Welcome to Hana Korean Steak House, where Korean barbecue meets modern fine dining. In Montréal's Old Port.
Guided by Michelin-starred Chef Wongoo Joun, Hana redefines Korean flavours using premium ingredients. From Prime Beef +, with truffle, caviar, and refined Korean elements. Chefs and servers grill each cut tableside, creating an immersive and memorable experience.
At Hana, every detail is intentional, and every visit is an invitation to experience Korean steakhouse dining at its finest.
HANA Korean Steakhouse is described as an elegant setting with a refined vibe and a premium feel, where the meat is often praised for its quality, the chef's selections and pairings are well thought out, and service can be impeccable in some visits, especially during special occasions; however, several reviews point to uneven service including delays with cocktails and sides, having to flag staff repeatedly, and in some cases a lack of apology for the wait, which can leave diners with the impression that value does not always match the price. The tasting and butcher options are highlighted as offering interesting combinations and refined presentation, with meat cooked to impress in many orders, while others found certain cuts or courses underwhelming for the cost, and a few noted lingering issues during the early opening period such as coordination and longer wait times. The overall impression is that Hana has strong potential and memorable dining moments, particularly for celebratory dinners, but execution can vary and the experience may hinge on service timing and the day of the visit.
Even with a reservation (9pm), we wait for 50 minutes to get our table which is inacceptable for a high end restaurant. The meat & the quantity was good for the price but the quality of the service was not what I except for this type of restaurant. It was quite loud & the tables are big because of the bbq so not ideal for an intimate dinner. Overall, I would not recommend.
I had a great experience at Hana Korean Steakhouse. The food was fresh & high quality, especially the grilled meats, & everything was well presented. The atmosphere felt cozy & modern, & the service was friendly & attentive. I'd definitely go back.
I've been waiting for this place to open, & it was worth the wait! Incredible Korean steak house in Montreal, with excellent grill service from the servers. A perfect spot to celebrate a special day with someone you love. Highly recommended!!!

Hana Korean Steakhouse feels like a fusion of Okeya Kyujiro's top-tier omakase experience & Gyu-Kaku's grill-your-own-meat concept. They're both my favorite restaurants in Montreal & Hana offers a more premium take on Korean barbecue, while also featuring its own Omakase menu.
Hana is easily one of the most unique restaurant experiences you can find in Montreal & a very high recommend. Coming from someone that's visited a ton of restaurants across the city, if you're a fan of meat & simple but very tasty meals, this is a must to go.
I can't comment too much on whether the Korean part of the cuisine was authentic or not, but whatever the case is, it was absolutely delicious.
The staff & customer service was excellent as well. We were served by the floor manager that was not only managing reception & overseeing all the tables, but also serving us personally. We couldn't have asked for a better service & she did a fantastic job of accommodating us.
The restaurant has both a bar & normal table seating (I believe up to 6 per table) & the menu has three'categories' of options: a normal menu where you can order a set meal, an Omakase menu with a wide variety of tasting menu items & a fixed menu of a bunch of meat options (with side dishes). You can combine all of the above or add extras, but in all honesty, it's more then enough food if you took an appetizer & one of the above.
My only two small complaints:
- The dessert was a little disappointed as I was hoping we would get a premium/unique Korean dessert, but instead we got a simple scoop of ice cream that had a weird strong citrusy favor.
- The noise level at 7h PM on a Saturday was ok, but as the night continued, the rest of the guests got extremely loud. I wouldn't be shocked if the later crowd is more rambunctious, so time your visit in terms of what you're looking for. If you want a romantic evening, the earlier the best & I would avoid anything past 9h PM.
Finally, some reviewers mentioned slow service, but please note that this is NOT your traditional restaurant. The staff not only needs to wait tables, but also cook part of the meal live in front of you. It's completely normal that this experience will take a while, so don't expect a quick/cheap meal where you'll go in & out in less then an hour.
P.S.: I hope they open up for lunch in the future, as I'd pass by with coworkers or Saturday quite often!
First experience at Hana Korean Steakhouse & we had a blast! Our server, Oliver, was a very knowledgeable about the menu & funny which simply added to the experience. The food was phenomenal to say the least. Definitely recommend - we will be back!
We were a group of four & all our first time, our waiter was Olivier , kind & friendly & his recommendations were on point, ordered 3 entrees to share & ordered the Butcher's selection each, the Banchan'side dishes' were refillable which was really nice! To be honest we were surprisingly full at the end of the experience

Food was good but service was terrible. For example receiving our cocktails after starters after following up many times, & they arrived with the staff not even saying sorry for the delay. By then the meat had started cooking so we were ready for wine. Had to get the attention of waiters every time we wanted something & had to ask repeatedly as they seemed to always forget. High prices (400$+ for 2 persons), would expect outstanding service.
I had such high hopes for this restaurant! But sadly was disappointed..
Service was very good ! Nice decor & vibe.
Enjoyed the cocktails but not the food.
We had the chefs selection, & I was VERY unimpressed with the meats. The price was also quite high 500$ .. & we left feeling that the money was not well spent . To be transparent, I asked some friends who recently dined here & both couples said the same thing !
