We went for Valentine's Day & it was absolutely wonderful.
We chose the Valentine's tasting menu & every single course was beautifully presented & full of flavor. From the oysters & sashimi to the perfectly cooked lamb & the heart-shaped dessert, everything felt thoughtfully curated for the occasion. The presentation was stunning, elegant, artistic, & romantic, truly worthy of a special night.
The ambiance was warm & intimate, & the little details (like the rose on the table) made the evening feel even more special. The service was attentive & professional without being intrusive, which made the experience smooth & enjoyable.
It was the perfect place to celebrate Valentine's Day. We left impressed & will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend for a date night or any special occasion.
Super endroit. Nouilles udon aux fruits de mer délicieuses quoi qu'un peu trop épicé. Dessert dispendieux & minuscule. Mais bien situé, bon service & ambiance très agréable.

Excellente expérience au restaurant Kyo ! La cuisine était sublime. Nous avons pris le menu dégustation à 120 $ - conseil : ne mangez rien avant, c'est très copieux. Les sushis & sashimis étaient délicieux, tout comme les dumplings dans leur sauce, les crevettes au caviar, la morue noire qui fond dans la bouche & le dernier plat (boeuf braisé avec queue de homard & légumes). C'était excellent, mais nous n'avions plus de place… nous avons même pris le dessert pour emporter !
Merci à Julien, notre serveur, pour son service attentionné & sympathique. Je recommande sans hésiter.

Le sashimi wow !!! Frais & fondant en bouche. Dessert au matcha moyen à mon gout, mais je ne suis pas un fan de matcha à la base, mon invité elle a adoré le dessert & son mocktail au matcha.
Mon Mocktail à la mangue était aussi excellent.
On nous a rempli plusieurs fois notre verre d'eau. Assez rare de nos jours!
Réservation à 19h30 table prête pour 19h20 & nous avons pu passé la soirée au complet sans stress de devoir quitter pour un autre service.
Seul point négatif est le froid lorsque la portes extérieure ouvre mais 90% des resto ont ce problème en hiver à Montréal.
J'avais indiqué une table tranquille & ma demande a été prise en compte.
Une petite erreur s'est glissée dans la facture mais a été immédiatement corrigée. En plus, suite à notre commentaire sur la morue, le serveur l'a enlevé de la facture. J'apprécie vraiment le geste & je reviendrai !!
I love dining out in Montreal. I think it's my favourite Canadian city for its dining scene. I can see why this place is so popular: really amazing location in a vibrant area, cool atmosphere, very personable & professional staff, always poppin with people. It is the cool place to be.
It has lots of great Japanese dishes. The noodle dishes were great, the wagyu beef dumplings were some of the best dumplings I've ever had. The desserts were outstanding.
But honestly I've tried a lot of sushi all over North America & the sushi here is very average. It was by no means the highlight of the meal.
But nonetheless, we enjoyed our evening & meal very much.

This is definitly my favorite sushi restaurant in the old port ! Always fresh & tasty, the staff is very helpful & nice ! We asked for special desserts for a special occasion, & everything was done perfectly. We also had some complicated dietary restrictions, & it was very well handled. If you don't know what to order, simply order the chef's special, you won't be disappointed! I highly recommend trying this amazing restaurant !
Absolutely incredible dining experience! Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor & expertly prepared. The karaage was a standout - perfectly crispy on the outside, tender & juicy inside, & full of rich, savory flavor.
The rainbow rolls were far from your average sushi rolls. These were exceptionally fresh & artfully crafted - a clear step above what you'd find in grocery stores or even many other Japanese restaurants.
I was especially surprised by the seaweed rolls with egg. At first glance, they might not be the most photogenic dish, but wow - they were unbelievably delicious. A perfect example of'don't judge a book by its cover.'
We ended the meal with mochi for dessert, which had the perfect balance of chewiness & sweetness - a light & satisfying finish.
Despite the place being crowded & busy, the servers were fairly attentive. They kindly opened our bottle of wine & offered a taste before pouring, which was a nice touch & showed great hospitality.
The atmosphere was lively & had a good vibe overall, though it did get quite loud due to the number of people - something to keep in mind if you're looking for a quiet dinner.
Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for creative, high-quality Japanese cuisine.
Reservation is a must.
This is a proper, somewhat fancy Japanese restaurant with excellent sashimi/sushi. I also enjoyed their shrimp tempura & beef gyoza - all excellent! Their coffee & tea were perfect, as well as desserts.
Bonne ambiance & bonne bouffe, malheureusement le service était mediocre. On a pris la commande de table de 6 personnes arrivée 15 minutes après nous malgré que nous soyons prêts & attendons pour commander. Ensuite les repas arrivent à 10 minutes d'intervale donc on attend & ça refroidi sur la table. Aucun retour sur la qualité, on finit & les assiettes vides restent plus de 30 minutes sur la table. On voulait un dessert mais personne ne vient nous voir donc on doit attirer l'attention de la serveuse pour avoir la facture, qui va arriver par dessus les assiettes vides toujours pas débarassées.

