Gus est apprécié pour son ambiance intime et conviviale, son personnel chaleureux et attentif, et un menu orienté viande avec quelques options de fruits de mer. Des plats comme la soupe à l'oignon revisitée et l'entrecôte arrivent riches et savoureux, avec des portions généreuses et des sauces remarquables qui ont pu sembler trop fortes à certains. Quelle belle expérience. C'est la deuxième fois que nous allons chez Gus & certainement pas la dernière. La salade césar est divine avec sa lettue croquante, les croutons fondant fait maison, une vinaigrette fais a la main pour chaque commande & on ajoute une tonne de fromage rapé directement dans le bol, quoi demander de plus. Pour les plats principaux, y faut y aller pour les découvrirs! Ah oui garder vous de la place pour un dessert.
Wanted to love this place but fell way short. Staff is very nice. Restaurant du coin kind of vibe. I can see why some people may love it.

My wife & i shared the ceasar salad. It was good. Expensive but good. Made fresh in front of us.
My wife took a steak (onglet de boeuf) & i took the entrecote which was supposedly a top 4% grass fed cut from a local farm. Everything was drenched in the strangest butter sauce. You couldnt even taste the meat. I rarely send food back but was not able to stomach it. I dont mind butter on my steak but this was a strange fusion of butter & i dont know what...onions or chives. Anyway in my opinion steak should just be grilled & served. Sauce should be on the sode. It camouflaged the meat & couldnt taste anything but the sauce which i couldnt handle.
My wife had the onglet de boeuf which was quite good. No sauce over it but it laid on a bed of vegetables that were cooked with 5 lbs of butter. Again we dont mind butter but this was exaggerated.
I sent back my steak explaining i couldnt stomach the sauce. I know its not their fault but i was expexting at least a dessert or coffee on the house. They charged me everything. A little disappointing considering its not a cheap place.
Suffice to say that i will never be going back there. I wouldnt recommend the place but i also wouldnt tell someone not to go of they asked my opinion because the place has potential & they know how to cook, but it needs a little finesse.
Possibly one of the best cesar salads, steak/fries, cocktails & chocolate cakes that I've had in a long time. Staff & patrons created a welcome, cozy atmosphere on a crisp, cold 🍂 night. I will defintely return.

Chef David est le meilleur en ville. Salade César préparée fraîche a la portion & a la commande. Viande toujours excellente & le poisson divin. Tout le personnel est très attentionné & parfait
From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel completely at home. Everyone was incredibly warm & welcoming, & the cozy, inviting vibe of the place just added to the experience.
The food? Absolutely amazing. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, & clearly made with care. The steak dish was perfectly cooked & flavorful, & the sides & starters-especially the arugula salad with apples-were fresh & vibrant. The cevechi dish & asparagus with shrimp were also beautifully prepared & full of flavor.
This place is a hidden gem. Whether you're a local or just passing through, I highly recommend giving Gus a try. You won't regret it!
This is one of my all time favourite restaurants ever. My brother introduced me to Dave & his team many years ago & since then we have enjoyed many wonderful, delicious meals there. I highly recommend the Ceasar salad, surf & turf or the bavette as core delights that you can always count on. That said I have NEVER had anything other than an amazing meal. Much love for this restaurant & its incredible food!!!

Great atmosphere in what is probably my favorite restaurant in Montreal. The onglet was a 15 on a 1-10 scale. The caesar salad was fantastic. Onion soup was awesome & comforting on this cold'ish autumn evening. The owner is in the kitchen as chef, & the waiter is such a wonderful guy who took good care of us, while we were there. We are looking forward to going here again soon.
Incredible restaurant. Top. Finally went to Gus recently on a trip to Montreal & it was outstanding. The food is world class & the owner David is an incredible guy. Very small, cute space with an overload of quality food, drinks, wines, & experience. Personal favorites were the strawberry shortcake, the lamb (agneau), surf & turf, & the Cesar salad. Everything was impeccable though. Looking forward to many more visits au Restaurant Gus :).
The surf & turf dish has us coming back. We are lucky to have excellent restaurants in the neighborhood & Gus is one of them. If you want a ceasar salad that is exquisite & done the original & authentic way than this is the place - the menu changes often & they provide some nice options for all tastes! We will be back soon!
Food is great! Very tasty, portions are really good! We took the ceasar salad as a starter & the surf & turf to share. They have a good option of wines. The service is really good as well, they were very attentive. I definitely recommend, I will return to try the other dishes.

Un petit bistro avec un bon service & des plats simples visuellement tout pleins de saveurs. La tarte tartin, la salade de betterave, les moules-frites & l'onglet de boeuf ont notre aval!
Très bon restaurant de quartier... Leur assiette à partager terre/mer est excellente & la salade césar vaut le déplacement. Les vins sont rapport qualité/prix intéressant.
