upon this restaurant & I was very grateful that I did. One of the best food experiences I have ever had! I deferred the food recommendations to Kathy & she did not disappoint with both her selections & service.
The first recommendation was the Gindara Saikyo Yaki, which was absolutely outstanding. I would visit Montreal from Ohio just to eat this dish.
Next was the Unagi roll… also outstanding. Packed with lots of ginger on the side, which I appreciate.
Last was the Tataki Maguro. Amazing. You absolutely have to try it. Perfect amount of spicy & crunchy, packed with flavor.
I am very grateful to have happened upon Kyo. I cannot recommend it highly enough. My compliments to the chef & the entire team for an incredible experience. Thank you for your care in cultivating such incredible dishes in a fun, enjoyable environment. & a special thank you to Kathy who hit a home run with her suggestions!

Très belle expérience au Kyo Bar japonais ! Les plats étaient vraiment délicieux : les makis étaient très bons, & surtout les rouleaux de printemps, extrêmement frais & excellents. Les gyozas étaient également une réussite, les calamars egalement avec une panure très fine & savoureuse. On sent une très bonne idée & un vrai soin dans la cuisine. L'ambiance est un peu bruyante, mais cela reste tout à fait acceptable. Une adresse à recommander !
Je suis allé au Kyo Bar Japonais avec un groupe d'amis & j'ai vraiment adoré l'expérience du début à la fin.
Nous y sommes allés samedi dernier sans réservation &, malgré l'achalandage, nous avons réussi à avoir une place, ce qui a très bien commencé la soirée !
L'ambiance est vraiment réussie, chic, chaleureuse & bien équilibrée. C'est l'endroit parfait pour passer une belle soirée entre amis, dans un cadre élégant & agréable.
& que dire du service ! Le service était impeccable! Notre serveur, William, était super attentionné, agréable & connaissait parfaitement son menu & prenait le temps de bien nous expliquer les assiettes. Ses recommandations étaient excellentes & ont vraiment ajouté à l'expérience.
Côté nourriture, rien à redire tout était excellent. Nous avons partagé plusieurs plats & chaque bouchée était fraîche, savoureuse & bien présentée. On voit clairement la qualité & le soin apporté aux plats.
Une expérience complète qu'on recommande sans hésiter. On en reparle encore dans notre groupe d'amis & c'est certain qu'on va y retourner !
This place is absolutely incredible. The food is genuinely authentic - fresh, refined, & full of perfectly balanced flavors. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted. The cocktails were on another level too.
After three years in Toronto, I can honestly say this is the first time I've experienced something that feels like a true gastronomic escape.
Beautiful interior, great atmosphere, & very professional, attentive staff. I highly recommend it to anyone who truly appreciates Japanese cuisine.
I had the Gourmand special & thoroughly enjoyed it. A prix fixe meal, it included an appetizer, soup, & two mains (one grilled entree & one sashimi/sushi entree). The food was superb, flavourful, & while not an overly large amount of food, it was very satisfying. The menu had an extensive selection of standard izakaya entrees as well as sashimi/sushi offerings.
The service was attentive, the staff were friendly, & the food came promptly but not too soon. Overall, I found no fault with reservation. I would strongly recommend a reservation though as the place really filled fast after about 7:00 PM.

Had an amazing experience at Kyo Bar Japanois! We ordered the poke bowls & they were absolutely delicious-super fresh, flavorful, & beautifully presented. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients.
The service was outstanding as well. The staff were friendly, attentive, & made sure we had everything we needed. The ambiance is also a great vibe-perfect for a night out or even a casual dinner.
Highly recommend & will definitely be coming back!

Absolutely delicious food! Im vegan & they had plenty of options for me to enjoy & they were so good. My non-vegan friends raved about their plates as well. Amazing service & atmosphere. Highly recommend!
I highly recommend! There's a lot of variety & interesting tastes, the'yuhi roll' was by far my favorite. Not only was the food & ambiance very pleasant, but the service was fantastic too, thank you to our server Kathy for giving us an amazing night!

We went for Valentine's Day & it was absolutely wonderful.
We chose the Valentine's tasting menu & every single course was beautifully presented & full of flavor. From the oysters & sashimi to the perfectly cooked lamb & the heart-shaped dessert, everything felt thoughtfully curated for the occasion. The presentation was stunning, elegant, artistic, & romantic, truly worthy of a special night.
The ambiance was warm & intimate, & the little details (like the rose on the table) made the evening feel even more special. The service was attentive & professional without being intrusive, which made the experience smooth & enjoyable.
It was the perfect place to celebrate Valentine's Day. We left impressed & will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend for a date night or any special occasion.
A great restaurant with some fantastic dishes & beers! Ed, Jacob, & Jesse all served us throughout the night & they were fantastic to speak to as they provided great recommendations for drink & food, along with great conversation.
The beers being opened tableside & poured was a level of service I haven't experienced in quite some time from a restaurant. It was greatly appreciated. Being a vegetarian, Jacob recommended the Yami Yami roll that was one of the best sushi dishes I have ever had, hands down. The spicy edamame, miso soup, & vegetarian dumplings were all amazing choices as well. They weren't overfilling or overpowering in quantity & seasoning, respectively.
The Hitachino beers were all so good & a great way to compliment the dishes if you enjoy beer with distinct flavor profiles. Normally, I'm only used to Sapporo as my home province has very little offering in the way of Japanese beer. The Hito White, Lager, Damidami, & Red Rice were all so unique but complimentary to the food. The taste was quite noticeable but subtle at the same time; each one was in its own way fantastic. I cannot emphasize enough how well they paired with the food that was served. I truly respect a restaurant that can elevate the experience by pairing drinks so effectively with the food.
The entire restaurant is beautifully laid out. It felt like the prohibition met rustic-modern, & had a baby. It really provided a wonderful atmosphere to spend the evening so close to attractions like the Notre Dame Cathedral & La Grande Roue!