Went for an anniversary dinner while visiting montreal & the food was phenomenal! We got three dishes & loved all of them, especially the pork belly & katsu curry. The matcha sphere dessert was our favorite, so much so we went again a couple days later. They also gave us the yuzu doughnuts to celebrate which was very kind & while it wasn't something we were considering to order it was super tasty!
Super yummy & excellent service. Elizabeth was awesome at helping us feel welcome & teaching us more about sake, then helping us pick an absolutely divine bottle. We will be back! Thank you! The sushi & nigiri & desserts we ordered were all fantastic.
Nous avons passé une excellente soirée au Kyo. Tout était parfait, les sushis excellents, les desserts délicieux avec une mention spéciale pour les beignets. Merci beaucoup à Benjamin pour son service. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir.
Le dessert était succulent, vraiment c'est ce qui a « sauvé » la soirée. Les sushis sont biens, mais sans plus. Disons que j'ai mangé de meilleurs sushis ailleurs & pour le même prix ou moins cher. Quant au service, vraiment la serveuse n'a jamais pris un temps pour s'arrêter à notre table. Elle déposait les plats & repartait en nous disant bon appétit en marchant. Service ZÉRO attentionné.
j'ai été agréablement surpris par la qualité de la nourriture. Chaque plat était délicieux, avec une mention spéciale pour les cocktails, qui étaient excellents. Le dessert était également à la hauteur de nos attentes. Je recommande vivement cet endroit à tous ceux qui cherchent une expérience culinaire japonaise authentique. N'hésitez pas à y aller !
The quality of sashimi was fantastic, so great to have access to good sushi in Montreal. My kids ordered sushi via Uber eats which was really good so we decided to try in person seeing as even the delivery was good. The team were really friendly & helpful. We had the short ribs, pork belly, maguro tataki, assorted nigiri & some maki rolls (these weren't the superstars), we tried all the desserts & the warm beignets were the best 😍 the photos don't serve well as the lighting was dark, we definitely would come back if we were local! thanks for an amazing dinner!
Très bon service par Elisabeth! 💗 Bonne nourriture, mais riennà se pitcher dans les murs. Nous avons pris les Gyoza Wagyu, 2 rouleaux de sushis, tataki de thon (très frais) & beignets en dessert. La qualité des poissons est A1, mais niveau boeuf, je trouvais la qualité moindre (nous avions pris les sushi crabe épicé & c'était bien, ceux avec les sashimis de boeuf étaient difficiles à mastiquer). Les beignets sont un incontournable. Aussi, nous avons pis la dégustation de Whisky ainsi que de Sake. Super interessant. Ils offrent aussi la dégustation de Gin. On va y retourner c'est certain! :)
Delicious & fresh food, amazing desserts!! waitresses are kind & helpful, love the atmosphere for date night. The only disappointment was the oysters wasn't opened & cleaned properly I kept eating the shell pieces 🥲 vinaigrette was bomb tho!
