Petit steakhouse. Grandes saveurs. Le restaurant Gus se distingue par l'approche culinaire unique du chef David Ferguson qui s'inspire d'un large éventail de cuisines allant des grillades assaisonnées et des épices du Sud-Ouest américain aux classiques relevés du steakhouse traditionnel. L'ambiance de ce petit restaurant de quartier est conviviale et chaleureuse et les sauces piquantes maison sont savoureuses et enflammées. Steak et fruits de mer.
Les avis convergent pour décrire Gus comme un petit endroit intime et chaleureux où l'accueil est attentif et le service efficace; l'ambiance conviviale et détendue, malgré un espace restreint, invite à réserver à l'avance. Le menu est centré sur la viande avec quelques options de fruits de mer, et les plats comme la soupe à l'oignon revisitée et le steak onglet ou entrecôte obtiennent des éloges pour leur cuisson et leur richesse, accompagnés de pommes de terre au fromage et de sauces variées qui ajoutent une touche généreuse; certaines sauces peuvent toutefois masquer le goût de la viande. La carte des vins est intéressante avec des importations privées et des choix au verre, et le personnel aide à faire les bons accords, ce qui renforce le sentiment d'un soir agréable; les desserts et le rapport qualité-prix reçoivent aussi des compliments, et la salade César est souvent citée comme excellente. Des expériences comme des cours de cuisine au bar et des rencontres avec le chef ajoutent une dimension conviviale et mémorable, même si l'établissement peut moins convenir aux végétariens.
We were a group of 3 people participating in David Ferguson’s « Cooking class ». Great format & experience for both food & drink. We were all given the menu & recipes.
Explanations, & demonstration were given throughout the evening about what we were about to eat, how to prepare it, make it or cook it.
The restaurant being closed, & the group being voluntary kept small, it makes for a cool evening. The location is an intimate, local, very Montreal, that looks & feels lived-in. The class takes place at the bar behind which David drives it. & it’s not formal. It’s more akin to dinner with close friends.
If you are looking for something different for a special occasion …on a Tuesday (!) …well, better book early. They only have a few of these events per year.
& by the way, Gus only takes reservations from humans. Not booking engines. You have to talk to them. How refreshing ?
Get the special. Always get the special. Mussels are amazing. Staff is awesome. Don't skip the dessert. If you're local & this isn't your weekly routine make it so!
Absolutely beyond thankful for the food memories we made at Gus. Besides the staff being attentive to our every needs to the kitchen allowing for us to continually add more to our ticket. Everything was great every dish gave us the best memories & we will cherish them forever.
This is one of my all time favourite restaurants ever. My brother introduced me to Dave & his team many years ago & since then we have enjoyed many wonderful, delicious meals there. I highly recommend the Ceasar salad, surf & turf or the bavette as core delights that you can always count on. That said I have NEVER had anything other than an amazing meal. Much love for this restaurant & its incredible food!!!

Great atmosphere in what is probably my favorite restaurant in Montreal. The onglet was a 15 on a 1-10 scale. The caesar salad was fantastic. Onion soup was awesome & comforting on this cold'ish autumn evening. The owner is in the kitchen as chef, & the waiter is such a wonderful guy who took good care of us, while we were there. We are looking forward to going here again soon.
Our experience at Gus was nothing less than amazing. From our cocktails to the appetizers to our dinners & desserts....everything was just fantastic. We can't thank our Waite Person, Kieran enough for providing a truly memorable meal & experience!!! Thank you so much!!!!!
On a assisté au cours de cuisine chez Gus ce mardi soir & on a eu une super belle expérience. Le chef & son équipe sont passionnants, drôles & très pédagogues. Les plats étaient délicieux comme toujours & l'accord mets/vin très intéressant! Merci pour la belle soirée & de continuer année après année à nous servir des plats de qualité

Incredible restaurant. Top. Finally went to Gus recently on a trip to Montreal & it was outstanding. The food is world class & the owner David is an incredible guy. Very small, cute space with an overload of quality food, drinks, wines, & experience. Personal favorites were the strawberry shortcake, the lamb (agneau), surf & turf, & the Cesar salad. Everything was impeccable though. Looking forward to many more visits au Restaurant Gus :).
The surf & turf dish has us coming back. We are lucky to have excellent restaurants in the neighborhood & Gus is one of them. If you want a ceasar salad that is exquisite & done the original & authentic way than this is the place - the menu changes often & they provide some nice options for all tastes! We will be back soon!
Amazing food & service! Reserved for my friend's birthday, they brought us a cute cake & everything it was so cute. The staff, amazing & helpful. Everything was perfect ✨ will definitely be back
