Petit steakhouse. Grandes saveurs.
Double date night with friends, I never heard of this place before. They seem to have their share of regulars at the bar, but the atmosphere was friendly & relaxed so we felt at home.
It's a small space, so I recommend booking in advance.
The menu is unapologetically meat based, with a bit of seafood. We had the onion soup & the rib steak. The soup was classic French but with a few twists, like avocado, which actually worked well, although the chucks could have been cut a bit smaller.
The steak was great, cooked to perfection & I loved the cheesey potatoes, which was a bold choice of side considering the steak had a fine amount of fat & topped with delicious compound butter. It was rich but oh so good, & the portions were generous. The desserts sounded good but we were stuffed.
I also really enjoyed the sauces available, not that my steak needed it. It's those sauces that make people think that this is a Tex Mex joint, but it's not. Just because there's Sriracha on the table doesn't make it a Thai restaurant 😜. The Kansas City style sweet sauce & the green vinegar based sauce were my favorites, but all 4 were solid.
Another thing worth mentioning was the wine list. Lots of private imports, from tried & true wine regions to more funky offerings. Good selection by the glass - including dessert wines - & cocktails, too.
The waistaff was cool, I liked that they knew their menu well, & helped out as a group to pick out our wine.
Prices are aligned with what a good night out costs these days, but I think there's good value here, & I would definitely recommend this place, unless you're vegetarian 😛
Wanted to love this place but fell way short. Staff is very nice. Restaurant du coin kind of vibe. I can see why some people may love it.
Service was good. Everyone is nice & helpful.
My wife & i shared the ceasar salad. It was good. Expensive but good. Made fresh in front of us.
My wife took a steak (onglet de boeuf) & i took the entrecote which was supposedly a top 4% grass fed cut from a local farm. Everything was drenched in the strangest butter sauce. You couldnt even taste the meat. I rarely send food back but was not able to stomach it. I dont mind butter on my steak but this was a strange fusion of butter & i dont know what...onions or chives. Anyway in my opinion steak should just be grilled & served. Sauce should be on the sode. It camouflaged the meat & couldnt taste anything but the sauce which i couldnt handle.
My wife had the onglet de boeuf which was quite good. No sauce over it but it laid on a bed of vegetables that were cooked with 5 lbs of butter. Again we dont mind butter but this was exaggerated.
I sent back my steak explaining i couldnt stomach the sauce. I know its not their fault but i was expexting at least a dessert or coffee on the house. They charged me everything. A little disappointing considering its not a cheap place.
Suffice to say that i will never be going back there. I wouldnt recommend the place but i also wouldnt tell someone not to go of they asked my opinion because the place has potential & they know how to cook, but it needs a little finesse.

From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel completely at home. Everyone was incredibly warm & welcoming, & the cozy, inviting vibe of the place just added to the experience.
The food? Absolutely amazing. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, & clearly made with care. The steak dish was perfectly cooked & flavorful, & the sides & starters-especially the arugula salad with apples-were fresh & vibrant. The cevechi dish & asparagus with shrimp were also beautifully prepared & full of flavor.
This place is a hidden gem. Whether you're a local or just passing through, I highly recommend giving Gus a try. You won't regret it!
This is one of my all time favourite restaurants ever. My brother introduced me to Dave & his team many years ago & since then we have enjoyed many wonderful, delicious meals there. I highly recommend the Ceasar salad, surf & turf or the bavette as core delights that you can always count on. That said I have NEVER had anything other than an amazing meal. Much love for this restaurant & its incredible food!!!
Food is great! Very tasty, portions are really good! We took the ceasar salad as a starter & the surf & turf to share. They have a good option of wines. The service is really good as well, they were very attentive. I definitely recommend, I will return to try the other dishes.
Small & cozy, the food is always on point. We have been going since it opened & have always had a great culinary experience. The staff is friendly & welcoming, would highly recommend.
I love this restaurant! I've followed the chef David Ferguson since he owned Jolifou & I absolutely love his style of cooking. Rustic comfort food that tastes amazing! He knows what he's talking about when it comes to steaks too! I love the ambiance of the resto as well. Small & comforting. Great place to go! It's open kitchen makes for a great experience to get to talk to the chef too! Highly recommended!
