Best sushi in Montreal. everything was amazing ! sushi is fresh , appetizers are delish, & the service was incredible. super cute atmosphere & great recommendations. appreciated that they take allergies so seriously . Kyo Bar Japonais is easily one of the best dining experiences in Montreal. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is elegant, vibrant, & welcoming. Every dish is beautifully presented, but what truly makes this restaurant special is the talent & passion coming from the kitchen.
The food is the real star of Kyo. Every plate reflects incredible creativity, precision, & attention to detail. You can tell that nothing leaves the kitchen unless it's perfect. The balance of flavors, the freshness of the ingredients, & the presentation are all at a Michelin-level standard.
The sushi is among the best I've ever had, & the hot dishes are equally impressive. If you're visiting, I highly recommend trying the tasting menu-it showcases the chef's vision & the team's exceptional craftsmanship.
The service is warm, professional, & knowledgeable, making the entire experience unforgettable. Kyo Bar Japonais is more than just a restaurant; it's a culinary experience that every food lover should have at least once. I can't wait to come back.

William was fabulous. I am celiac & he helped us navigate the menu. Brought me tamari instead of soy sauce. Fish VERY FRESH. Highly recommend. Ate like a Queen.
5 stars across the board, must eat in Montreal! Simon our server was excellent & the sashimi was so fresh! Everything is done super intentionally, down to the tableware. Truly an amazing experience well worth the price point!
The Gindara Saikyo Yaki (black cod marinated in white miso) was absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked - buttery, tender, & rich with flavour that melts in your mouth. The balance of the sweet miso, ginger, & slight char from the grill was flawless, with the asparagus, bok choy, & shiitake adding a fresh, well-rounded finish.
Every bite felt refined & intentional - easily one of the standout dishes I've ever had.
Combined with the overall experience at Kyo Bar Japonais, this dish alone makes it a must-visit.
